Well, this is fun.

KiA is now boasting over 60,044 members as a result of the latest stupidity. The numbers barely moved on Rapp and the Tracer-pose thing gained KiA about a thousand and change across both "incidents". It looks like calling all the DnD guys (who, lest we forget, tend to have a lot of spending power) a bunch of Gamgergaters has... thrown them into the pit with every one else and seen a spike of nearly 3,000 new members to KiA alone.

Ouch.

This reminds me of the one and only time I have ever felt like literally ripping a game out of the console and chucking it out the window- and honestly the only reason I didn't is because my best friend wanted to play co-op on it.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=lG_VItFUEEIAnd this is one of the many reasons why I'm not going to buy another Gearbox game (esp. one with Burch's name attached to it). I have no problem with strong females, but I do have issue with any developer that feels the need to make every single one of their male characters into a simpering beta male or muttering lunatic (with the exceptions of Axiom who is borderline crazypants, and Roland, who was black and now dead).

As for the topic on hand- just another developer who doesn't understand subtlety and ham-fists their leanings into a game. Still looking for the day where we can have writers create transgender, gay, and not-white characters without having to rely on direct explanations or relying on stereotypes to help explain that a character is transgender, gay, or not-white.
Lol, calm down its just a dumb fucking joke. I fucking hated the MLP shit in the second one but that didnt send me into a bitter vendetta in which i took up a Blarms tier protest against a company. i even still played the second game.

Perfectly calm dude. I'm not telling other people that they can't enjoy Gearbox games, nor do I have any desire to vandalize property because Anthony Burch is a sniveling jackass. I'm just stating that this kind of tripe, along with shoddy business practices (see- Aliens: CM, ripoff season-passes... I mean even more of a ripoff than season passes are in the first place) has pretty much left me on a sour note with them- which really sucks because I really enjoyed Borderlands 2, memes and all.

Add another bullet to the list of silly things removed from video games because they're deemed offensive. No more Donut Drake.

"I didn't want to have a laugh at someone’s expense," adding that, "I thought we’d matured beyond that." says creative director Neil Druckmann whilst publishing a game where you murder hundreds of people while making smarmy quips.

Man, now even Naughty Dog is caving? They're usually great about just doing their own thing. The only other time I saw them change something in response to criticism was when Ellen Page got frustrated they blatantly used her likeness for Last of Us.

Which was hilarious because Beyond Two Souls came out at the same time, and I bet Ellen now wishes she allowed Naughty Dog to use her image in The Last Of Us.

Good job, Naughty Dog. Now the Uncharted series will only have beautiful mass-murderers in it- just like nature intended. Make sure to throw in child murder and an underage lesbian into the mix and I'm sure you'll win GOTY for sure.

To be fair they didn't just use Ellen's likeness in Beyond: she was the actual main character.

I never thought Doghnut Drake was malicious in mocking fat people. Is also kind of shitty to admit that is already in the code but ND suddenly decided against it because "maturity", feels condescending as fuck.

Druckmann has always being a little SJW, one of the people that championed Anita Sarkessian early on. Dunno if I will cad this caving in as there is bigger SJW bitching points in Uncharted 4.

Edit:

Guys, do you feel guilty about not caring about social and cultural politics when playing video games?

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1204798

Do you ever feel guilty about enjoying a game that doesn't have a lot of diversity? #1
Final Fantasy XV is coming out soon, and I could not be more hyped for it. It's one of the few games me and my friends, who generally have very different tastes, are all excited to try out together. This is because we love the bro roadtrip tone of the game. It reminds us of how we sometimes just take time off to go on dumb roadtrips with each other, have some fun and bro out. So when we saw what the game was about we basically all went "Great!" and all got pretty hyped about it.

That said, in spite of how much the game interests me, I can see why the game definitely wouldn't appeal to others, especially since Final Fantasy was a generally inclusive series to start with. So...well, I genuinely feel bad about people who feel left out by the game. I can see why it would bug them that the game went with a cast and setting that makes them feel like the game isn't for them.

Yet when people say things like "The game should have X" I kind of feel guilty because I can't really join the chorus saying that. I mean, a part of me would be glad for cast changes in FFXV because I know how much the lack of female characters in the party bothers people. At the same time, for purely selfish reasons, I would probably enjoy the game less. One thing me and my friends genuinely enjoy about road trips is that we kind of let our guards down and let down on the "grrr guys don't talk about feelings to other guys" stereotype. It's a fun experience, and I'm kind of hoping the game goes for that bromance feeling of a road trip that we had. It's not so much that my friends and I think female characters would change the dynamic and more that we like seeing male characters openly express affection for each other. It's nice, and combined with the road trip feeling, it's just something we kind of can relate to, you know? So FFXV is definitely something we are all looking forward to.

Buuuuut end of the day, I still feel a tad guilty about enjoying the game as is because I can tell a lot of people feel excluded by it. It's like "Maaaan, this appeals to me, but I wish it appealed to other people too." Like, my girlfriend is fine with the game because she finds the ridiculous kpop star look fucking hilarious, but at the same time I also have other friends who are let down by the cast.

Hell, end of the day, if somehow the decision to magically make the game more inclusive or not came to me...I'd probably make the game more inclusive. It would lost out on the themes I'm looking forward to, but I'd feel like a bit of a dick being selfish about that considering how there are so many games that appeal to my tastes, even if not as much as FFXV's bro road trip, since the aren't a lot of games that are too inclusive. Like a sort of "Yeah, I'd enjoy the game less, but I'd probably support a change since it would be fair" kind of feeling.

I guess what I meant to create the thread for is to ask--anybody else have moments where they enjoy a game as is for personal reasons but feel a sort of guilt in that because they want others to enjoy being represented as well? I was wondering if that was a me thing or if more people felt that way.

Glad the first post in GAF was not that BS of "you can enjoy 'problematic' stuff, you sinner".

Ok. I will risk a powerlevel. I'm fat. I cheerfully admit it because most of my thin relatives were perpetually miserable bastards while I was and am fat and happy.

I am highly offended and triggered at this anti fat crusade continues in video games, and demand instant representation in vidya and for all developers to bow to my every last whim no matter how batshit insane.

I shall now make an entire career off of this one thing, pigeon-holing me for all eternity not as a human being but as a Feminist fat person.

I shall call the show Feminine Fattist Frequency.

Plz donate to my gofundme, indiegogo, Kickstarter and Patreon at the same time as for some reason me talking in front of a screen that I've already shot requires at least $400,000.

I too am fat, but donut drake is hilarious
Yeah, donut Drake looks like a jolly guy. Who besides Naughty Dog, NeoGAF, and other individuals and groups be offended by that?

Whats there to even be offended by? he's fat, so what. its not like playing as him comes with the side effect to having heart attacks and having to stop and replenish your health by eating a big fag burg.

Something something fat-shaming something something body-negativity something something healthism.

Well, there is this, which may or may not have been linked earlier.

It's actually an accurate portrayal of a tumblr tranny who just walks up to you, starts babbling inanely about what a total tranny they are, tells you about their bullshit, made-up name, and is generally a nuisance.

I wonder how they came into existence hundreds of years before tumblr existed.

And why nobody clobbered them over the head with something.

Baldur's Gate 2 had a whiny character that was purely self-centered and seemed to obsess with their own privilege and personal loss.

Seriously. She's such a fucking downer. I'm dealing with the fact I'm an evil god's anchor baby and this bitch wants to talk about how much she misses flying again. Jaheira was more fun and her husband just died.

Hey, leave mai waifu alone!
But yeah, they did lay the tragedy on a bit thick at first. But she got better later on, especially in Throne of Bhaal, and when she was at her worst, Jaheira at least tried to get her to shape up.

Actually, as much as Torgue's shoehanded bullshit about friendzoning annoyed me, it also made me laugh at how they felt the need to shove Janey's homosexuality every opportunity they got...

...and they absolutely forgot they made Moxxi bisexual as of the Torgue DLC in the last game.

In fact, it's kind of hilarious how Moxxi is intentionally the oversexualized babe and yet as of Pre-Sequel, despite being incapable of saying three lines without a sexual innuendo, she is very much a strong, independent woman...with the closest thing to STEM education any woman (including Tannis) has in the game since she effortlessly understands the BFG and how to destroy it without the guy who built it understanding what's really going on until it's too late.

Oh God, why? I hope this is just an impersonator doing the voice, not the original Minsc. Jim Cummings voiced Winnie the Pooh for fuck's sake, what did he ever do to deserve being made to read that line?

Why would anyone throw in something that is guaranteed to cause a million autists to spaz out in tandem?

It's like throwing in a random line about circumcision and then acting amazed you started a shitposting thread.
