True, but in this case, the whole scientific community is saying that it is necessary. In normal circumstances, that wouldn't be happening. You can't buy off every scientist in the world
That's a very sweeping statement to make for something that's factually untrue.
There are plenty of "scientists" who are against lockdowns - whether in full or in part. Case in point Sweden or South Korea.
There's "scientists" that are against lockdowns in part - they believe that schools should be in session, because the best way to achieve herd immunity is to have kids get it. They're the least at risk.
Not to mention the amount of "scientists" who won't say a single word because they're scared for their careers.
Look at how doctor's using HCQ have been treated. If you dare say it has positive results, you're persona non grata.
What you just said was akin to something Rhys McKinnon likes to say : THE SCIENCE IS CLEAR!
The science is not clear. To assert that the science is clear is obfuscation at best, politically motivated deception at worst.
Lock downs are the likely cause of more deaths in Italy, than not. Why? Because the infected were forced to be in their homes with the elderly.
7 People in the age bracket of 20-29 died in Italy. In Australia, that same age bracket is who is most infected with this and least likely to die.
You force those people to stay home with older family members, you get death. You let them go about their business, you also get death, but you don't kill your economy to do so.
As for Sweden's "high rate" atm. That's their plan. The death rate won't change in countries with lockdowns, it will just spread it over a period of time.
The whole "flatten the curve" was a fallacy in most places, pushed to sedate the country into accepting the harsh lockdowns. A "light at the end of the tunnel" approach, which was based on bullshit. As soon as the curve was flattened, the curve was then forgotten about. The curve talk all but disappeared. It then becomes "Curve? You're staying in lockdown forever, we're not taking any chances, get over it".
People who have taken the no lockdown approach like Sweden and South Korea will fair much better.
Firstly, they haven't lied to their people and manipulated them. Secondly, they haven't driven the country into poverty, making medical access difficult to obtain over a longer period of time. There's 7.8 billion people in the world.
There's 114,248 deaths to date from COVID-19. There's at the VERY least an 80% recovery rate. As we know, many more will have been infected and not shown symptoms.
When you take draconian measures like eternal lock downs, you have to be sure that what you're doing is justified and the benefits outweigh the negatives. I don't know how anyone can look at those numbers and say "THE SCIENCE IS CLEAR".
