Very true. No reptile is a truly domesticated animal. They can be tamed, sure, they can even come to enjoy being handled if it's done properly, but their instincts and behaviours are still very much those of a wild animal. That's part of why anyone who wants to keep reptiles needs to educate themselves and learn how to properly handle their animals, and even then, chances are at some point you will be bitten. My dead tame, cuddly-as-fuck carpet python nailed my hand when I fucked up, and even though she let go right away there was quite a bit of blood to clean up.
My precious Cocoa recently bit my eyelid in the middle of showing so much affection after going a year without biting. I've read from some people that apparently animals also get the urge to bite people and things they love, and because they're animals, they just go for it, but... Whatever - point is, yeah, reptiles aren't for everyone, especially not a re.tard on a Spaghetti-O's diet.

Honestly, I'm shocked the anaconda hasn't nailed him yet. Anacondas do not tend to have good tempers.
The animals seem so sickly I think they may not be able to fight back which is why many of them seem so docile towards him (except the corn snake, like someone needs to go rescue that lil guy because he has spunk) even after some of his videos show him handling his animals like an idiot

Good god this is horrifying. I love reptiles (especially beardies, blue tongues and tegus) and seeing them treated this way makes me feel sick. I could tell that little corn snake was going to strike before it happened every single time because snake body language is not hard to read. I worked with snakes and lizards that were in terrible conditions and even they had it better than these guys.
That one red tegu didn't even have claws! Tegu claws are one of their most distinctive features (at least to me). It was also so lifeless, it could barely put up a fight and very clearly did not want to be (improperly) held.

I'd love to own a beardie one day, but reptiles are a huge amount of work to keep well and I'd be worried I'm not up to the task. I also could not watch any of those live feeding videos. In the wild I understand predation, but it's bad for the reptiles to take on prey that can fight back and it's terribly cruel to the rats and mice, especially when the reptile hasn't been live feeding and has no idea how to kill quickly and efficiently.

Rats are my favourite animals in the world, and I cannot watch people gleefully murdering them via their poor reptiles.

This fucking kid and his family are terrible. Anyone who gets off on feeding live animals to reptiles deserves to be choked half to death by a boa so they can see what it's like to be slowly killed while you fight for your life. I know that's A-Loggy, but jesus christ, these are sentient beings.

Lots of animals get nippy with the things they're affectionate with. This is mostly due to them having A) the majority of their sensory input coming from their mouths (especially in the case of dogs and cats), and B) having much thicker skin than humans do. Apparently lions and other large cats do it to their trainers an awful lot, which is one of the main causes of accidental injury on the job. It's an unfortunate fact of life that you have to cope with, as anybody with a parrot will tell you.

I tend to steer clear of people who exclusively keep reptiles and keep a lot of reptiles because it seems that there are so many reptile keepers (also applies to tarantulas and really any group that specializes in one type of animal except hermit crab people are really chill for some reason) are super confrontational, elitists and will tear you a new asshole if you don't do something the way that person specifically does something.
Perhaps not on the level of cow-dom of people like Boaman because most of these reptile shit fits happen on forums and don't seem to go beyond a few posts but it's just a weird phenomenon I've noticed.
Also tarantula people will murder your family if you refer to tarantulas as their common name and not their scientific name. Sorry I can't learn 500 complex names in a dead language guys, calm the fuck down

I will admit that my husband and I used to live feed one of our ball pythons, but that was because she would not eat pre-killed. She had a bad respiratory infection when she was younger and stopped eating for several months, losing a LOT of weight. When she recovered, we had to get the weight back on her any way we could, which meant feeding her live. After she got nice and plump again, we worked very hard to get her back on pre-killed. I HATED feeding live, but it was the only way she would eat.

So sometimes live feeding is necessary, but it's rare, and it has to be done very, very carefully. If you want a real horror show, try looking up some of the injuries feeder mice and rats have done to snakes; a trapped mice or rat will fight back, and that can result in a dead or severely wounded snake. When we were live feeding our ball python, we never left her with the mouse unsupervised, and took the mouse out if she hadn't eaten it within five minutes. Boaman and his family are, of course, doing it completely wrong, and I'd be shocked if they haven't had to deal with injuries to their animals.

I also find it rather creepy when someone with a lot of small pets refers to them as their "collection".

It's the same with people who keep a lot of other animals, such as horses, cats or dogs. Excuse the powerlevel, but when I volunteered for one of our local SPCAs years and years ago, we had to pull a lot of animals from people like this, usually because they stuck with their incredibly wrong way of looking after the critters despite any attempts at advising them otherwise.
Some people really shouldn't be allowed to be in ownership of animals of any kind

Yeah it is a little weird when people have 100's of tarantulas and they're all like "You must see my collection" "I am adding this tarantula to my collection" like they're a super villain or some shit. (You can feasibly have that many tarantulas and have them all be cared for properly, tarantulas have few care requirements and they prefer to live in small spaces)
I suppose to me it's just seems strange to refer to animals you care for as such inanimate things because I am the type to get very attached to things

Oh, trust me - I know better than anyone what a rat bite can do. I have scars all over my hands from one of my rats and that was from accidental bites when he was playing. These scars are no joke. I've also seen a couple of snakes who lost eyes to rats. That's why I don't believe live feeding is the best thing for reptile or rodent. I do, however, understand that sometimes it is necessary and in those cases I always just pray the people involved know what they're doing for the sake of all the animals involved.

I've had a couple of snake bites and a goanna bite (had to remove mites from snakes and lizards who were terrified because they were almost never handled and poorly cared for, so naturally I got a few bites here and there) and honestly? Even compared to the goanna, the rat bites were worse in that they left highly visible scars.

I have to say, listening to him talk (and his dad laugh holy shit) kind of made my day...but it instantly tanked when I went through all of this thread.

Is there even anything that could be done if we did find his information? I'm also kind of worried about his absence from the internet simply for the sake of his animals.

He loggs into his account regularly, you can see his account is still active, but just does not do videos anymore.

Now there was another dumbass who went by Muffdaddy2 or Nick Ignacio who was a lot like this years ago. Ill let you see for yourself...

So, bowman has been making a shit of himself in some DC fan circles and someone uploaded one of his deleted vids, where he plays Arkham Knight and calls the enemies the names of people he does not like. This is Chris tier shit.

Well he is genuinely retarded, so this type of behavior isn't surprising. What's more surprising is he hasn't been killed by his own abused pets, but I guess they're too weak to do it.

Unfortunately my previous post here got lost in the server move.
Gist: As a herp enthusiast, his videos make me sad and I cannot watch them.
About 10 years ago, I lost all of my animals (15 pythons, 2 boas, 1 Savannah monitor) due to disease (kind of long, rage-inducing story of heartbreak and vengeance, but if you want to hear it, I’ll tell,) and after that, I stuck to 1 snake, who passed on a couple years ago and right now, I’m not financially in a place where I can keep reptiles again, but I’d do anything to be able to.

This kid makes me so sick. If he does get hots, he’s going to get bitten and upon hearing the news, my heart will grow three sizes that day.

This new stuff is ... I don’t even know. Part of me’s happy that he’s found a new “hobby” that doesn’t involve living creatures that are dependent on him for survival, but there’s the whole “he’s now going to neglect them even more because of vidya."

What's more surprising is he hasn't been killed by his own abused pets, but I guess they're too weak to do it.
That’s even more depressing. <optimistic> I sincerely hope that his animals aren’t at that point, even though they look like they are. </optimistic>

Yeah, kid is over his head. I'd like to hear the story but you should probably post it in off topic.

God this thread reminds me of the weird furry dude (or, "scalie" as it was called?) I heard about and had to deal with at some point from a poor soul I know that had to live with him temporarily.

Along with the walls overflowing with uh "dragon pinups" and copious amounts of dragon cloaca that was just everywhere in that place, I recall the thrilling saga he told my buddy and I of how he got in trouble with a furry website for trying to post a picture of the alligator supine with "its natural slit" showing, which he went sperging about how they shouldn't have deleted it because it was "just natural for an animal to have its genitalia on display" to which I could only think in horror that I'm pretty sure alligators are never on their backs unless they're in danger or in this case, molested.

The poor thing got "put down" because it was getting extremely aggressive after an incident where it swallowed a rubber band ball while unsupervised, and had to get traumatic abdominal surgery to remove it. And in this state, there is really not a good solution for getting that kind of animal into a reptile rescue.

But, point being of the story and power leveling, I am pretty certain he attempted to fuck that gator. And I didn't hang out there again after that.

JonahsVore seems about on that level or worse, I recall hearing about him somewhere on the internets or among my friends before.

Jesus.

I just wrote a wall of text about how I lost my reptile collection, so I’m kinda in “I HATE EVERYTHING” mode, but

This made me laugh, even though it probably wasn’t supposed to.
Hey, I have an overly formal and academic manner of speaking online which makes shit like that unintentionally hilarious, laugh all you want. Its rather spergy and funny in its own right.

And laugh more because I'm super likely to be stoned at any point while on this forum and still manage to type like that.

Anyway, that aside and back on topic, these "Scalies" seem to be a ... well, I don't want to call it gold mine, considering the horrible nature of what we're seeing here, but in any case they seem like a source of retarded herp owners.

If I can stomach it I will see what I can dig up.
