We've already surrendered so much privacy to corporations and the government that something like this would've been the way to go to fight this virus, far preferable to directly impacting people's daily lives and businesses. A lot fewer people would've been affected had the government developed plans like this years ago. Which if they're going to spy on us they damn well should have done something like that.
I don't know if they'll implement it in Australia or elsewhere, but it's going mostly ignored in SK. The young people just ignore the constant alerts. Even they're questioning the invasion of privacy over there.
But yeah, they already have access to it. Do it, faggots.
It's just really ridiculous, because I could understand if this were Ebola. Or TB. If it had a high mortality rate. It doesn't.
It was more the term "Home Detention" that I was surprised about. Well, not that surprised, just surprised it's actually what is getting bandied around more by media/political figures. In a rather smug way too. Like "Don't get your hopes up you'll be let out anytime soon" (Something ACTUALLY said at a briefing). It's being used as a threat and not a measure of protection, like it is the world over.
