Every image makes me think of Into The Badlands. Which I enjoyed as a Prime Original yet somehow I do not think will go as well for an adaptation of an existing property.
I'd get more invested but I spent a lot of rage over The Watch. I'm stockpiling it for franchises I care about like the shit they plan to spew all over Tolkein's work rather than giving Wheel of Bloat my time.

Somebody on Twitter pointed out that it looks like Logain was captured by the Green Ajah, not the Red. Kerene Nagashi and Alanna Mosvani are in fact Green Ajah. Missed that completely. Thought it was a change to the text, but it is likely not. Turns out this is probably correct, since the Aes Sedai are described as "surrounded by warders" in Chapter 39 of EotW. And the Red Ajah takes no warders, as we all know.

Eh, enough WoT autism from me today.

Actually...didn't Cadsuane help Catch both Logain and Taim?

To give them the benefit of the doubt, the text might not be fairly describing the scene as we do see two Reds following. Cadsuane did assist in the capture but didn't go along because she's too stuffed up busy for that shit.
I dunno, best or worst case scenario we get a show in the same quality as the old Xena or Hercules, good or bad depending on how much liberty they take with the dialogue and how seriously they take it.

so where are the Greens’ wardens? I know not all Aes Sedai have one, but that’s giving me bad vibes.

Edit to add: Hold on, isn’t it the greens that bind more then one warden?!

Here’s 6 seconds of Lan (Korean & small Lan.)

You know nothing...Jon Snow. LMAO. Well, Bezos did say he wanted something to be "Amazon's Game of Thrones." 🤷‍♂️

BTW, where the heck is Lan physically described, one way or the other, in the books? He's a big guy who spends a great deal of time glowering, I get that, but as to being white or Asian or anything else? I've never read the graphic novels, but I'd be curious to see how he looks in them. Jordan was alive when they came out, and I'm pretty sure Jordan had veto power over everything about them.

Here's (I think) Gawyn, Elayne, Mat, Rand, Loial, Perrin, Egwene, Nynaeve, Moiraine, and Lan.
Lan here kind of reminds me of pictures of Cossacks I've seen as much as anything else. Not "sign me up now for Stormfront" material, but also not the kind of thing that wins you brownie points on Tumblr.
Overall, though...So many (too many?) WiPiPo.

Says 2013, but I thought they were published in the early 2000s somehow. Plus most of the reviews on Amazon are bitching about how the GNs are unreadable on a mobile device. Making me think they were published before tablets were a thing.

The iPad was released in 2010 and didn’t hit its stride until a few years later, so you’re probably right that in 2013 most people would’ve been attempting to read on their phones.

Discussion of race is a deep rabbit hole when it comes to WoT, but then that's a problem with translating any book to film since everyone who reads it has their own interpretation of what is actually presented, which is why I feel it's okay to have some leeway so long as they don't go absolutely full retard. The most to be hoped for in this is for clear distinction and consistency with different factions or happenings to make it readable(pun not intended) and not episodic guesswork for fans.
If they go the Lord of the Rings route from book to film in eliminating extraneous events(anything involving Elayne's pregnancy because fuck her) it would be okay because, for example, even though we all enjoy Tom Bombadil, things can sometimes be too much.

Race isn’t that complicated in WoT, a lot of you’re overthinking it. It’s almost like I’m on some Twitter whining hug-box thread. Many of you sound like a lot of fun.

Lan is described as large & stone faced, with dark hair & tawny skin. Go find a page ref yourself or whatnot. He is described as very native American looking.

So what if most WoT characters are white, presumed white, or even Jordan approved as white? Oh no l, evil white, clutch your pearls. That’s not too unheard of for sci-fi, especially in a 30 year old IP that outlived it’s creator before being finished. Speaking of Jordan, who happened to be a Mormon polygamist American & loved writing 100 page descriptions about dresses, & weird social dynamics between men & women. Yeah, he writes only a few blacks, forsaken Semirhage & the majority of Seanchan, esp Royalty like Tuon. It’s not that unusual, difficult, etc, & the Amazon adaptation will be woke. Again, not currently unusual. I’ll still attempt to watch at some point, before reviewing & have no problem saying they’ve done shitty, sjw casting, in a pathetic attempt to dark wash. Jordan gave many interviews describing the characters he wrote of, & in a book, part of the beauty is not being spoon-fed every thing, reading inferences, & picturing it yourself. No two people will have the exact same mental picture, but the guiding details were a clear enough roadmap to connect these varying imaginings.

Apparently there is some leaked trollok footage floating around, haven’t come across it, only that small, asian Lan clip. His voice was ok, decent actor, not a good physical build for Lan unless he’s secretly jacked, plus too short, Lan’s close to Rand’s height. Though asian is close in typical phenotype traits to native americans.

We’ll see I guess. Predicting crappy pacing, more crappy casting revealed, very average show. Hope I’m wrong.

Maybe we should change it up then. How's sounding like an autistic faggot working out for you?

It isn't complicated at all when you consider the text, the original book covers, the graphic novels, the fan art that sourced all the former - it's when you encounter the woke crowd that everyone shies away from source material and you then have to give up hopes of accurate casting.
As soon as Perrin's actor was revealed I knew they threw caution to the wind and realized they weren't marketing it towards readers but impatient progressives that can't read.

It has the looks of a Sam Raimi production at this point, but will it have the soul?

I could live with certain casting decisions if things were kept consistent and respect paid to the source material.

But they're destroying it.

A Native American with blue eyes? I'd say this could be an oversight on Jordan's part, since he apparently does stuff like have Mat say he has a different number of siblings at various points, but Jordan uses the blue eyes language multiple times not only to describe Lan, but to describe Slayer, who reminds Perrin over and over again how much he looks like Lan. I'll circle back with exact citations if anyone gives a crap (let me know), but the sheer of volume of text vomit Jordan produces will make finding it a tad of project, even using Kindle's text search. Just finished The Shadow Rising and am about halfway through Fires of Heaven, and I know I read the blue eyes thing recently, it is in one of those books if somebody else wants to go looking.

Moving on/avoiding the curse of double-posting... (Why does this matter anyways?)

Anyhoo, I've read through this twice, and it still doesn't rise above the level of incoherent gibberish to me. I guess they're trying to say it isn't okay for women to drive men to suicide, but that it would be less okay if men drove women to suicide, or some such thing? Something like that? The homo ex-mormon running the show continues to annoy me, at any rate.

How The Wheel of Time's Flipped-Script Gender Roles Affect the Plot
The Wheel of Time boss Rafe Judkins explains how the societal power of women in the series affects the characters, and not always in positive ways.

One aspect of The Wheel of Time that sets it apart from other epic fantasy stories is the social and political power that women often have by default. However, as showrunner Rafe Judkins noted, this reversal of the stereotypical gender struggle may bring troubles of its own.

Judkins discussed the implications of the way the show flips the gender role script in an interview with EW, specifically addressing the fate of Logain, who was seen in a still image caged and guarded by Aes Sedai. "Just as men are often trying to shut down female power in our world," Judkins explained, "the Aes Sedai are trying to stop this man from becoming too powerful."

Wheel Of Time's Main Characters Will Be Older Than Their Book Counterparts

Logain, portrayed by Álvaro Morte, is known as a False Dragon after using his inborn magical ability to incite followers who believe he is a long-awaited and feared savior. Although the attempt brought him much of his notoriety, in the world of The Wheel of Time it's bad enough that he's a man who can channel the One Power. Because of a catastrophe in distant history, the male half of the Power was corrupted, and the Aes Sedai are intent on hunting down any male channelers and nullifying them before they cause any damage.

Some Aes Sedai may view Logain with sympathy and acknowledge that men aren't responsible for being born with the ability to channel, but on the whole, such men are feared and shamed. This becomes a personal matter for some of the series' main characters, as Moiraine has singled them out for their own potential to channel -- an exciting prospect for the women, but not so much for the men. As Judkins explained, "If, hypothetically, one of our male characters were able to use the One Power, they understand the stakes of it from what they see of Logain."

The Wheel Of Time Is A Story Of Balance For Our Divided World, Says Showrunner

Logain's imprisonment is perhaps an extreme example of the dangers of being a man in The Wheel of Time, but it's easy to see how characters both male and female -- not to mention viewers -- may have their suspicions about the intentions of the mysterious, all-female, extremely powerful Aes Sedai.

Amazon's The Wheel of Time is based on the fantasy book series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. The show does not yet have an exact release date, although it was announced that the premiere will air in November.

So wait season one is only 6 episodes? This is going to be horribly compressed
take this with salt but

8 Episodes, covering Book 1 and..at least part of Book 2. Enjoy the pacing being faster than Sonic The Hedgehog high on Crack with A Rocket Shoved up his ass.

I'll bet they toss in bits of the prequel New Spring as well, since Moiraine is clearly the main character in all the promotion.

And I think the 6 vs 8 episodes issue came up because the last two episodes don't have titles yet.

New Spring being a soft intro would be an idea. Still not sure how long each episode is, but there's just so much to tell in such little time.
