The one that gained popularity is David Reiner, that lost his penis during circumcision, but fortunately he didn't have a vaginoplasty. A lot of boys with ambiguous genitalia did, though. John Money would pressure the kids during puberty to have a vaginoplasty to become "complete" woman.

While David didn't have the vaginoplasty, though, I found an article (posted on the SRS thread) that talks about 3 other boys that also lost their penis as babies in circumcision accidents and they DID have vaginoplasties or were documented as being "on their way". The vaginoplasties happened when they were teenagers (14-17) too. And the doctors that published this "treatment" are still working today.
