This is a "smart vending machine" - the way it works is, you use your credit card to unlock it, then you open the door and take whatever you want. There are AI-powered cameras inside that watch you, and charge your credit card appropriately.

It's like having a high-trust society, but enforced by AI.
Naturally "
changing customer habits" don't fully understand how this works. They seem to think the machine works on the honor system, and that taking more than one item is a "glitch" (like how
they assumed that check kiting was a "glitch"). So when the door opens, they behave like monkeys, presented with a basket of bananas. They grab as much as they can.
...only this time the AI bills them for it.
Here's a video by a guy who installed one of these machines in a hotel. Apparently he's making bank.

Yeah, I posted the exact law about one page back.
Regarding these vending machines. It's gonna be interesting how this plays out. On the one hand, there is absolutely no possibility that blacks just magically start behaving themselves, and no possibility that they develop restraint (only taking what they can pay for).
I also see no possibility that the credit card companies hold firm when the inevitable "what dis charge fo?? uh uh, I didn't take that shit!" complaints come in. And when, as with IQ tests for employment, word gets out that this mostly affects blacks, I suspect these machines will simply have to go away.
