Are you talking about barbell pads or the safety squat bar? I use the SSB because of an old shoulder injury.
I'm talking about the foam and plastic molded pads you stick onto a barbell. How did you fuck up your shoulder? Was it unrelated to weightlifting? At least for me, every time I've gotten an injury it had nothing to do with weights.

Nothing to do with weightlifting. Destroyed my rotator cuff horsing around as a kid. Eventually led to what my doctor called an "unstable shoulder" which means it dislocated if you looked at it wrong. Had surgery years ago and it's mostly fixed but it really hurts if I get it back enough to hold the bar on a normal barbell squat.

Had this pop up on my recommendations as well, it was an excellent video.
It very effectively dismantles Mike’s dissertation, demonstrates why he shouldn’t have gotten the title, and ties it all together nicely by showing how much he relies on his PHD in place of actual substantive arguments.

I can’t wait for the histrionic little midgets response. It’s almost certainly going to be more ad hominems and appeals to authority (e.g. you’re not a doctor, so you have room to critique) rather than actually defending his garbage dissertation.

Unsurprising.

Meatcube-man can hardly do a pull up. His grocery haul video where he bought a ton of overpriced, processed, packaged trash made it obvious why he's obese. Like a teenager who can't cook. Yet he wants to speak authoritatively to me about anything. Peak "imagine roiding for this". Unaesthetic, unhealthy and psychologically frail. He's a failure in his own field. Sports medicine isn't very rigorous field to begin with. Just big correlation statistics shrug-a-thon. All conclusions will be thrown out a few years later when it turns out no one can replicate it, assuming there was any experimentation in the first place.

The guy is a nutjob, I'm pretty sure he believes in the church of AI. I think Mike is definitely deserving of his own thread at this point.

Being susceptible to AI psychosis (which is what he's describing) is an indicator of NPC status. I’m doubtful this will be the end of Mike. By all rights it should be, but the appeal of “science based lifting” to “optimize” your gains is too great for most normalfags. Especially those who don’t have the knowledge base to understand why exercise science is extremely limited in its usefulness, and isn’t comparable to something like Physics. And as long as that market exists, Mike will probably have a decent audience barring an as of yet unprecedented crash out.

I do think his star wanes in the realm of serious lifters though. You can only take someone who looks like shit, has no IFBB pro card, and hasn’t coached anyone with on either seriously for so long. His awful dissertation and his reliance on it is just the icing on the cake.

Edit: actually, has Mike coached anyone of note? I tried looking into it and Google says he’s coached Olympians, but I can’t find any names. And all I can find is him being essentially a staff nutritionist, and not the actual coach of any of them.
 
I don't know why some gyms keep the air conditioning so low. It just promotes injuries
It also promotes chick's nipples poking through their sport bras, which I'm fully behind. I always wore a hoodie when I used to go to the gym so I barely noticed the cold. Now that I have a home gym set up I work out in my pajamas. It'd be a lot nicer if I didn't have so many lingering injuries forcing me to take breaks.

Speaking of I'm trying something new this month, based a little bit on Joe Rogan's "Sober October" (I feel like a fag just typing that). I saw a video recently talking about Rogan's workout routine and I was going to try it out, but I had to modify it a bit because I'm not in that good of shape even without injuries and I only have one kettlebell. Basically it's just going to be a full body circuit with a kettlebell followed by a few dumbbell exercises I'm going to try and do every day. I haven't decided yet if I want to go all in with the sober part and quit weed for the month but I want to at least try to get into a habit of training every day, lose some weight, and get my body back together to return to regular weight training. My goal is to lose at least 10lbs, but I'd like to be closer to 20. We'll see how it goes.
 
Foggy autumn weather is the most aesthetic time to do calisthenics at the park. Beats sweating under the sun.

I've been losing a bit of weight to get closer to where I'd like and that has mostly been going pretty well. But this also coincides with a period where I'd laid off the weights for a while. The moment I picked up my barbell, my body just went "FUEL please!"

I'm actually thinking of putting off starting proper weight training until I reach ideal weight and then starting from there. But... weight training is good for offsetting any muscle loss due to diet. Currently trying to find a good balance. I need a bit of a conditioning period before doing any serious training anyway, but even so.

Eat tons of meat. Protein heavy will cool it down. Chicken is your friend. Otherwise you're going to start grazing the most unhealthy shit. Your appetite will calm down.

Track your calories in vs what you are burning. You might be in a bit of a plateaux now if your goal is weight loss but in the long run it will help.

The most exposure Israetel has gotten was discussing his steroid usage with the other YouTube Dr. Mike. He's annoying but he's vocal about his PED usage.
