Agree. I feel like so many gaming companies just not caring anymore about their customers and believing that anything they make, shitty or not, the fans would 100% buy it.

Yeah that worked for a couple of years or so, but people are getting tired. They want to pay for the game they were promised. Not half promised or almost but not quite 100% promised, but an actual fully developed game without the need of microtransactions or dlc.

But alas such is not the case, and Im excited to see what gaming companies like ea or bethesda are going to crap out next.

I suspect the ongoing tech crash will do a lot to clean the video games industry up. Probably 2/3's or more of the AAA corporations will die but the ones that survive will do so because they want to, really want to make games that people want to play and will pay for. Until then, maybe it's time to go through your backlog on steam and play some of those games you never got around to playing.

Honestly at this point, is there a AAA game studio out there still, that if they went away tomorrow, would anyone miss them or care? If EA went away tomorrow, would anyone care?

So apparently the newest single player mini campaign thing is the most werhaboo shit out there. With muh Michael Wittmann tiger ace shit. Pic related. I am thinking of walking back my previous statement a bit now.

They don't wanna just apeal to the trans midget female yas queen shit. They also want the wehraboo incel, that just plays Prussia in Vickey 2 over and over and over again. Which when thinking about it makes sense since the German faction in game has no darkies by default just white men and women.

For those that don't know any kinda grand strat or niche historical operational operations game has to pander to these fags ino order to make a profit, as they are numerous, rabid, and retarded.

Maybe they wanted to hedge their bets and pander to both the wehraboo and the SJW. Because after all this is EA run by an Aussie, so I would not be surprised if the company is not just a giant shit post, trying to pander to what ever big demos they see to try to get in as much cash as possible. But keep the wehraboo elements on the back side to not start shit.

Tiger myths are some of the best shit about WW2. The gun was good. There. Front armor was fine at long range and against weak ass 75mm guns.

EDIT And Whitman got punk'd good by an upgunned sherman.

sorry but i find your rant agaisnt "werhaboos" offensive and i will say why

As an American of Germanic descent, I felt a sense of pride seeing this and reminding myself of the success of my brothers and sisters still in the fatherland throughout history. Many years back during my Junior High School years I got the opportunity to visit Germany through my German Language class. While I consider my home to be in America, I couldn't help but feel a sense of... I don't know, I've never quite felt anything like it before. But I was so caught up in emotion that I was doing something that many Americans cant say they've done. I was standing on the soil of MY people. Walking through areas of such rich history, connecting with the land that has nurtured us since antiquity in the face of adversity. The land of great powers like the Holy Roman Empire, Prussia, The German Empire, etc... and of course Germany today. Germany has always seemed to have this... how to put it... this air of efficiency and confidence about them. In peacetime, great craftsmen and designers. And In wartime, great generals and Soldiers. Sure, Russia and China have huge military reserves. The U.S., U.K. and Israel have their super-high-tech toys. But something about German military hardware: Guns, tanks, aircraft, etc... You can almost feel the "German Pride" radiating from everything they make.... At least, that's what i feel when I see anything German-made... After all, I have mostly German blood coursing through my veins. And it's not just the things they make, but how they use them. After all, it was the German Wehrmacht seen pioneering the new age of warfare (blitzkrieg, modernized tanks, assault weapons: Stg 44, and aircraft) as well as their success with the U-boats. Speaking of Wehrmacht, it annoys me greatly when people say that Wehrmacht = SS...

Anyways, I seem to have rambled far enough...

Though not all of us still live in German lands, we are still deeply connected to our origins and history. May we always stand together no matter where we may live... Auf wiedersehen everyone.

Probably your classic corporate move, try to play both sides to maximize profits. It's just business.

Is this copypasta? Because it is now.

I still have no idea why DICE agreed to let EA buy them.

Because the people who run/own DICE wanted a huge paycheck and could give a shit about the studio after they leave it. The real secret to most small to medium business is that getting bought out is the best thing that can happen to you (provided you have a share of the company, and the people who make the decision have shares of the company most times).

DICE went from a very small studio with a single breakout hit in 2002 (which they didn't even technically make, they bought a studio that was making it) to being bought out for a huge amount of millions of dollars (EA bought them out for $24 million, but that was a "We're buying the rest of them" meaning they had purchased shares of the company prior, depending on how much they already owned, this could represent anywhere between a total purchase of $40-150 million).

If you are an early investor, a company founder, or have "chief" in your title (CFO, CEO, CTO, etc) this amount means you are getting a single payout that is tremendously larger than your salary/investment (Example - the CEO likely makes $200k/year [maybe less for a small start up] but the buyout is worth $2,000,000 for him, or 10x his yearly salary) and it doesn't even mean that you lose your job, as you are likely asked to stay on for a period of time. Once you've done your required time, there is nothing stopping you from doing it all over again try and make even more millions.

EA really screwed themselves releasing so close to the Larry.

They really got killed by waiting so long, not by Leisure Suit Larry but by PUGB, Fortnite, and Call of Duty being generally considered "pretty good" while BFV is WW2 BF1 with some weird SJW shit in it. They picked one of the worst years to not innovate the game, as most BF fans don't see a reason to move off of BF1.

Battlefield V is the first Battlefield game to miss the NPD’s top 10 this decade

Battlefield V did not finish in the top 10 best-selling games of 2018 in the U.S., according to tracking firm The NPD Group. Instead, the World War II shooter ended up at No. 14. That puts it behind Grand Theft Auto V (11), Mario Kart 8 (12), and FIFA 19 (13).

That makes Battlefield V the first Battlefield game this decade not to crack the NPD’s annual top 10 list. And it means that the game performed closer to Battlefield: Hardline and Bad Company 2 than Battlefield 1, relative to the rest of the software market.

I went back and looked at previous NPD charts, which track physical and digital sales in the United States. Here’s where each Battlefield game ended up on the list from their debut year.
  • •2018: Battlefield V was No. 14
  • •2016: Battlefield 1 was No. 2
  • •2015: Battlefield: Hardline was No. 10
  • •2013: Battlefield 4 was No. 4
  • •2011: Battlefield 3 was No. 4
  • •2010: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was No. 10
These numbers are all in terms of dollar sales and copies. They also don’t include any sales made on EA’s Origin client. It is also worth noting that Battlefield V is the first game in the series to launch included in the EA Origin Access Premier subscription service from the day of its launch.

I’ve also reached out to EA for a comment.

But without more details from the publisher itself, the NPD data suggests that Battlefield V is not keeping up with its predecessors.

Who knew telling others not to buy your game would result in them listening and doing exactly just that: Not buying the fuckin' game?

So what happened? Well, Battlefield definitely had a number of PR missteps early on. Some of those were legitimate, like a trailer that fans didn’t love. Others, like including women characters in combat gameplay, caused reactionaries to publicly poop their pants. But how many of them were going to buy anyway?

I don't know how these journalists still can't grasp the idea that a consumer might not buy a game if the developers antagonise them. "Misstep" is a gentle way of characteristing what happened given that EA had one of their C-suites directly ordering said consumers not to buy it, and bonus points for subtly implying a distinction between Battlefield fans and critics of the game.

If anything only reactionaries involved who would never buy the game were the woke checkmarks who spent the most energy sperging about how evil gamergaters were trying to erase women from history or whatever the fuck.

The author goes on to attribute the game's failure primarily to Fortnite, but I don't buy that considering that Black Ops 4 is just as shady, cynical and greedy and was still a massive success despite Fortnite. Battlefield V bombed because it's a soulless husk devised by a corporate marketing team.

Moral of the story, don't antagonize your fanbase and tell them "don't like it, don't buy it".

Word of mouth should never be underestimated, and an incensed fanbase will make their anger heard.

I wonder how many millions of sales is the difference between #2 and #14 8) They better buy some more Trevor Noah instagram promotions to turn this ship around!

Isn't DICE still developing the battle royale mode? They are still spending money, and you assume the cosmetic sales are part of their expected revenue. Really interested how much they spend promoting it and how it's received.

Bruh.

99% of the audience doesn't give a shit/know about some developer telling retards online not to buy the game if they don't like it.

People who post on forums and YouTube are a tiny, tiny percentage of the overall audience. There's a reason why games like Far Cry and Fifa are consistently among the best selling games of the year despite there being zero online buzz about them.

BFV sold under estimates because it's a shitty sequel to a mediocre game that came out during a crowded launch window.

Lmao, and a friend of mine who paid full price for this game kept on pestering me to buy this game.

Your friend probably thinks condescending any percent of your audience is a good PR strategy.

There's not "zero hype" for Fifa. It's connected to a billion dollar sporting industry that's entrenched as a cultural institution across the world. Of course it doesn't need any overlap with gaming enthusiast sphere to sell. You're comparing that to an online, historical themed FPS which has consistently fallen short of Call of Duty's market appeal with every installment? You really think kids who watch Youtube, check gameplay on Twitch and read social media constitute 1% of the DICE customer demographic?

If bad advertisement had no objective effect on certain sales, neither would positive advertisement and EA wouldn't be spending millions on advertisement. Launching during a crowded window of mediocre AAA games doesn't explain why theirs was the steeply disadvantaged one. Their promotional faceplant does.

For indie shit like Undertale, the majority of the audience is plugged into online culture. For mainstream games like CoD, Battlefield, and Fifa though? I don't think it has such a huge impact.

Remember Call of Duty infinite warfare? Its reveal trailer was the most disliked video in YouTube history up until recently. Guess what though? It was still the best selling game of 2016.
