Dota 2 Community Meltdown - Apparently everyone bullied everyone with a mix of sexual harassment as well

Apparently his wife started that court case and his kids testified against him and he still won.
 
I've kept a very tired, disenfranchised, reluctant eye on the goings on since I first caught wind of it. Something I have yet to see at all throughout any of this is proof of any claims made (outside of Redeye, I guess?) beyond hearsay and very shaky firsthand remarks. Have you guys n gals spotted anything at all beyond that so far? It's really wearing me out of actual empathy I might have for someone claiming to have lived through this shit. How fucked up is that? I don't want to feel like that, but dammit all - enough already. Christ.

It's the same goddamn tired old story played out every single fucking time with this #metoo garbage, I swear. Do correct me if I'm wrong, but so far all anyone has put forth is "Well we were at this thing <a really long time ago> and I was so scared (to the point I can't remember anything important) because I have no agency and..and...*sobbing*...it was a big scary powerful MAN! baaaaaaaaaaaw!" Etc, etc.

Proof or gtfo. And until then, cut the mob rule horseshit. Social media has been such a detriment to society.

Speaking of social media - naturally, that meant every single member of the goddamn scene just had to voice their own hot takes on the situation. It has utterly ruined my chances of getting any enjoyment out of watching future DotA 2 tourneys at this point. The virtue signaling, the immediate white-knighting and judgement being cast by people like fucking Purge. I don't even like Purge as talent (and he's just one example), but I can let all kinds of shit go so long as I'm focused on the game and am blissfully ignorant of their stupid fucking opinions no one else should ever even know on a topic that doesn't directly involve them.

At least Slacks was just basically talking through his heartbreak over it all, I suppose. I could follow his sentiment.

On top of that, you've got people equating this to (you fuckin' guessed it) being the fault of toxic G A M E R S in the community and this being a perfect example of the alt-right taking over, just like back in the days of GamerGate.

I was under the assumption Redeye was extremely well received among the viewerbase. Similar to Tobiwan, but Tobiwan had his fair share of detractors. I don't remember many people talking ill of Redeye. And here he is, gone.

I only ever really tune into Dota for TI, and I don't play anymore. I took a look two weeks ago and the whole thing seems alien.

tobi was the fan favorite caster, the most entertaining caster of them all, also a real old school veteran who was around even back in the wc3 dota days. not many guys like that left on the scene these days.
redeye was more of a newcomer, but his charisma and professionalism made him very well received among dota fans overall. i dont think he did actual commentating on the games, he was more of an event host, interviewer, and panel dude if i recall correctly.

either way, both were good people in their respective positions, and pro dota will be worse off after losing them.

The confirmation bias really kills it, doesn't it? Always quick to judge and condemn, but barely and passively remorseful (if at all) if their bias is proven false. Bonus points for a rapid shifting of goalposts to keep the righteous fervor going. Mob rule is such a terrible way to pass judgement.

People also plead guilty when they're not far more often than I think anyone realizes. That's a "fun" topic to go digging up if you're ever bored and don't have enough bullshit on your mind already..

I remember when professional and personal lives were supposedly separate things. I think there might have been a reason for that. Must be a real :null: as to why.

RedEye's was the worst about this.

All of this is proof that there is only one worthwhile dota personality. And wouldnt you know it he's a tea eye wiener to boot.

Really sucks that most of the good casters are gone and what feels like a large part of the esports scene imploding on itself though. The international, at least, was always a fun watch. Now the whole thing just seems so soured.
 
What's really weird is the timing. Usually you have the international, but thanks to the Pandemic its basically TBA. And there's still no information. While this is going on, you've got this massive caster purge, which would have been really inconvenient if a date had been set, but now there's no date. Really makes you think.
 
american sexual harassment is basically the same thing as fairy tale. The Dota community was built without support on trooncore and marvel, it's very unlikely they will spam #anobodyissexoffender!!!! and celebrity nonsense. This shit gives me dual brain split, like if I owned company, "what would I do?". Valve is the one who organizes the event. They are the ones who put the prize as well. If you develop a game without trying to be relevant, then it shouldn't be too far to claim that the community is dependant on you.
