So according to this xitter user called animation on HBO Max; through information available through tubi's browser source code, the warner shows now available on tubi will be leaving on April 1st and all the other shows not released yet will potentially leave on September 1st, so my likely guess is that tubi is going to put their long library of shows on there a couple at a time per month and putting different ones on there till September 1st

There are three but people do the retarded gen X thing with it where they pretend season 3 doesn't exist because it makes the fact that they are seriously invested in a TV show for 10 year olds even more retarded than it already is.

No, there's sincerely only two seasons. Forty episodes in total. Unless you count shorts or specials as a separate season for whatever reason. Please don't spread misinformation.

I've said in the steam machine thread that despite all the promise he made with it. Gabe Newell is not your hero, he isn't santa claus, and at the end of day doesn't care about you as anything more than a customer and a source of income.



The same principle can apply to tubi and their "promise " of fixing what HBO max did with their cartoon distribution. The distribution of all these shows for free is only a temporary fix.

As a reminder for animation twitter, who owns tubi? Fox owns tubi, who owns fox and their affiliated brands? The walt disney company does, so technically tubi is owned by disney, just like Pluto tv is owned by Paramount Skydance.

I don't think Bojack Horseman is a good show but when it hits, it fucking hit. I like explorations of one of the worst places in America, I feel like Bojack needed better writers to thrive. The way it got cancelled too soon and ended on a lame note doesn't help. But there's moments of greatness here beyond the outdated 2010s millennial humor and the misery porn.

I know there's some better adult animated shows that capture emotions and flawed characters properly like Moral Orel but I think Bojack had moments that really do deserve praise too. It's easy to make fun of Hollywood but it's all really fucked up in the entertainment industry, and there's worse tales than Bojack that happen all the time. I think the intention was capturing the disillusionment of this part of American culture. It was tropey but that was a lot of the point. A washed up celebrity with endless scandals, chasing the glory he likely won't ever experience again. It wasn't executed the way it should have been and the show definitely went off the rails but there's a lot of bits that do live up to the hype it had, when the characters finally shut the fuck up or when more emotional sequences happen anyway.

I wish more serious touchy adult shows were made and explore these concepts but I may as well read a Fyodor Dostoevsky novel instead.

I know plenty of people who are like this, and you see plenty of them online nowadays. Always needing to prove themselves narcissistically. A lot of lolcows are like it too. It's on the nose and definitely melodramatic, but genuinely does capture what I guess people with huge egos are like. Lot of leftists too.

My issue is that the show spends so much time on the quirky Whedon comedy, Millenialogue, and Simpsons esque B-plots that by the time a scene like that happens it feels totally unearned and doesn't register for me because at that point the characters are just obnoxious. Their problems are tedious. Their (totally self inflicted) misery is comical.

Hell, even that clip you posted does this exact thing: Bojack has a serious moment of introspection and raw emotional vulnerability where he levels a very pointed and weighty cry for help against someone that he respects, and then some ugly fatass with an obnoxious voice stands up and kneecaps the entire scene by reiterating one of the series' longest running jokes.

It works for that scene because that's all he is to anyone despite him trying to find a new life or be a "better" person. He can't escape his legacy.

I still say that the execution is abysmal and not at all helped by the fact that it came out right at the height of Whedon writing and so just comes across less as an intentional dig at Bojack's ego and mental state as a statement and more as a cheap MCU style attempt at humor.

Character destruction and deconstruction without resolution in narratives are very controversial, combine it with poor writing and mishandled direction and you have Bojack. Some speckles of greatness washed away in shit and like you say, drowned out by that shitty era of writing. I still like what it was going for by simply showing a piece of shit without the glamour that Hollywood displays. Beyond that glamour and the spectacle, it's a miserable and hollow existence. It's one of the only shows that can show a party and be pretty depressing. And in the later parts of the show when it decided to be really good it gives us a really good dementia episode. It should have been consistently better, and it inspires me to come up with a better script about fucked up people.

No one wants to see a loser, you could argue a rich loser is even less relatable which sparks another easy criticism against the show. But it's an interesting position if it's written well, someone who's at the top of the world or once was becoming a hollow nobody and an alcoholic that progressively tosses their life away. There's better ways to make that interesting than what the show ended up doing.

Anyways fuck Bojack horseman have a real adult animated show.
