While we're on that, Arno Dorian was my fave until Dragonslayer Ornstein broke that streak. He still looks good despite the game being 11 years old. He got me back into Assassin's Creed.
Ornstein is so hot. Souls games have a lot of great suits of armor.
For me Artorias is the best video game husband from the Souls series (Sekiro and Bloodborne husbands deserve their own post and I haven't played Elden Ring yet). His design is awesome and his lore is tragic, perfect "I could have saved him" material.
I think for me at least, it's more about the general personality and "aura" as the kids call it nowadays. Competency, power, and strength can definitely be attractive, but sometimes being pathetic is the charm-point. I know little about Elden Ring, but doesn't Thiollier have a lot of fangirls for this reason?
Kinda. Thiollier finds his inner strength near the end and shows up to the Leda fight with lines like "Miquella will never be a god" and "not the finest blade, nor the mightiest armor will spare your life from the poison of Thiollier". An arguably more "pathetic" character would be Moore, but he's a bug under that armor and also comes across as a bit slow and has mommy issues. I get that the bug part is not a deal breaker for you.
No as most of the time AI companions are annoying. They either get in the way or detrimental to your goal as they are part of the dreaded escort quest. I don't care if they are bad or suboptimal as if I like their character and their mannerism i'll pick them over the stronger character and shore up their weakness with items and skill.
