The Target exclusive NECA Ninja Turtles figures people want rarely ever actually make it to shelf due to employee scalper rings, this is fucking brazen as hell of a move to respond to the publics outcry and demand for wider availability of the damn things. Jesus fuck, how horrible. They aren't even like the big NECA figures either that actually warrant a 40 dollar pricetag, they're just basic ass color variants.Never seen a more clear cut example View attachment 4045197
Yeah, definitely to make Marlboro the manly cigarette. In the 70s, Camel also had their own manly man, but he was a jungle exploring adventurer type, always in different wild places around the world.Basically this, prior to the 1960's or so filtered cigs were specifically marketed as the women's brand and so when companies started trying to market filtered cigs to men they had to get rid of that stigma. Cowboys and a "smooth, cool taste" became the marketing strategy.
And then after that Camel started to market themselves as the classy upscale brand smoked by doctors and lawyers, which meant that when Marlboro came in with the rugged blue collar cowboy Camel ended up being undercut by Marlboro.Camel also had their own manly man, but he was a jungle exploring adventurer type, always in different wild places around the world.
The lack of themeing is the big issue for me. When dealing with lots of little figures the trick is to make each shelf a diorama. For example, take all those pokemon figures put them on a their own shelf and position them so they look like their fighting (bonus points if you take time and effort to decorate an environment for them). Big centerpiece models like the MC head can go on top of shelves or next to the books. There's a forum I used to browse that has a lot of people like this and I just don't get it

Like I can understand buying a model or two that look nice on a shelf for decoration, but why would anyone want a shelf like this? It looks absolutely hideous. It's not even themed and has no regard for what colours go well next to others, it's literally just a mush of "things from brands I like" plastic tat, most of which looks cheap quality but probably cost $30-40
To be fair, they are kind of important, because imessages uses internet data and thus is free, while SMS do cost money on many plansiMessenger colors are the greatest marketing psyop of our time. Really bites into the conspicious consumption market because you get outed every time you try to message someone who gives a shit about the effect your phone has on your social standing.
If I wanted to waste my money on something that won't be delivered, I'll just try buying a current gen game console on Wal-Mart's website.Never seen a more clear cut example View attachment 4045197
It’s always amazing to watch when people simply assume things, and then, boldly and with a lot of confidence, elaborate on what they just assumed, presenting it as fact. Let’s not be redditors, please.Shit like this is how high fashion brands make most of their money. The vast majority of people will never afford spending thousands on a dress or a suit from these companies, but many people are willing to spend $100-500 on small designer items (belts, scarves, sunglasses, wallets, makeup, perfume, knickknacks like this) that let them buy into the fantasy of being able to afford designer labels.

Reminds me of that image that was going around of the two silver bars that were for sale on some website where the physical bars were out of stock, but the exact same bar was available "in storage". They just couldn't send it to you; don't worry, it totally exists, trust me bro.Wow. A $40 figure you pay to...leave sitting in the warehouse? Store until you have a house to display it in ()? Prevent someone else from having it? Brazen balls on these boys
I havent seen a plan charge for sms in a decade. Sms was unlimited since data became a thing in the statesTo be fair, they are kind of important, because imessages uses internet data and thus is free, while SMS do cost money on many plans
This started with the original Star Wars toys I'm pretty sure.Never seen a more clear cut example View attachment 4045197
Europoors stay losing lol. SMS is a terrible standard though, unencrypted and easily spoofable. It makes sense to differentiate between those and iMessages, not that normies would care about privacyI havent seen a plan charge for sms in a decade. Yes. I can't find the video you're talking about, but I remember seeing it, too. I think they did a lot of SEO cleanup, because if you search for things like "Soylent Factory" or even "Soylent Factory, California" you get a lot more search results about the movie.Wait isn't soylent the same company ran by a bunch of mouth breathers in a warehouse that poisoned people with their nutrition bars, had mouldy products, and rat droppings in their powders?

Funny enough, Canada banned the use of Soylent products more than a few years ago:Yes. I can't find the video you're talking about, but I remember seeing it, too. Yeah the only thing I could find was some older forum posts showing pictures of the mold, not much else. Glad I'm not crazy because I remember a pretty scathing video on it too.Yes. Probably for the best if what I remember is still the norm. They look like a clean shiny company from their advertising, but their warehouse and manufacturing wasn't much better than a backyard company shoveling ingredients out of bags into smaller bags.Funny enough, Canada banned the use of Soylent products more than a few years ago:
I do too! I remember distinctly a shot of something small and brown running between two white plastic barrels.Yeah the only thing I could find was some older forum posts showing pictures of the mold, not much else. Glad I'm not crazy because I remember a pretty scathing video on it too.
Yes. Apparently they have a small group of people who went all-in and still have fridges full of the stuff. The kind of guys who were their original target group are still consooming.Have they just been slinking by in the shadows of silicon valley?
