Holy fuck the tismscism going on in the comments listing everything from their new TOS "breaking" EU's laws that allow people to be "forgotten" to Bethesda's own TOS. These changes will overall make modding easier for players who wish to use these mods. Like look at this fucking tard who wrote a novel saying its wrong to do this to the poor mod developers.

His entire argument is destroyed when the modders don't even own their work regardless. They are working with an intellectual property they do not own. They did not buy a license to do so. Fair Use only applies if they do not make any money from it and even then you're fucking around with their code that they own. Bethesda
lets them make mods for their games and they only do that because they're too fucking lazy for their ego to be enough to want full control of their product -- even then they've been making pushes to make it you can only use mods from
their services, the same shit this fucker is going off on Nexus about, and that they own the mods on their service. ToS vs ToS is that the work you do isn't even owned by Nexus, it's owned by the big corporation you worked to modify the product of. Even then, it's not even a product anymore -- it's a fucking license to a service. They can and will strip you of the right to it at any time they so desire. Nintendo shuts down these mods all the time. Bandai Namco allows mods to be made, but they punish the fuck out of you for using them and in general try to make it a pain in the ass to mod. Even Blizzard shuts them down time to time and Blizzard is the whole reason these fucks don't get to own their work -- because they're altering the game's code, even if what they wrote is from scratch it's still modifying established and owned code. They have no copyright laws protecting them they only have... what's the word... the charity of the companies in question and those can be revoked whenever.
He does make an interesting point about Nexus claiming ownership of the works in question and that does create a bit of an iffy wiffy in regards to the profit they make should they claim ownership... I don't know if any companies will shut it down, though, as that's bad PR at the moment. I also don't recall there being any exclusivity problems. They should be allowed to host it from Nexus and elsewhere, so that's probably how they get around that, I dunno, the IP law I've read is mostly key established cases on American soil.
A lot of his arguments are trash because a ToS changes all the time and you agree to it. If you don't, you don't get to use those websites anymore, you don't get to use your video games anymore, you don't get to watch things anymore on streaming platforms... this fucker has no idea what the fuck he's talking about. There's nothing illegal about any of this since - if we're even gonna go by his twisted view of shit - they can take their toys and go home, they just can't use Nexus anymore. That's legal. That's fair. What's funny is I bet this fuck is among the kinds that go and say, "Don't like it? Make your own social media site".
Also Nexus is based in the US if I'm not mistaken so if they really wanted to they could just shut down and sell their servers in Europe - I think their only physical representation in the region - and the EU can't do shit.
Of course I'm not a lawyer. This is entirely based on shit I've read on the matter. I am willing to wager Nexus has much more enlightened attorneys on their side that have gone through significantly more than either I or this fuck has read and they gave Nexus the green light to go ahead with all of this. If people are so sure they have a case they can take it to the courts, but I'm fairly certain Nexus' attorneys will win.
