Nick is the type of "Christian" that heard accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior will get you into heaven. But he's so "clever", and thinks he's the first person to ever think he can just be a POS his entire life and on his death bed ask for forgiveness and "accept Jesus" to still get into heaven. Because surely the Lord hasn't seen that one before and doesn't know the true intentions of his heart.

I have seen others speculate about this, but I can confirm that is true.

Catholics are just as bad if not worse, they've got about a dozen different "get out of jail free" cards, the three most obvious being confession, last rites and indulgences. Funnily enough, Nick was raised catholic, switched to Lutheran later - I imagine thats where he got the idea he could just buy his way out of damnation and other problems in life.

Unsurprising. Also not surprising that Nick didn't pull the trigger. I don't think he really has any assets left except the house, and if he's being truthful that the house is in a trust with the kids as the beneficiaries, he's fucked.
