I'm pretty sure it was also Marlboro that originally had red colored filter tips so ladies' lipstick would just blend in and not be noticeable and look trashy like it would smeared on the filter of other brands.

Like I can understand buying a model or two that look nice on a shelf for decoration, but why would anyone want a shelf like this? It looks absolutely hideous. It's not even themed and has no regard for what colours go well next to others, it's literally just a mush of "things from brands I like" plastic tat, most of which looks cheap quality but probably cost $30-40

The lack of themeing is the big issue for me. When dealing with lots of little figures the trick is to make each shelf a diorama. For example, take all those pokemon figures put them on a their own shelf and position them so they look like their fighting (bonus points if you take time and effort to decorate an environment for them). Big centerpiece models like the MC head can go on top of shelves or next to the books.

Shit like this is how high fashion brands make most of their money. The vast majority of people will never afford spending thousands on a dress or a suit from these companies, but many people are willing to spend $100-500 on small designer items (belts, scarves, sunglasses, wallets, makeup, perfume, knickknacks like this) that let them buy into the fantasy of being able to afford designer labels.

It’s always amazing to watch when people simply assume things, and then, boldly and with a lot of confidence, elaborate on what they just assumed, presenting it as fact. Let’s not be redditors, please.

For example Versace, their Accessoires are only around 30% of sales, and those have a way smaller margin than the more expensive pieces.

This started with the original Star Wars toys I'm pretty sure.

For those that don't know, due to a lot of corporate and hollywood bullshittery the toys were not available when the movie went to theaters. To get them extra time, they sold these cardboard boxes and promised you'd totally get the toys later in the mail when they were done. They didn't even know what the toys would look like.
