Which is kinda relevant because he said he sold the account when he was tight on money. Pre bankruptcy would’ve been the time that he needed money
Phil is also pretty famous for not going through the effort of selling anything, usually citing the same "muh family" excuse. The best example is probably his condo, which he needlessly paid thousands of dollars on every year, but even pre-bankruptcy, both dents/detractors suggested selling all the collectable crap he had laying around, but he'd say he couldn't because people would know it was him and troll him, even if he made a new account name etc.
It also makes little sense because if he's still playing the game and spending money on it, why sell his account? Presumably whatever money he got would ultimately get funneled back into the game. I can't recall any emergency streams post-bankruptcy where he was seemingly so desperate for money, he had to do a quicksale of his Champions account to stay afloat. Surely, if there was actually an emergency, he'd just do a major begathon. He's also been saying for at least the last year or two (probably further back) that he's never been happier and more successful than he is now. And if he's also trying to argue we were wrong about how much he whaled...then that means the account wouldn't have that much value, so it wouldn't sell for enough to get him out of his financial bind.
There's also the issue of the "new" account owner if Phil really sold it. If that dude was apparently trying to debunk claims that he was Phil, why didn't he? They wouldn't have to say they purchased the account, all they'd have to do is post a screenshot of them holding up the phone with their account. They could blur out most of their features and we'd still be able to tell if it was Phil or not, unless they were also cursed with having an oddly shaped head.
There's also the issue of login times, as other people have pointed out. Funny how this new account owner shares such a similar schedule with Phil.
Even if we pretend Phil did sell the account...I don't know how he thinks he looks better for it? Now he's just admitting to apparently having three accounts, while confirming that a heavily whaled account was his. At best, if we're extremely generous (which we aren't being) it means we have proof of him being a whale for years, and now we can't confirm whether the second account has been whaled, but it doesn't change the fact that he was lying about where his spending was going for years. Actually, this arguably makes him look worse because he was apparently so addicted to the game that his spending got to the point where he was at a make or break point where he had to sell his account to get by.
It's just such a bad lie, and much like with Derich, it's for the stupidest reason possible. He just doesn't want to give detractors a W. The majority of his dents have already said for years they don't care if Phil played Champions and it wouldn't impact whether or not they donated, and we've been (rightly) treating it as though it were Phil for even longer. Even in terms of not giving us the W, I'd argue Phil still looks pretty bad because he's already lied so much about it, and now he's continuing to poorly lie about it.
*Edit* Also, one other weird thing that isn't really here or there, but just odd to lie about. He says he tried to "backdoor" into the account using an old iPad. How would that work? Presumably, he was implying the iPad had the username/password saved for auto login, but why would that matter if he sold the account? Either the person changed the password, because obviously they would, and on the off chance they didn't, couldn't Phil just attempt his clever "backdoor" with any other device since it's basically just checking to see if the person changed the password or not?
