They're definitely riding on the next Call of Duty to sell on its own. With GTA 6 on the horizon, good luck.

but I want to see how project helix works, will it use a shell layer to run windows games the way Steamdecks/SteamOS does or will it somehow run natively?

I think PC games will run natively in Helix using an optimized version of the Windows OS entirely debloated of all functions and subsystem that are not necessary for gaming (they'll keep the telemetry because off course they will) and run Xbox games in emulation or a "virtual console" sandbox. The "Xbox" part of the machine doesn't exists as dedicated hardware, it will all be software based.

I only skimmed through (it’s painful to read all that superficial nonsense), but other than mentioning that Helix will play PC games, there’s nothing in there they couldn’t have said about Series X before launch.

Lists like these:
We have to be honest about where we are. We’re a challenger, and meeting this moment will require pace, energy, and a level of self-critique that should feel uncomfortable. At our best we:

  1. Earn every player
  2. Protect our art
  3. Stay rebellious
  4. Progress over perfection
  5. Signal over ceremony
  6. Core before more
  7. Outwork the problem
  8. Speed is learning
  9. Makers over managers
  10. Clarity is kindness
...make it sound more like an adult day care than a team earnestly seeking to make the best video game console they can. I don’t even know what “signal over ceremony” or “core before more” means.

"Stay rebellious"? Against who? Valve, Nintendo, and Sony, who all have a much better reputation in this field? I don't think that rebellion has worked out so well.

"Speed is learning"? The fuck does that mean? Like the drug?

"Protect our art"? Like all that awful flat art that every corporation uses now?

Those jeets really aren't doing themselves any favors. Half of that whole statement even felt AI generated. If Project Helix is going to act as a Windows machine with an Xbox shell, I can already forsee all the memes calling it the best Xbox to date because you can install Steam on it. Followed by how Steam Machine's a better thing because of some perplexing limitation in the Xbox.

“core before more”
Core Values... two words when uttered together will do more harm to a company than help (see EVO with the DOA series).

It's safe to say that this means before they decide to give players any new features they will stick to whatever "Core Values" they have set on a specific project first and will evaluate if said new features align with their "Core Values"
"Stay rebellious"?
Libshit talk meaning "fuck critics, they're all [insert buzzword here], so their opinions don't matter". Essentially they will double/triple/quadruple down on whatever bullshit they try to push on gamers.

That lists looks like its written by a mom at home that have had to much wine.

Remember the "jump in" slogan with the Xbox logo? They should revisit that but with a twist. The slogan would be "jump" and there would be a giant white chalk X on the pavement as you're looking down from a suicide jumper's POV
I jumped out of a building because of a video game console? Holy shitballs

Nooo not you personally you silly silly man! The guy from the ad. This is clearly an ad in the making, truth in advertizing kind of shit.

The guy would stare down from the roof, see the giant X and jump. If the video is paused at the right moment, one could see that the guy is holding a copy of Starfield. Right before he hits the ground the screen goes black and you hear the Xbox power off sound. Then the text "jump" appears with a ghostly see-through image of all the Xbox CEOs nodding in silent sympathy.

It's quite clear in my head, my poor verbal skills can't possibly relate the whole beauty of it
