Looks like Call of Duty will be pulled from day one Game Pass release. So now you will have to pay 70 dollars to play day one. :stress:

Microsoft reportedly didn't manage to make the profits it had hoped for. Back in October 2025, reports claimed that Xbox lost more than $300 million in console and PC sales for the game as players chose to play Call of Duty through Xbox Game Pass rather than purchase it outright. At the time, this was believed to be a major reason why Microsoft decided to raise the prices for the subscription service across all tiers. Now, it seems like the company might have plans to pull the Call of Duty franchise from day one Xbox Game Pass release, which could leave fans unhappy.

someone forgot to tell microshart to make COD actually worth playing rather than just a gay expansion to warzone if they want to make that move, giving it on gamepass at least gave it some life, unless they are banking on the most braindead diehard cod fans you can see on plebbit.

Honestly if Project Helix is just an Xbox Series X as a graphics card, they could do worse....

Of course, if they want to WIN they need to partner with Steam asap and get it so the next Xbox is also a steam machine and they'd have a foothold back in.

As it is the damn thing is a glorified bluray player.

I never got how they thought gameass for actual "good" games on release was at all ever a good idea. Take the people who pay $70 day one and give them the game for $14.99 or some shit? Idiots.

Its not even a graphic card, its an app they use as a frontend that looks like the Xbox OS. Its all run by Windows11 in the background. You will not be able to use your disc based Xbox console games for this 'helix project'. If you bought the game digital for your Xbox console, you will most likely be streaming that console game, from their Xbox console they have in their server park aka the cloud. People that is calling the PC based Xbox hardware device a console, is the same people that claim gamepass games are free even when they pay for the gamepass.

I hate that I cannot tell if this is genuine or sarcasm. It's retarded but the exact type of thing that microsoft would think is a good idea

The original Xbox was using PC based hardware.

Its not a reach, a PC cant run Xbox console games.
There's nothing preventing Microsoft from using their existing backward compatibility layer. I guess they could just not use it and stream from the cloud instead, but that seems extremely retarded even for Microsoft.

The new Xbox console has a chance and realistically it's last chance because it's unlikely that Microsoft is going to want to lose so badly in the space twice in a row.

It's going to be an uphill battle because of the monumental bad job they've done for the last few years, but Nintendo and Sony have also been shitting the bed (although not as hard) - all it would take is a solid year or two of good actual PR, a solid console, and Christ forbid one or two good exclusives. Sony didn't exactly win the console war with PS5 and neither did Nintendo with Switch 2 (although they'll always have their own slice).

A mediocre Indian woman with 0 background in gaming is a pretty terrible Step #1, though.
Microdoft has been fucking up ever since the middle of the 7th gen, when they decided they should focus on motion controls and being a media center for people that don't play games. Now they've gone to the logical conclusion and alienated all their fans and stopped caring about the brands that made Xbox what it is. Halo and Gears are raped beyond belief and they have no real identity left.

They're fucking done man.

Microsoft most likely fucked up and made the emulator per-game. Each game has its own quirks, sure, even consoles with the predecessor literally built in like Wii and launch PS3 weren't fully backward compatible, but the list of games that can be played from the OG and 360 being about a quarter of the library between them, and especially having to deal with licensing issues, points to it being fucking worthless on anything other than the Xwhateverthefuck itself and needing to be built ground-up anyway.

So the rumours are true, but I wonder how Microsoft are going to fuck this up?
There's no way this thing will be anything but an Xbox-style Steam Machine, just with Xbox's interface at the forefront. I'm sure you'll be able to play your Steam games, technically, but it'll involve a whole hassle where you turn it on, scroll through your apps, select "Go to Windows", wait for Windows to launch, then move your little joystick mouse over to the Steam launcher and click it and then move your joystick mouse cursor over to Big Picture and then click that and then you can finally launch your game properly.

So it'll appeal mostly to people with Xbox libraries. Hopefully it'll have a Blu-ray player, but I'm not sure I'd put real money on that bet. Such a console will exist entirely to discourage them from giving up and going all in on Steam.

They're definitely going to want to keep users within the Xbox interface as much as possible and pointing them towards the Xbox store for new purchases. But I think the smart way of doing this is to actually tightly integrate the users existing Steam library into the Xbox interface by showing installed Steam games within the Xbox interface. This way they're minimising exposure to the Steam store.
