The third is the most stable, but I still detect some kind of bpd. He still lives at home for some reason despite keeping a job and having a lot of healthy hobbies. However he recently confided in me that he was just diagnosed with some hormone disorders and now that it's being treated, he doesn't feel like much of a woman. He wonders if having an undiagnosed thyroid thing resulted in low hormones, and made him confused. He was considering going back to just being a gay dude but he's scared to make the plunge.
I don’t know how well you know this guy, but sounds like a decent opportunity to make the world a little better and save a man from mutilating himself.
In any case, all of them have mental health issues that seemed to have gotten worse after they became their "true selves." All of them have been approved for meds or procedures despite these clear mental health issues. It's messed up.
That’s exactly why they used to have strict demands on everyone who wanted to transition, to exclude things like mental illness.
In most cases where it’s not outright autogynophilia, it’s mental illness and autism that’s driving these transitions.
Like any cult, they give people a simple fix to their problems, that does fuck all to actually address them.
And like any cult, when you start taking the first steps and the results don’t match the expectations (because you’re barely treating the symptoms let alone the underlying issue) they got another easy answer for you.
“Oh, we’ll just wait till you try OT1/start on hormones! That’s where the real changes start and all these issues will disappear!”
“The real game changer is OT3/Getting FFS surgery! Trust us, we’ve all been there!”
(Of course, vague accusations about “how transphobic society is” also go a long way to explain the lack of happiness.)
And down the rabbit hole they go.
Until sunk cost fallacy takes over, and they’ve spent half a decade, five or six figures, have mutilated their bodies beyond repair. And the only thing keeping the thought of 41%ing at bay, is an undefined rage at everyone else, and a stubborn insistence against all reason, that they’re “so much happier living as their TRUE selves!”
