American animation was staffed by passionate people prior to the 1970s. After that the animators died out because they weren't cost effective.

What if 2010s media got a restraining order from 1980s media?

1980s media was animated by Japanese people. Last decade we made the transition to Koreans.

Westerners have been the "ideas guys" for the last 30 years and they usually have retarded ideas.

Wow, what a piece of SHIT. How the fuck did ANYONE think this was okay?
It's even funnier how hard the creators of it are hugboxing on Twitter.

Yes, just because a lot of people worked on it, that means it's perfect and immune to critique.

Gah, I fucking hate the Calarts-clique in the animation industry.

But Thundercats already had a reboot which people liked but got canceled because its toy distribution got fucked over somehow. Funny how no mention is made of THAT.

That seems to be a killer of shows today. It has to sell merchandise to kids, otherwise, it gets canned. To me, the new cartoonists try to emulate the Scott Pilgrim style humor, but they don't know how or what made it work. It's very telling because the people behind the shows all are looking the same (they always look either "Hollywood nerdy" or hipster like) .

The fact Disney's "current" cartoon style (though thank fucking GOD the Ducktales reboot was spared this nonsense) seems very similar probably doesn't help how this style of animation is overflowing everywhere.

I had a look through Polgar's twitter, he's got good taste ( in art, not hair styles).

He mentions that he animated the tumblrcats intro, I can see his influence in it with the background art and the spaceship's animation.
I'm just surprised he had a hand in the animation at all, I though modern cartoon studios had all the actual animation done at Korean sweatshops.
Nah, these days they do it in-house with Toonboom. You no longer need a huge production facility since cel animation became obsolete.

I've never watched ThunderCats but boy... this trailer.

Shitty perspective again

I know Stretch and Squash is a technique used in animation, but... this just looks like a CalArts final piece from a first year student. It's going to have lulsorandum toilet humour and it's probably gonna be a shitfest, and not even a good shitfest. The characters don't have any kind of consistency (like SU characters) and the designs are boring as hell. They give Lion-O eyelashes in a close up but the cheetah girl(?) doesn't get any? She's barely got any tits.

He-Man will be next. Only he'll wear his hair in a bun like this guy, put on a shirt and trousers and only go by "They-Person." He also will only use his sword to cut tofu and veggies.
Oh, there's a She-Ra coming out this year. I can only tell so much from the promo image but you may not be wrong if Prince Adam/He-Man makes a cameo.

Anybody remember mighty magisword? It aired for a while on CN and egoraptor voiced one of the main characters.

It looks exactly like that with the stumpy legs and weirdly body proportions.

I can only see this show have 1 season at best and the promptly forgotten for good reasons.

Is Cal Arts the source of western animations decline?

Never watched the original show as I'm not an 80ies kid but I saw the reboot and it seemed cool. A masterpiece even, comparing to this.
OH MY GAWD THIS IMAGE CANT BE FUCKING REAL

I just....i give up. I cant say anything to top the insane perfection of this screencap. Its like a goddamn Renaissance painting of heavenly autism
That manbun makes me want to call him Soymurai Jack.

That first frame, that right arm is jacked, while the left arm looks tiny. Very inconsistent. They made Cheetara look androgynous.

So this is what "Hard Work" results in.

Not always. Shows like the Simpsons and Star Vs. use ToonBoom and are farmed overseas to Korean and Filipino studios. Or if they're too cheap to do even that (like with The Loud House), just ship it over to Canada.

There's already a bunch of videos from cartoon fanboys who are ranting about the show being made.
