So this movie's PR and marketting are like if Wonder Woman's was done by retards. Weird, it's usually DC who are :autistic: with movies

The fact that Brie Larson is going to be taking over the MCU is frightening.
The basic formula for capeshit films is "guy who has charisma gets into bad situation, discovers super powers solve everything". Remove the guy, remove the charisma, what have you got left? Not much!

There's a strong case to be made that these movies are made by complete fags, too. Why are half the lady heroes in the MCU such unlikable dykes? Elizabeth Olson actually makes you want to fuck her, so naturally she gets all of 5 minutes screen time in 5 movies. This might be "misogynistic" of me, but I don't think I'm telling tales out of school by saying that I like my lady heroes to be feminine, and show some titties! Back in my day half the appeal to comics was that they were having the adventures we never would, and the other half was the titties. When you think of "sexy scenes in the MCU", what comes to mind? That scene where Scarlett Johannson changes in the car, Gwyneth Paltrow in a sports bra, and that's it. 20 films and not a single scene you can jerk off to! Even Schumacher had the common decency to give us "suit me up, Uncle Alfred!"

Patty Jenkins and Warner Bros. really played their cards right with Wonder Woman. They weren't obnoxious about feminism and released a film that could survive on its own merits. I originally had doubts about Gal Gadot as the titular character, but Jenkins did a good job of playing to her advantages.

By contrast, this film has Larson being as much of a bitch pre-release as she likes with all the personality of a wet sock to boot. This heavy focus on saying, "she has all the powers and all the strengths the end" is awfully similar to Rey's method of just having everything without earning it.

I swear to god there is a conspiracy to torpedo the idea of female lead action films into oblivion.

For decades people have been asking for more Ripleys, Sarah Connors etc and now everyone is sorry for having ever broached the topic.

Hollywood in its infinite wisdom is going to sour the public with these milquetoast Mary Sues and Puritan brow beating.
When these kinds of films inevitably lose enough money to get the financiers’ attention they’ll back pedal and declare that the buying public rejected these films because no one wanted to see female super hero’s or action stars. Not because they’re terrible with terrible PR and deeply uncharismatic actresses.

Rey, Captain Marvel and Moana; the Holy Trinity of Disney trying hard to make us like their self-insert Mary Sues.

Threesome anyone?
I disagree about Moana being a Mary Sue. She needed help trying to navigate through the ocean. She had to learn an actual skill over the course of the movie, at the very least.

It's not even just about fap fuel (although it is that). Super heroes are modern olympians. On average they should be superhumanly strong and superhumanly beautiful. They've gotten this right with say, Thor. Not so much with the female characters because feminine beauty is evil in current year.

Yeah, nail on head. They even make a joke about it in the last Avengers. "You're a man, he's a GOD". Imagine that line but gender-swapped. For all "muh feminine femininity" ultimately Gamora was the one sacrificed, not Quill. Thanos "likes" Quill, even, because he has brass. As they try to tell us "woman is hero" they reinforce tired old tropes. What does a young fan take away from this? Fucks sake, even Mantis has a passive power. She makes bad men sleepy, oooooooh. Sue Storm was a better hero than this.

The most sexist thing in Infinity War is that only female heroes/villains were allowed to seriously harm female villains/heroes, with the exception of the Gamorra sacrifice scene. The big finale fight scene was sexually segregated. Women are good enough to be super heroes too!...as long as the villains are also weak stupid women.

Well that's what happens when most of Marvel's best female characters belong to other studios so they had to make do with what little they had.

Still doesn't excuse them fucking over massively Mary Jane and the Scarlet Witch though.

Female led action movies come out every single year, and every single year the star of said movie comes out with some vague political statement about how there's never been a female led action movie before. Never once did these airheads stop to think that maybe the reason that they're all under the impression that there's never been a female led action despite there literally being dozens is the fact that women don't watch action movies.

It would be like a guy complaining that they don't make romcoms about dudes. No, they make plenty of romcoms about dudes, you just haven't seen any of them you idiot.

They could make a shit character interesting. Let's not pretend that the writing for their best characters was ever fantastic, or that it never was utter shit. You can probably tweak Carl Manvers into a fun lead with a decent writing team. They just, y'know, didn't. That's on them, not on Fox for owning Rogue and Storm (Who were shit in their movies anyway).

When was MJ a great strong female character anyway? Most of my experience with her was in the 90's where her job was mostly just being Spiderman's hot super model wife who -gasp- started smoking due to stress!

It's your basic "I forgot muh home, oh wait it was Earth all along" Superman origin story. Diamond dozen, cut and paste, nothing to write home about. Recycle the plot from Iron Man, include a scene where Brie Larson conveniently forgets her bra, congratulations, you've got a female-led MCU film. Crack open a beer on the way to the Oscars and see me in six weeks.

Eh, that’s not necessarily true.
In absolute numbers yes but when the split is 60/40, you are talking about ignoring a significant number of your viewing audience. Regarding action films that is.

Men generally don’t care for rom coms this is true.

I’m of the opinion that the reason rom coms were pumped out in such numbers before was due to the fact that they were cheap to make and women turned out in significant numbers to see them.

A sure fire bet and return on investment as opposed to Die Hard or something that has a broader appeal, attracts both male and female viewers, but also had a larger chance to fizzle out.

It’s niche vs mass.

Capeshit are all action and power fantasies really and men and women turn out equally for them.

Here’s a vid that explains my assessment way better than I can
