However, I don't really think this was a significant factor to consider even back in the early ages of gaming, and even less so now, since most people that are playing a historical war game are already going to be interested in history. Sure, in the past, there were less options, so people were naturally funneled into the Total war series, but in 2023, the games market is so vast, I've seen people say they've literally only played FPS games since they first started playing games. People who are playing historical war sims are going to already be interested in history, that might not have been true in the past, but now it's the rule, with some exception and edge cases, and even then, those not interested just want to make armies kill each other.
