YouTube is suffering a serious outage – with thousands reporting issues with the Google-owned video service.

YouTube users have been confronted with error messages as they tried to login, upload or watch content on the hugely-popular video platform.

It appears that the popular video streaming site went offline at around 2.20am BST, with thousands unable to access content. Many are reporting seeing 'Error 500' when attempting to access content.

Social media sites have been flooded with complaints, with streams of YouTube users in the US and UK saying the Google-owned site was not working for them.

Independent website Down Detector, which measures social mentions around a certain topic to track outages across the globe, shows users reporting problems across the UK, Europe and the United States.

Enraged customers have flooded social media to complain about the problems.

Currently, the website is either not loading, or when it does, refusing to play any videos. Only showing an error message.

YouTube video streaming issues can be caused by many factors. By troubleshooting your internet or device connection, you may be able to play your videos again.

You may be experiencing a video streaming issue if you’ve seen one of these notifications
  • An error has occurred.
  • Playback error. Tap to retry.
  • Connection to server lost.
  • This video is unavailable.
  • Something went wrong. Tap to Retry.
Personally, given that no videos are working across the whole site, we're inclined to think something very bad went wrong, but on YouTube's end.

NASCAR Music Videos :story:

Im just relishing the fact that there's so many assholes out there who simply make all of their shekels off of youtube, with no back up plans or anything, and now they're way more worried about this than anyone who isn't chained to that shitty platform who is just mad they can't get their dopamine rush.

So someone got incriminating evidence on world leaders, and decided to upload them solely to Youtube, and not liveleak or any number of other shady as shit video hosting sites? Or even put them on wikileaks or a governmentally owned propaganda site? I don't believe that shit.
YouTube would just remove it right away and add it to a content ID that blocks it. It's just more conspiracy tinfoil hat paranoia from /pol/ as you'd expect.
