Like you noted, it's unlikely people will use third-person pronouns in direct conversations. It's primarily there to virtue signal. When I encounter someone using these pronoun sets, I assume one of two things:

1. They genuinely believe in the movement, in which case I dissociate from them as much as I can and only interact when necessary.
2. They've been cowed to not step out of line, and further testing is needed to see how much of a shitlord they have inside them.

I've known people who were literally raped on campus and not only did the college not give a shit, they side with the male abuser to the point where if the students wanted to complete their education (cos transferring can be messy and expensive) they had to be escorted around campus by friends in case they happened to cross paths with the rapist who was also still attending the college.

Campus police are a joke. Most colleges tell students they have to call them first instead of 911 so they can keep incidents (rape/overdose/death) hush hush.

No way is this case making it off campus unless the girl being harassed is willing to make a national news story out of it.
