HE will still live at 14BC, he will have a social worker that will check on him weekly, he will get discounted utilities and EBT and medicare and waste money on games and other bullshit.
You have to request those things. Chris isn't going to bother with a social worker.
He'll probably be ok because he already basically lives on his own and if anything is the one taking care of Barb and not the other way around? Like does anyone seriously think that Barb manages any of Chris's day-to-day affairs for him at this point? What could she possibly do for him that he can't do for himself, besides stick her nose in stupid stuff like the Game Place incident and make things worse than they already were?
This. Chris runs 14BC but doesn't realize it.

He will most likely have some sort of emotional breakdown, but other than that he should be ok. Barb provides moral support for Chris, that's really all she can do at this point.

Or if Chris wants china from a prostitute again, he'll have a place to take her besides a motel room. She'll probably get turned off by his toys, leave, then he'll crap himself

speaking of signs i wonder if he has that PRIVATE PROPERTY NO TRESPASSING sign on his front lawn near the driveway

Kiwis will set up a donation fund in order to send Chris some Crayola Fucking Model Magic, so he can at least mold Barb a coffin for free.

Christine will clear out the hoard and turn the entirety of 14BC into a Sonichu shrine. Floor to ceiling Lego in every room, creating false walls and secret passages in hope that if a potential sweetheart enters she may never find her way out.

In all likelihood, I think that adult protective services will be made aware of the situation soon afterwards. What that ends up doing, it's not really possible to say. Chris might *just* have the faculties to take care of the day to day business of life, but he does not have the emotional capacity to take care of himself. If you think he's retreated into fantasy land now, just wait. Hopefully help will find Chris before he completely implodes.

You'd think that if the state considered Chris a severely mentally handicapped individual who needs continuous supervisio they wouldn't judge him as an adult nor let him have a driver's license.

They don't.

Chris' autism is a disability only as far as his ability to work is concerned. He's not a window licker or anything like that. It'd take more serious legal action to have his rights taken away.

They don't.
I know, I know; that's what I meant.

As far as the law is concerned Chris is a responsible adult man who can purchase and own land, drive a car, go to jail, marry (...yeah), and do pretty much anything else who just happens to have a monthly :tugboat:.

Except that's clearly not the case. He's got an ego, and he's kind of an idiot, but he's self-sufficient when he isn't openly committing crimes, and his crime wasn't even that far beyond normal stupid-ass redneck shit.

Well, and what I'm saying is that I don't disagree with their position on that. Legally taking away someone autonomy is not something that should be taken lightly. Chris is weird, but not enough of that weirdness crosses over into "not legally competent" territory.

Legally they can't really force him into anything.

Exactly. I've dealt with something similar to this recently. If Chris consents to help, it will open some doors for him. And my guess is that after a little while roughing it on his own, he won't say no. Or maybe he'll die a big fat fabulous homeless woman. We'll see.

Maybe not, but it presumes how adamantly someone is offering. It's one thing for him to give in and say yes to a question, it's another when the situation requires him to go out and ask the question on his own.

Chris is already pretty heavily under the microscope. One visit by adult services that determines to their satisfaction that he is unfit, and the wheels will slowly start moving. More likely it will happen when (not if) he is arrested after his mom dies. With all the Rockys, trolls, white knights and Watermelons out there, someone will alert agencies to his situation. I'm not saying that it will work right away, or even remotely effectively. Virginia has proved to be terrible in every way except firefighting. But Chris is enough of a train wreck that he will almost certainly bring something on himself.
