might sound super autistic, but:

has anyone done selftests like microdosing aspirin over a long amount of time?

or anything else, that benefited you surprisingly positive? especially in health/ workout terms
I've been microdosing 350/200/400 T/Tren-A/EQ for the 8th week now, not sure, could be placebo, but I think it's helping my workouts. :)

Ingesting aspirin daily has various benefits and just as many drawbacks- it's not some secret CEO immortality biohack though, I wouldn't do it unless you have a very good reason to.

Do not take this as a recommendation, do your own research, but this is what I personally have been taking for a while as my generalist stack, and not just intermittently: a standard multi, some extra vitamin D, taurine, carnitine, ubiquinol, creatine. That's it.

Good multis are absolutely essential. If you're not a medieval serf working the fields (or in certain seasons/certain parts of the world) you're likely vitamin D deficient without any supplementation so I'd throw in some of that as well on top of the multivitamins just in case, better to be safe than sorry.
Taurine likely is one of those things that mostly only has net positives going for it in terms of health implications, very cheap if money's a factor.
Creatine has been discussed fairly often here as well I think, it's a well proven compound with clear benefits, super cheap also.
Ubiquinol is excellent for cardiovascular health.
Carnitine is one I'd only recommend with a few caveats. It has REALLY bad oral bioavailability, meaning you'd have to ingest a lot of it, way more than what is recommended on most labels in order for it to realistically do anything. Another issue stemming from this is that when ingested orally it is apparently carcinogenic- not the compound itself, but a side product that becomes of it if you take it through the mouth. I'd only ever take carnitine in the form of pins, when injected the potentially cancer causing step is skipped completely if you have needle phobia I'd probably just not do this one.

There obviously is a lot of other stuff out there that may or may not work or may align more with your needs, these are just the stuff I personally found adequate reason to use.

So I just received my power cage w/ cable crossover from Temu.com Got it at a super low price, the picture shows it to be Mikolo branded. Then I realized there is an Err Kang model that looks exactly the same as the Mikolo.. what I received was a 'Firesmen' branded power cage that looked exactly the same as the aforementioned Err Kang and Mikolo brands off of Amazon. Whats funny is I cant find any trace of a fitness company called Firesmen lol. Must be some chinese international shit sold elsewhere. Got it all set up and happy to use it though.

Im ready to finally convert to the garage gym life, but I think I will slightly miss the social aspect of a proper gym. Anybody who converted to a home gym regret it or end up going back?

Been a bit since I posted here but I managed to get a new bench max of 245lbs this week. Hoping for 250lbs by the end of the year

Absolutely not in the slightest. I miss the good rowers at the gym and pool.

Mrs basso uses it and keeps her self thin and happy but she likes the social aspect and does Zumba and yoga at gym still.

I need to re setup my gym in garage because everything is tucked away as I got my car lift installed.

Just putting shit back will count as a few work outs lol.

Having a gym here has been great esp during coof, it's good my friends can lift whenever help people learn etc. But most importantly I can flex on people who don't have that lol.

Edit I dunno why double posted and didn't merge.

Sorry.

Yeah but only because I fucked my whole life up and lost everything. I've found that I get more done at a proper gym instead of getting comfortable and fucking around or getting distracted. It's definitely the better financial decision but you have to be strict with yourself.
I work out almost entirely at home because I hate going to the gym. Been doing it for 30+ years and manage to keep up a consistent 5-7 day/week schedule of calisthenics, free weights, stretching, and walking or running.

A long time ago after reading a few articles, I started keeping an exercise journal and I've found that this is the single most important tool for maintaining discipline and consistency.

I can go back through my logs and see trends: energy highs vs fatigue, weekly/monthly/yearly patterns, seasonal adjustments, and growth/loss clearly over time. More importantly, if I skip days it puts a hole in my log and that makes me itchy and uncomfortable so I'm motivated to stay on it.

Recently I have been getting more serious about lifting. I'm up to 4-5 times a week, taking rest days as needed.
I started doing creatine at 5 grams and taking a regular protein shake for the first time in my life.
Also, I started training for hypertrophy, going 1-2 reps from failure and focusing on lifts that give my muscles a deep stretch during a rep, hitting both the small and large muscles in any given group. I've seen results doing this, my lifts are increasing every week.
I picked up this book, it has been very helpful:

I recommend it for everyone who lifts. It has detailed break downs of every single lift. It's helped me a lot to hit muscle groups I would have otherwise ignored.

This is the best thread on kiwifarms! I picked this book up and it's fantastic - if you are a pro lifter you likely know most of the stuff, but for me it's invaluable. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yes just because the variety of equipment at the gym feels good to use and its nice to see people. Biking/running to and from the gym is also great when it is warm out. The home gym was a lifesaver when covid shut down all the gyms and even when they did open you had to wear a mask which absolutely killed workouts.

I will probably end up setting up my home gym again in winter because it is nice not to have to go out into the cold and to be able to lift whenever without having to fit it into a schedule. I think I was at my absolute strongest when I was only using the home gym because of the ability to take 5-10 minute long breaks in between sets, so there are pros and cons.

I wanted to get some bumper plates, but I don't think these old wood floors will like that. I don't have stone/concrete floors to drop them on.

Also, apparently there's drama going on between Coach Greg and Doctor Mike about the latter's self destructive body building goals. Do we have a fitness cows thread somewhere?

How serious is a torn ligament in your elbow or shoulder?
Depends.

Is it the elbow or the shoulder? How badly is it torn? Have you seen someone specialising in sports medicine? Have you had any diagnostics done? Sometimes (often) surgery is inevitable beyond the usual rehabilitation, especially if you aren't content with losing range of motion due to scar tissue from healing naturally.

Possibly both.

Oddly enough, I can still do rather demanding calisthenics, but it's when it's at rest or performing less-strenuous, fluid motions that it's in pain.

Diagnostics are done but incomplete due to lack of synchronization of med info across clinics.

Honestly, I'm somewhat scared.

If I was you I would not be doing calisthenics until you get conclusive instructions from an actual medical professional on how to proceed, I'd even try and avoid hard physical labor as much as possible.

Don't be scared though. Not sure where you're at, but as long as you can afford proper surgery (if it's needed) you'll live through it and will be back to being able to train in no time. If you're lucky enough it'll heal on its own.

Oh I get it. You just want all the gains for yourself! But seriously, I am super bummed our that I have to take it easy and even take a break altogether for a bit.
