It was an unfinished pile of shit rushed for a summer 2003 release to capitalize on the second Jolie movie Paramount was just about to release in theatres, and it was also warning signs of bad things to come just ten years later

I've never seen anyone defend AoD gameplay-wise - and no one should because it's a total embarassment - just in terms of the story, which was genuinely good and a fuckton of missed potential. They had something going with Kurtis but he'll most likely never reappear again.

Sadly, there are people who do defend the game because of the name brand and the shitty shipping of Lara and Kurtis, and even some defending it because but muh Core Design

I hope the level designer of Tomb Raider 2 stubs his toe.
Pitfalls directly around corners, timers that don't allow a single mistake, mandatory falls off ledges that nearly take all your HP.
Everything is slightly more convoluted than it needs to be; it can't just be one crate you have to move, it's always shuffling three around for a minute.
The whole thing is so antagonistic towards the player. It's like those old adventure games where you keep dying in unpredictable ways, and the dev had more fun thinking about all the players he was going to make seethe than anyone who actually played the game.
Still better than Nu-Raider.

I reinstalled Tomb Raider 2013 (on linux) yesterday because I wanted to see if I could get some easy achievements that I didn't unlock years ago. I really hate the QTE stuff. I'm sure it's fine on consoles but it's atrocious on PC with keyboard and mouse. The intro was harder to play than the rest of the game, just because of those awful QTEs.

The only reason why shit like Angel of Darkness was praised was simply because of shit such as this. They don't care if it was a rushed, buggy failure, they just care so much about Kurtis and the fact that they keep shipping him with Lara with their retarded fan works

This is gonna be ass. This Lara Croft design looks worse than nu-Raider.
You can also see the marry band of diversity is already visible in the trailer.
Will be interesting to see which people in the griftosphere are going to pretend this isn't so bad and actually quite enjoyable.
