Speaking of gay Mormons, turns out that's exactly what the showrunner of WoT (Rafe Judkins) is. He only tells us this something like three times in the 17 minutes of his interview. He also announced somewhere in there that one of the chief writers of the series (paraphrased) "doesn't like Fantasy, she doesn't read Fantasy, and that helped keep us all real." No timestamp, since he's the first interview. Praises the diversity of the "global" casting.

Still mystifies me how the serious fans of this series -- people who have read through the books multiple times and have YouTube channels dedicated to WoT -- can barely cover their collective erections at the train wreck this is clearly shaping up to be. There was a livestream that I guess is now privated I wanted to post here, if I find it I'll come back with a link. Daniel Greene was one of the panelists, Jesus Christ on rollerskates was it a cringefest.
Finally, revealing that this is the image was posted on Twitter by the official
Wheel of Time Twitter yesterday...

Not Rand al'Thor, not the Emond's Field Five, Burger King Kid's Club Edition, not even Moiraine with Lan. Moiraine by herself, brave powerful woman who don't need no man. FWIW, this isn't how I pictured the Waygates, either, but that is probably an error on my part.
I'm guessing we'll get some good f/x (still not sure how they will show Channeling), some tolerable CGI Trollocs, Fades, Drakkar, etc., coupled with a mess of a story, a skinsuit version of the WoT plot.
Full disclosure: Just about done with Book 3/The Dragon Reborn on my re-read. Still very impressed with Jordan's worldbuilding, the action scenes are actually better than I remember, find the characters a mixed bag, and the nuts and bolts prose as silly as ever.
Ah, well. Glad I have this space to scream into the void, as it were. I'd probably get banned for posting these sentiments on Reddit.
