I vaguely remember seeing this guy post something along the lines of "wonder why warhammer fanboys keep mentioning me randomly, guess it's because they're in denial". Yeah, totally nothing to do with the fact that all the videos that all do meaningful numbers (let's be real here, anything less than 10k views is babyshit at this point in youtube's rapidly degenerating lifespan. ) are you bitching about a game based on a over the top fantasy tabletop game not playing like games based on historical eras, so you've been shitting them out in order to maintain relevancy.

Seems like an exercise in insanity to me but if anyone had the delusion and ego to think they could “enlighten” a whole board using “facts and logic” it would be Conor.
Perhaps something funny will come of it.

Yeah, he's had threads about him on an off almost since the start of the board, and the consensus was usually along the lines of "if he got an editor to cut down the spergery, he'd be an okay channel". Then he started participating in them.
 
There's so many issues with Total Warhammer games that Game Feel is probably the last thing I'd complain about tbh. I love TWW and am hype to finally have my Ogre Boys full time but there's a lot of fixing those games need and my Handgunners not doing a reload animation is at the bottom of the list of shit I want changed.

Also making a petition for a game you allegedly don't like is lame and smacks of the old "We won't play Modern Warfare 2 unless we get dedicated Servers" shit no one actually supported.
 
Super new to this, apologies if i'm doing something incorrectly. Was on his discord and noticed him arguing with several different people but this particular incident stood out to me as it was very silly.

Context is that 'Cao Cao' in the screenshots was arguing that the following video was objectively wrong in its claim that "you have to hover over the units to see the unit cards to see the ammo level" as you could see the ammo in a bar hovering above the unit. (As a side note, you can see the ammo in the colour coded bow icon on the card itself as well). Volound decided to attack the argument in what is possibly the most dishonest arguments i've ever seen. Below is the initial responses to the argument:

The argument continued a lot longer than this, with Volound often moving goal posts and refusing to accept Cao Cao's concessions. It ended when Cao Cao used the word 'cope' which set Volound off on a tirade about 4chan users. At a later date, when the same user criticized one of his videos he banned him using the argument as a scapegoat. Below are the final messages of the exchange:

Hope this was done correctly and provides a little more insight on Volound.
 
Why does Volound find it so hard to understand that the tone and mechanics of a fantasy universe where exploding mushrooms, magic, ratmen, and a Undead Pharaoh and a Barbarian Cultist can duel each other for chariot supremacy are going to be different from the historic games? He acts like the Ogre LL having a funny death animation is somehow proof CA is rotten to the core.

Can't remember the exact video, but he literally posted a LOTR clip in a earlier vid and demanded the next fantasy game to prove it's worth and be exactly like what was showcased, or according to him, it would be a waste, despite, Y'know, simulating shit like that would likely nuke most computers even if they managed to sim half of that, but hey, fuck anyone who isn't a "trailblazing gameplay purist that's not happy unless [they're] breaking new ground - deep-diving untapped possibility spaces."

Yeah, I don't think he'd do it, but there's basically no guarantee he didn't fuck around with the stats so they would have miserable performance, maybe if he was willing to take a hit to his precious youtube metrics to actually showcase the problem and not randomly splice in movies to make the other games look worse (did that in his latest video too lol) I wouldn't have problem trusting him. It's just so obvious this is his cash cow, bitching about something popular.

This is the catch with Volound. He can make really dishonest arguments, he is fairly dumb and petty, yet he did have a strong core of criticism that was parroted by Total War Youtubers likely even before he came onto the scene. The fact is, cavalry charges are pretty pathetic on the warscape engine. There's a lack of real physics is the reason why. Though every three total wars they technically are using a new engine, certain features you had for Rome 1 and Medieval 2 have never been reimplemented (not even in Volound's favourite total war: Shogun 2).

I get why you'd distrust him seeing as he's definitely not above dishonest or even completely falsified arguments, but in this case it's not fraud. The few Total War critics there have ever been have already made note of this particular aspect and it's by no means a revelation. Below is an example from eight years ago criticizing the same issue:

After what might have been the most aggressive and rapid flurry of responses I have seen since the early days of Facebook, I got banned after stating that they all seemed quite frustrated about something.

I remember him being a champ at playing total war shogun with his challenge battles. Had lots of potential back then. Such a shame to see how he is now
 
Guys the Leadbelchers have reload animations. This doesn't bode well for the no reload animations argument the purists have. What will they complain about now?
 
I mean, Volund is generally not wrong in his critiques against TW:W

The game is a buggy mess, with a lot of unsatisfying mechanics and an over emphasis on single entities and characters that makes the 5th edition tabletop version pale in comparasion.

He just makes these points in an impressively long winded, redundant and autistic way.
 
I feel like a lot of Volounds complaints about the game don't really take into account game balance, or at the very least, this one doesn't, at least to an extent

Queen Bess is not that hard to get very early on, at least in most of my games unless I REALLY cock up in the early game. Most wall breaking spells in the base game are from tech trees which take time to get to, sometimes even longer because tech trees have other shit you wanna get to first, slowly leveling up mages, or special magical items that are devalued by the fact that they compete with other items that offer better campaign power, better battle power for fights not in sieges, etc. Add onto the fact Queen bess is also meant to be anti-infantry and the unit he's comparing it to is mid/lategame, which kinda makes the comparison more and more stupid the more you think about it, at least in my opinion.

EDIT: Wait, nevermind, a "trailblazing whateverthefuck" pointed this out.

Melkor makes a better point that Volund himself highlights, and imo is much more to the point lol, but i think that making it a poll is kinda pointless since theres a high chance most of the audience would agree with making an unbiased group or some shit (voted just to show the overall %)

I think that if TW partner youtubers did try to go with an autismo union it wouldnt be too effective since they would all probably be excommunicated, but then again its just a vidya and anyone who is not retarded can just choose to not follow shills and actually show restraint when investing their shekels in a video game, but thats just me

I can't entirely disagree with that, what I didn't get is why someone would dedicate their entire online persona to complaining about a game they neither like or play.

I mean, we've all been disappointed by a game we've purchased before, I know I have.
Unlike Conor though, the rest of us usually just make a quick post to vent our disappointment, get a refund if we can and then move on with our lives, we don't dedicate an entire online community and hours of our time and passion to fucking moaning about how terrible something is.

But with Conor, I sort of get it.
Imagine, you suck ass at everything else in the world, you're shit with women, your grating personality repulses other people and you have the charisma of a brick. There's just two things your good at: spinning stones into the ocean really fast and playing a particular video game.
But you're not just good at this video game, you're amazing at it. Like one of the best in the entire world. People actually show an interest in you for the first time ever because they want to see how you got so good.
So you ride your 15 minutes of fame championing this game for a year or so and then, all of a sudden, the new updated version gets released and its been streamlined and simplified to be more accessible for the more casual gamer and suddenly you aren't the best at it anymore, in fact, everyone else is just as good as you are.
He probably realised that he has nothing going for him now and his channel is basically worthless, without being quasi-famous for being good at TW he's just a nobody playing video games in a dark room until 4am like all the other 30+ year old neckbeards still living with their parents and it broke him a little.

Honestly, if he wasn't such a cunt I'd feel sorry for him.
