If the merchant can prove merchandise is being taken (intentionally) at the point-of-sale with 4k video footage like this, they're much more likely to prevail against those complaints. Not hard to auto-tag footage with the most-recent transaction ID (as provided by the credit card gateway, i.e. a number you're allowed to keep and use to refer to the transaction and associate it with the payment, PCI-e compliant).
