Featured on Dec 4, 2023 by 0 0: The Completionist is still being put to task over hundreds of thousands of dollars missing that were intended for charity.
Part 1: Our Protagonist
Jirard Khalil is your typical 2010s Let's Player clinging to relevancy, most well known for his channel TheCompletionist (formerly ThatOneVideoGamer), where he posts videos autistically combing through the games he plays for every achievement and unlockable, along with other IRL "completionist" works.
As years have gone by and the creator space was replaced by fresher faces and vtuber avatars, however, his content has mostly devolved into algorithmic pandering sprinkled with the typical consoomerism that's to be expected of a man pushing 40 that got emotionally invested in the Mario Movie.
That's not to say Mister Khalil has contributed nothing to society, though! After all, the man did spend $22,791 to buy every game released on the WiiU and 3DS eshops in a groundbreaking win for video game preservation.
Truly a hero to fans of obscure shit from the 2010s, and not just a retard attempting to maintain media relevancy among digital packrats like myself.
His more valuable contributions, however, came in 2018, where Jirard started the IndieLand charity event. Here, Jirard and his mates would livestream indie games to their audience while also encouraging them to donate money to the Open Hand Foundation, a charity organization founded by Jirard's father, Charles Khalil, following his wife's diagnosis of Frontotemporal Dementia in 2003.
Through the Indieland charity's existence, Jirard and the Open Hand Foundation managed to raise $600,000 over the 5 years that the Indieland fundraiser began, which was donated to Benefactors such as UCSF's Memory and Aging Center. And with an origin story that tugs at the heartstrings, it received widespread media coverage and accolades from basically everyone in the gaming scene, further snowballing the success.
Part 2: The Fraud
Earlier this month, an pair of expose videos were released by the Ozzy Speedrunner Karl Jobst and Canadian Arch Linux addict Mutahar "SomeOrdinaryGamers" Anas.
Important disclaimer: There are multiple charities that operate under the name "Open Hand", one of which is associated with and endorsed by UCSF Hospital called Project Open Hand, completely unrelated to Jirard's fuckup.
In these videos, the duo go over the tax filings of the Open Hand Foundation, revealing that despite raising over $600,000 for charity over the past 5 years, the Open Hand Foundation paid out nothing to its listed beneficiary, UCSF. In fact, for several years now the money seems to have been sitting in the bank account doing nothing, sans $74,266 of expenses spent over the course of 5 years.
Upon being confronted by Mutahar and Karl, Jirard floundered out the following response to this:
Jirard, 8:47 - I knew it was sitting there - at a certain point, and that's what m-made me proactively go about it. Like I was made aware in 2022 when the, when the money hadn't moved yet. And that's what made me go "That's not fucking cool", and that's when I got personally involved to move it.
Most people that aren't scumbags would have immediately spoken out about such gross mismanagement, but not Jirard. Despite learning at some point in 2022 of the misappropriation of funds, Jirard continued on with operating both the 2022 and 2023 Indieland Charity events just as he had for the past few events.
And much like Jirard, that's what made me go "That's not fucking cool."
Part 3: How much money is left, J Compleezy?
According to Jirard, the funds raised by Indieland are all sitting in the foundation's bank account, minus those mysterious expenses. So that would mean somewhere around $530,000 is sitting in the bank, right? No, because there's a bit more shady behavior that predates the foundation of Indieland, dating back a decade.

With the documents generously provided to us by Misters Jobst and Anas, we see that a total of $783,915 was raised by the Foundation between 2014 and 2022, with a gross $658,520 left over after expenses. According to the tax filings, none of this money has been donated to UCSF or any other organization since the death of Jirard's mom in 2013.
While over a hundred thousand dollars of this money was unrelated to Indieland, it bears stating that Jirard himself has been a director of this charity for a decade now. The idea that he would be unaware of where the money was going given his position is frankly ludicrous.
Unfortunately, we likely will not have a full understanding of how much money the organization truly had left over until the IRS getting involved, which will likely happen within the near future thanks to the awareness being raised by Muta and Karl.
Part 4: The lies
Below are a number of lies spouted by Jirard and other members of the Khalil family through the Open Hand Foundation. By no means is this a comprehensive list, but the important highlights are here.
The fact that the money was going to charity.
As we've discovered, in the most charitable scenario there's $655k sitting in a bank somewhere. In the least charitable scenario, the Khalil family has drained the funds completely. In spite of this, Jirard has claimed numerous times that the money was being actively donating the money to dementia research organizations, even after allegedly learning that Open Hand hasn't donated a penny in the decade of its existence as a 501 (c) (3).
"These organizations only care about big donations."
According to Jirard, most research organizations and hospitals only really cared about donations once they break the 8-figure range. I dunno about any of you Kiwibros, but when I check the website for UCSF or other similar orgs, I'm greeted with a menu ranging from $50 to $2,500, with an "other" box allowing you to choose your own amount as low as $25. So the options are either Jirard made this excuse up on the spot to justify their inaction, or the Khalil family was waiting to save up enough money to get UCSF to name the MAC ward after them.
"Prior to our official registration as a foundation, we donated body parts for research..."
I gotta be real, I've got no idea what the fuck they're talking about here. I done some independent research into this, but outside of blood, the mom volunteering for experimental treatment, or donating the mom's body to science I can't find any relevant biological donations that the Khalils could make that would be of any value to dementia research. And in those cases I can't find any justification for the dodginess Jirard's brother had with the subject.
"... and made financial contributions, to an institution that, in our view, made insufficient progress in the fight against these debilitating conditions."
Dementia, alzheimer's, and other neurological degradation diseases are some of the most complex and poorly understood conditions that the human body hcan develop, in part due to the fact that the brain is the most complex and poorly understood part of the human body. If the Khalil family actually expected their donations to immediately lead to breakthroughs in dementia research, they're either delusional, have a really poor grasp on how charity works, or both. In either case, the family shouldn't be in charge of a charity foundation.
Part 5: Barbara 'Who' Effect? AKA, why you don't file a takedown request on an expose video.
On November 15th, Karl Jobst reported that he received a privacy complaint from the Open Hand Foundation for his reporting on the charity fraud. Fortunately the complaint was rejected, however Jirard and his family have shown their willingness to shut down the public criticism in order to save face. Tweet Link
As a reminder to the Khalil family, all of the documentation discussed in Karl and Mutahar's videos is in the public record and being discussed for the benefit of those who believed their donations would actually see research organizations.
Part 6: The Tard Guard
Although the response to the recent expose has been generally positive, there is a small detachment of associates of Jirard that are sticking their head in the sand.
Noted Sailor Moon cosplayer Jared "ProJared" Knabenbauer immediately jumped to the defense of Jirard, in the process confirming he hadn't watched the videos, which presented both a decade of tax filings and a confrontation with Jirard over discord.
Gaijin Goombah steps up to bat for Jirard, completely disregarding the fact that being friendly and being a coniving fraud are not in fact mutually exclusive. Link (archive)
From the Talking Anime NFT collection, we have MissFushi, reminding the world that it's impossible to take someone seriously whilst they hide behind an Anime PFP. Link (archive)
And of course, we have James Ronald of EpicGameMusic, apparently missing the fact that this charity has been failing to uphold its promises for the entirety of its existence. Link (archive)
Sparknotes Summary for the class
In conclusion, Jirard Khalil is an excellent example for prospective charity organizers of a few things:
Youtubers are charlatans that cannot be trusted, don't leave them in charge of managing charity funds intended to support medical research.
Transparency goes a long way. Jirard obviously was going to face serious fallout no matter when or how this news broke. However, it would have gone much smoother and with less damage to Jirard's reputation had he broken it himself.
No matter how smart you think you are, all it takes is a handful of autists digging through your tax filings to find out you've been withholding donations.
The more attention your charity gets, the more scrutiny your organization will be under. Don't be an idiot, just donate the money like you said you would.

Featured on Dec 3, 2023 by Null: ROBLOX and Twitch's payment processor, Tipalti, has been compromised by ransomware group ALPHV, who is now attempting to extort payment.
Developing story: ALPHV is ransoming ROBLOX's processor Tipalti, which is used to process DevEx (developers use this to get money), and star requests (for video creators). This is on the ALPHV website (archive). This also affects Twitch, as well.
We have remained present, undetected, in multiple Tipali systems since September 8th 2023. Over 265GB+ of confidential business data belonging to the company, as well as its employees and clients has been exfiltrated. We remain committed to this exfiltration operation, so we plan to reach out to both these companies once the market opens on Monday as we believe we will have an even greater amount of data by then, in addition to the likely inability of the Tipali company to be able to contain our efforts by then, given their incompetency and taking into account that an insider was , and is still actively involved. This article will be republished on Monday just before the market opens, to maximize the impact to the $RBLX stock price.
Outing victims before they even get a chance to respond is a bad business practice, but given that Tipalti's insurance policy does not cover cyber extortion and considering the behavior of the executive team in general, observed through internal communications, we believe the likelihood of them reaching out on our terms is unlikely, regardless of the sensitivity of data in question. Another justification for this outing is due to us identifying a previous extortion attempt that occurred last year by a different group where the Roblox company engaged in excessive stalling, over a considerable period of time - we observed that no payment was made in this case. We will treat potential smart-asses like the filthy criminals they are. If these 2 victims do not pay up, we will engage in the publication of data in multiple phases, over the next few months, to maximise the impact to the companies and affected clients. In the case of Roblox, we plan to individually extort affected parties such as their creators, for who we have significant confidential for, including tax documents.
If you are not prepared to talk figures within 2 hours of receiving the file lists or samples, we will immediately resort to the strategies we have mentioned earlier. There is no room to negotiate for these 2 companies, you either pay or you don't.
To conclude… according to scholarly articles in this field such as the work of Dykstra et al. (2022), paying a ransom has possible benefits, such as in situations where the impacted organization faces significant negative externalities, which these victims do.
We look forward to reaching a resolution here.

There is a sacred tradition. A noble tradition. A tradition that goes back over five years! That tradition is the Kiwi Farms Secret Santa. It spreads joy and happiness and helps keep this ramshackle community of ours together. You don't have to be super-talented to participate, you just have to have the Kiwifarms spirit in your heart! Read the rules and sign up below.
Rules are largely the same as previous years with a special note about AI generated art (short version, don't. Longer version, below):
The Rules
How it works: Sign up below and you will get a lovely gift from an anonymous user. But even better - you will be assigned a random other participant you get to make a gift for. Then when gifts are exchanged via the magic of Santa's Helpers, we post them in a gift thread for all to see!
1. The gift must be something you made yourself.
It must be something you created, and something transferable via PM
Look, we know this is the big thing, We know that a list of Likes and Dislikes is almost tailor made to be spat into a piece of software as positive and negative prompts. BUT, we're asking you not to do it. It's not in the spirit of making something yourself for your fellow man. Now we do know that there can be a lot of talent and creativity involved in AI Generated Art. But we also know that if we open the lid on that just a little bit we're going to get a LOT of AI art submissions that *don't* meet that criteria. Which then puts us in the position of either creating ill-feeling by no passing on someone's gift or letting through something that was just the recipient's Likes and Dislikes shoved into ChatGPT. And worse, that choice will be last minute creating more pressure on the already generous X-MAS SPIRIT BOTS who fill in for missing presents. So we hope AI enthusiasts understand but this year we will *not* be welcoming our robot overlords. We will be making crappy and not-crappy gifts as our ancestors did - with MS Paint, Photoshop and sharpies. Etc. This isn't some Reddit-tier philosophical thing about whether AI art is "real" art or not. It's just pragmatic that for the most part, people get more joy from receiving something some retard has scribbled out over an hour with crayons than they do some perfect AI creation.
Now, this is still listed as "Probably Unacceptable" because there are some people out there who MIGHT do something weird and super creative that involves AI and wants to use their own judgement on this. Maybe they made a song and want to just throw in some AI generated illustrations in the mp4. I don't know. Just be clear that photoshopping a bunch of AI generated characters together or pasting someone's face into AI art doesn't make it not an AI submission. We're going to be strict on this.
In summary, this is something from the heart and must be something that you did not pay for. This also includes anything purchasable that you received for free, so if you have an extra game key, that is still unacceptable. This must be something you made yourself.
2. The gift must be appropriate
Photoshops of shock images, gore, etc. This is Kiwifarms and we are different here. Just remember that the gift is meant to make your recipient feel good or laugh or be entertained.
3. Please turn it in on time.
Sign-ups will last until 6th of December. You will receive your assignment shortly thereafter. You might even receive it before once there are enough people in the pool so signing up early is good. From there you have until December 20th to turn in your gift which is the Wednesday before Christmas. We'll try and accommodate gifts up to the Friday but understand you're making other people's lives harder - please aim for the Wednesday. If you cannot create your gift in time, you have until December 15th to drop out without punishment. If you fail to turn in a gift and do not give an explanation, you may not be allowed to participate in future Secret Santa events.
4. Sign up requirements.
In order to participate you must:
Be in good standing (general catch-all to exclude someone who we know will be a fuckhead)
Have not been banned from Previous Secret Santas (we have one person so bad we had to. Don't be the second).
Have DMs open. Most people do except those three motherfuckers last year that we had no way to contact and I had to start @'ing them in conversations. You can close DMs again afterwards you antisocial gits!
To sign up, just post in this thread with the following:

Keep to this format. Whatever other comments you want to share, please do them after filling out the above as a single block. We deal with replies in volume and this helps us just copy and paste the same format.
Don't DM your info to a helper. Post it in this thread. But you can DM questions if you have them.
What is an X-MAS SPIRIT BOT 9000? The X-mas spirit bots are noble heroes who step in at the last minute to make sure someone gets a present when their assigned giver flakes out at the last moment. They don't have to do this but they do because they're better than ordinary people. Understand that if you volunteer this means you'll probably get a frantic PM in the last week before Christmas asking you to produce something. But without you, someone could get nothing. If you'd be able to do a quick gift on short notice, we thank you.
We also need Helpers. If you want to help with organising this, answering questions and handing out gifts, just PM myself or @TheCuntler. You'll be assigned a list of participants and expected to send and receive messages with questions and gifts for sending out, assuming we need to call on you.
5. This is a SECRET Santa.
Don't reveal who your recipient is when you get them. If for some reason you need to get clarification on something from them reach out to a helper, NOT your recipient.
The list of helpers and participants is in the post below this one. If you don't appear immediately, don't worry. We're working our way down the list.

Chris not long ago, in August doxed himself at being in Big Island, VA, at the post office. @Tennis-Ball-Tony pointed out you can see Sonchu at this house in the Oct 23 streetview.
Caden smartly covered it up because he knows everyone is constantly on the lookout for Virginia's BigFoot Chris chan and will upload blurry snapshots and security camera video to reddit every chance they get. He however, forgot to cover the entire car, exposing the very obvious wheel of a Chevy Aveo LS belonging to Sonchu.

Featured on Nov 15, 2023 by Null: The Guardian has censored a 23-year-old article which contained Osama bin Laden's letter explaining why he attacked the United States, after the letter gained sympathetic second wind on TikTok recently.
AS A FAMOUS @dril tweet noted of the terrorist group ISIS, “You do not, under any circumstances, ‘gotta hand it to them.'” Yet amid the continuing horrors of the war between Israel and Hamas militants, as people struggle to make sense of the violence and escalating rhetoric, more than a few people are willing to give al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden credit for his 2002 polemic against the United States, published as an explanation of the ideology that led him to orchestrate the attacks of 9/11.
“I need everyone to stop what they’re doing right now and go read — it’s literally two pages — go read ‘A Letter to America,'” said TikTok user Lynette Adkins in a video posted to the platform on Tuesday, referring to the title often given to the text by bin Laden. “Come back here and let me know what you think. Because I feel like I’m going through like an existential crisis right now, and a lot of people are. So I just need someone else to be feeling this too.”
Commenters felt similarly awestruck by the document. “Just read it.. my eyes have been opened,” wrote one. “Read our entire existence for filth and he did NOT miss,” another said of bin Laden’s criticisms of the U.S. The clip itself went viral, with other young TikTokers also sharing the letter approvingly, encouraging followers to read it. “We’ve been lied to our entire lives, I remember watching people cheer when Osama was found and killed,” wrote a 25-year-old user who posted the letter in full. “I was a child, and it confused me. It still confuses me today. The world deserves better than what this country has done to them.”
Writing a year after 9/11, bin Laden noted in his message that he was seeking to answer two questions that had occupied American media since that terrible day: “Why are we fighting and opposing you?” and “What are we calling you to, and what do we want from you?” The first section is surely the most relevant to the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as it denounces the U.S. for helping to establish and maintain a Jewish state in the Palestinian territories. “The creation and continuation of Israel is one of the greatest crimes, and you are the leaders of its criminals,” bin Laden argued. “Each and every person whose hands have become polluted in the contribution towards this crime must pay its price, and pay for it heavily.”
Bin Laden expounded further about how the oppression of Palestine had to be “revenged,” going on to impugn Western imperialism and hegemony in broader terms, before shifting into a justification for killing civilians in his jihad. “The American people are the ones who pay the taxes which fund the planes that bomb us in Afghanistan, the tanks that strike and destroy our homes in Palestine, the armies which occupy our lands in the Arabian Gulf, and the fleets which ensure the blockade of Iraq,” he wrote. “This is why the American people cannot be not innocent of all the crimes committed by the Americans and Jews against us.”
While some of bin Laden’s judgments would not have been out of place in mainstream American politics of the era — he takes the U.S. to task for not signing the Kyoto Protocol treaty on restricting emission of greenhouse gases, for example — the letter is also interspersed with antisemitic tropes and hate speech. He repeatedly wrote that the country was dominated by Jews who “control your policies, media and economy,” elsewhere condemning homosexuality and fornication as “immoral,” and accusing the U.S. of spreading AIDS, which he termed a “Satanic American Invention.” As for what al-Qaeda wanted, bin Laden said that the U.S. had to renounce its culture of “hypocrisy” and become an Islamic nation.
The top Google Search result for “Letter to America” directs to a page on the website of TheGuardian, which published it in 2002. For a while on Wednesday, social media-driven interest in the text made it the publication’s top-trending story — but then the outlet removed the letter, and replaced it with a brief message: “This page previously displayed a document containing, in translation, the full text of Osama bin Laden’s “letter to the American people,” as reported in the Observer on Sunday 24 November 2002,” it reads. “The document, which was published here on the same day, was removed on 15 November 2023.” No other explanation is offered.
The deletion prompted even more discussion on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), where people questioned the editorial decision and asked for other links to the document. “Thankfully they can’t wipe our memories, or undo our further radicalization,” wrote an X user who said it was “no coincidence” The Guardian took the article down after it made the rounds online. “They really want us to stay ignorant,” wrote another. A third reader argued that bin Laden “was not the bad guy.” But many were shocked to see sympathy for — or agreement with — the terrorist who masterminded 9/11. “These so-called TikTok leftists praising Osama Bin Laden now?” tweeted one person in apparent disbelief. “How do you get radicalized to be ridiculous?”
If nothing else, it must be a sign of how polarized and angry Americans have become over a Middle East conflict that has already claimed thousands of lives, and the role the U.S. has played in the region for decades. You know things are dire when, for some people engaged in the debate, an extremist mass murderer starts making sense.
This page previously displayed a document containing, in translation, the full text of Osama bin Laden’s “letter to the American people”, as reported in the Observer on Sunday 24 November 2002. The document, which was published here on the same day, was removed on 15 November 2023.
Featured on Nov 15, 2023 by Null: Man who attacked Nancy Pelosi's husband with a hammer claims he was inspired by Gamergate to become an anti-feminist terrorist.
A man accused of a hammer attack on ex-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband has testified how he hatched a plan to end US corruption after becoming absorbed in conspiracy theories.
David DePape, 43, has pleaded not guilty to two charges including attempted kidnap of a federal official.
He cried as he testified how he hatched a bizarre plot that included wearing a unicorn costume while interrogating Ms Pelosi and posting the video online.
If convicted, he faces life in prison.
Closing arguments in the trial are expected on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, in sometimes tearful testimony, Mr DePape told the court he used to have left-wing political beliefs before a political transformation that started when he was living in a garage without a toilet or shower, playing video games for hours at a time.
Giving evidence for more than an hour, he said that in the course of looking up information about video games he became interested in Gamergate, an anti-feminist campaign that targeted prominent women in the gaming world and became a huge online trend starting in 2014.
He began listening to right-wing podcasters and watching political YouTube videos.
"At that time, I was biased against Trump," Mr DePape said, "but there's, like, truth there. So if there's truth out there that I don't know, I want to know it."
He said he formulated a "grand plan" that involved luring "targets" to the Pelosi home.
Inflatable unicorn costume
The names on his list included University of Michigan academic Gayle Rubin, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Tom Hanks, congressman Adam Schiff, former Vice-President Mike Pence, former Attorney General Bill Barr, Senator Bernie Sanders and liberal mega-donor George Soros.
Ultimately, Mr DePape said, he wanted to confront President Joe Biden's son Hunter, and after he got his targets to admit to corruption, he planned to ask the president to pardon everyone he considered a "criminal".
"It's just easier giving them a pardon so we can move forward as a country," he said, crying on the stand.
Mr DePape said he went to the Pelosi home in the early hours of 28 October last year, hoping to talk to Mrs Pelosi about what he thought were false theories of Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election.
He said he planned to wear an inflatable unicorn costume and upload his interrogation of her online. He was arrested with zip ties and duct tape in his possession.
When asked why he hit Mr Pelosi, he responded: "I reacted because my plan was basically ruined."
"He was never my target and I'm sorry that he got hurt," he said.
Mr Pelosi, 83, testified on Monday of his alarm upon waking up to find Mr DePape "standing in the doorway".
Mr Pelosi spent six days in hospital with a fractured skull and injuries to his arm and hand.
Defence lawyers are not denying that Mr DePape struck Mr Pelosi, but they are arguing he was motivated by his belief in conspiracy theories rather than Mrs Pelosi's status as Speaker of the House.
Because the charges involve assault on a federal official, prosecutors must prove that Mr DePape's actions were motivated by Mrs Pelosi's elected position.
