If controlling someone with as little harm as possible is your worry, try BJJ. It’s more than just chokes and locks, you actually need to really really control someone before you get to that point and you can just hold them down if need be. I’ve literally tripped a dude and held his wrists from mount until security showed up to solve the problem, and shock and awe I didn’t get bit or eye gouged.Bit off topic but do you or anyone have martial arts recs for physically controlling/restraining someone who's trying to hurt you, without hurting them? Wrangling a retard, for instance.
I've heard that wrestling is the best martial art for not getting arrested, but I don't know how you get into that as an adult. I've also been eyeing BJJ for a long time. Is there anything else I'm unaware of?
I would go for BJJ over wrestling, obviously both are good but in my opinion BJJ gives you more options on the ground. And in reality, takedowns against untrained retards are easier than people make them out to be, you just need to get comfortable with them. And if you do go to a BJJ gym you’ll find some wrestlers happy to show you a thing or two, it’s really gotten huge as a sport lately so a lot of wrestlers transition over to BJJ.
