Still enjoy his videos but I do wish he'd ease off on the shitpost titles and thumbnails. The ones where he used interesting shots of in game content or concept art like his Morrowind videos always had more appeal for me. Kinda wonder if he did those because he has more respect for Morrowind.

What a surprise, I've recently finished another failed playthrough of Dungeon Rats.

The game's just too hard for me, I can't wrap my head around the combat and after like 5 playthroughs, I really don't want to.
No I refuse to lower the difficulty, I'll just remain a shitter who hasn't completed the game.

These thumbsnails are getting worse and worse.

Good video. Having a combat expansion pack is always an interesting design choice, but I wonder how much the game is fun and how much is just reloading until going fuck it with the result, especially as the entire game, including the final battle (which is admittedly skippable), is unwinnable if you used too many resources.

There is definitely that aspect since getting crit felt like a death sentence; either you take too much damage or you get a permenant stat decrease, or in the case of black powder bombs you've just gotten knocked down on the ground meaning you've lost a turn, all of your block/dodge stats and are about to have a steel enema; but people have unbelievably not only finished the game solo, but also ironman.(According to some codex users, someone did both as well).

It's definitely an acquired taste but I will say Age of Decadence felt a lot easier. for a while I enjoyed the game and difficulty but then the constructs/worms were introduced.

This video skims over a lot, like, a lot lmao. He skips so many good characters it is unbelievable, and the usual tourists who consume this sort of content will be unaware of them. I'm biased as fuck here so I think this video is one of his worst yet in terms of quality and summary since it builds up the DND universe but does not use the more mysterious word-of-mouth way its mechanics are set up in-game which makes it a lot less intriguing, your imagination of the in-game instances of lore from characters will always be more vivid and memorable than the DND lore book itself since its woven with the characters personal experiences and beliefs. The usage of the concept art is pretty neat with the background but I guess his content is speeding through mostly RPG games people will never play which is gay. The parts skipped may just be little things but thats what made the game a hit. I don't know what I was expecting but this is the first time I have actually been pretty disappointed in his work. Now I wonder just how much he's skipped on mods and games I haven't played but watched a vid of his on seeing as he pretty much left out everything interesting, notable and tragic about Dak'kon's backstory in his speedrun wiki summary.

I kinda like the shitpost thumbnails personally
I don't usually mind them but I'm autistic about shit like this, neither the thumbnail or title actually tell you what the video is about. Compare it to the shitpost thumbnail/title of his last FO2 video

Its memey but I can understand at a glance that its a video about FO2 and the subtitle has actual relevence too as its the style of run he's doing.

It's already nearly 90 minutes long. Kinda ridiculous blaming him on speedrunning the game by not doing everything (especially as he himself seems to avoid using guides to 100% games he plays).

Plus I wouldn't call it a hit. Planescape might be the biggest case of "best game I'll never play" in gaming.

I cheated.

And I regret nothing. I've reached the final fight solo on hard (the normal difficulty going off Age of Decadence's normal calcs) before with a knifefighter, but it is genuinely almost impossible to do this shit ironman because it is pure RNG.

Age of Decadence is more well balanced.
Dungeon Rats is completely geared towards combat, so the end result is having maxed out defensive stats and still getting hit because your enemies have maxed attack stats with a weapon.

After watching some of his reviews on classic Russian Fallout mods like Sonora, I really wish these games would be remade in 3d/modern fallout esque and the mods as well, either by a company (unlikely as Todd has ruled out remaking them and I don't think Microsoft would let them outsource like with Obsidian) or as a mod. Turn based isometric especially from the 90s, unfortunately is such a major turn off. The games could be remade with a Mount and Blade style map with the same special encounters. I don't understand why it hasn't been done considering how dedicated a lot of the Fallout modding community can be, they have most of the writing and characters work done for them.

It won't happen because:
* The oldfags who work on those modes are too stubborn to upgrade things visually, as they see the system itself as perfect.
* The people who never played the originals don't care.

Okay, you know what? I had my criticism over the thumbnails, but this one is okay
What the hell is this even about, a sequel to his Fallout Yesterday video? I know that the dev of that shitty mod blamed negative attention on his initial video, so is this an apology video or a second look with more criticism?
Sort of criticism, sort off "Hey, heres some suggestions to maks your mod not suck" and snippy talks at Howard

Watching it now, looks like it will be another pseudo-video essay like with Fallout 1 video. Looking forward to Van Buren lore talk, I can never get enough of that.
I love it when he uses Dungeon Cleaner/Planet Alcatraz music randomly. If you remember, that's the /pol/ shitpost game from Goblin(or was it Gremlin?) where you have racial stereotypes as main factions and end up going against literal nazis that use Power Armor by the end game. The track he likes using comes from the African village, which looks about what you would expect from it(fun fact: the game starts with two of these black gentlemen from that village threatening to give you their BBC and turning you into their woman, shortly before attacking you. You play as a male).

Oh ye, I actually own both copies of that game on steam (and physical copy of the 2nd game), I was actually surprised he even used the soundtrack from that game. Specially how buttmad he usually is at Goblin

I've seen this just now, and so do you

Thanks, I never want to see it again.
Speaking of cursed things, I am drawing a blank: Is the Chris Chan thumbnail an original creation, or did Chris actually draw Fallout Super Mutants in the Sonichu comics? Obviously this isn't part of the classic Sonichu saga, but maybe this came about in the Idea Guy saga or sometime afterwards and I've forgotten.
