If Vinny's smart, he'll stay far, FAR the fuck away from streaming more Cloudpunk anytime soon. With how much Current Year bullshit that game's rancid dialogue spews out it really will be the chat killer that they collectively joked about every other time he streamed it.
Welp, not only did he stream it today, he decided to give his little speech about the current world situation before starting the game. I guess he knew that he needed to put his foot down and talk about it like a big boy, sooner or later.

What did he even say? I missed the opening.

It was primarily focused on donating to help businesses that got destroyed during the riots, although he did bring up George Floyd atleast once.
Then he asked if it was okay to just focus on vidya now.
About as tactful as he could put it I suppose. To the chat's credit the majority also seem to want to just focus on literally anything else during the stream since even mainstream gaming news isn't allowing for escapism atm.

Honestly, I thought he nailed it. And thankful he asked the chat to donate to the businesses that were destroyed and looted. More proof that Vin is one of the best streamers out there.

I wonder when (if ever) Joel will drop the vinesauce name. personally I think he would eventually be better off if he did. I cant help but to see Joel as the Luigi of vinesauce sometimes.

vinesauce is hope is now variety is hope, and to be honest rev is the only one that plays up the affiliation putting #vinesauce in his stream titles, seems a bit much, especially since he doesn't even show up when you search twitch, just joel and vin and some parodies:

Vinesauce have always been Joel and Vinny, with occasional Rev. All other streamers are too obscure, and rarely ever get mentioned, despite still being a part of team. Most subscribed Vinesauce-related YouTube channel is Joel's, most viewed Vinesauce highlight is Joel's, by far Vinny is only leading at Twitch follower count. If he splits, Vinesauce would lose at least half of its charm. And knowing him, I really doubt he he would split even if he wanted to, he's too generous for that, maybe feeling like he's obliged to be a part of team. And it's not particulary hard to, since streamers rarely interact with each other, I can't even remember a single Vinny & Joel co-op stream since 2012 or something,
Though I think Fecalfunny is unironically a good name for some kind of streaming group, whcih might be used in hypothetical event of splitting.

This is completely untrue. Originally, the "Vinesauce" name encapsulated EVERYONE that streamed for their site - that means Vinny, Joel, Rev, KY, Bran, Imakuni, Jen, Fred, Hootey, and FearGingers. Vinny was the one who actually used the name "Vinesauce" for his personal channel, but the name also represented them as a legitimate streaming group that played games together often. You only have to scroll down for about a minute on Joel's Youtube channel to see how many crossovers they did back in the day, and that's not even close to all of them. On top of that, it was never just the "popular members" that did crossovers together - in fact, most of Joel's crossover streams were with Rev, Bran, and Fred, and most of Vinny's were (and honestly, still are) with Imakuni.

You're right that the other streamers are rarely mentioned nowadays, but that wasn't the case before - they talked about and to one another on stream quite often. It was only when Vinny took off in the mainstream (I want to say around 2015) that the name became sort of an artifact title. The major move to Twitch from VinesauceVidya played a big part in that, since Twitch didn't really have a setup to accommodate streaming groups when it first got big (and, to my understanding, it's still not that good). Without Chatango and the permanent Vinesauce forums holding the community together, it dispersed, thus leading to the divisions between each streamer that we see now.

I can't even remember a single Vinny & Joel co-op stream since 2012 or something,

They played Smash Ultimate together quite a few times last year. We discussed it in this very thread.

I'm not a big rock person and I'm still not super into Red Vox, but their two newest singles from their next album are bangers. (and free on bandcamp)

Ozymandias is on par with the better parts of Another Light, which was my favorite of their albums so far. Just hope that the singles aren't the best songs off the album like they were with Another Light. The rest isn't bad and I'll still listen to it through, but In The Garden is still the best track to me.

As for streams, the Mario's Mystery Meat stream got edited down in record time. Still recommend the full stream, but this has the best moments and some deep cut meme explanations. The fact that a meme hack is this technically impressive still amazes me.

I mostly agree with you except for that last part. I think that name is stupid as hell and it reminds me of shitty meme sites like ifunny or 9gag.

But anyway, the biggest reason that the other streamers didn't take off as well as Vinny or Joel is because they weren't "memey" enough. This can be said for a majority, if not, all previous and current members of Vinesauce: of course they didn't always play games that were the big thing at the moment to keep things fresh, were actually fairly skilled at what they were playing and knew a bit about it, played games for the fun of it instead of just views and money, and had a bit of personality to top it all off even if they had a dry sense of humor, but the ones that made it a point to be loud and/or eccentric and/or even outrageous to the point of being endlessly repeated ad nauseam by viewers were the ones that were remembered the most and the ones that drew in the most people. This is what helped bring Vinesauce into the popularity that it has now and is unfortunately is the biggest sin to those that dislike and even hate Vinesauce, and is ultimately the reason that they draw in younger kids and crazy freaks into a large portion of their viewerbase.

At least that's the way I see it.

I wish I could give you an award for composing the longest run-on sentence ever written.

That said, I slightly agree with you. I'd argue that Vinny was never really that loud/eccentric/outrageous, even in his younger days when he had more energy - he's always had a dry sense of humor and a quick wit, but I think where he shined was with corruptions and with more niche games. Rev too has always been a more laid back streamer, and tends to be the "straight man" in general, except in very rare cases (such as Dick Swirly, where he manages to be so off the wall that JOEL ends up being the straight man). Joel fits the description you just listed pretty well, though.

As for the other streamers, I think some of them were actually quite funny but dropped out for other reasons. KY and Bran were probably on par with Rev's style of humor, but the two of them stopped streaming for personal reasons and because of some behind the scenes issues between streamers, respectively. But you are right that none of the other streamers ever reached that peak comedy point that Joel and Vinny did, at least not on their own - some of them, particularly Fred, are pretty good at playing off the other streamers for good comedy, but can't really hold the audience on their own.

Out of the two singles, Ozymandias stands out as more unique and easier to listen to than WCTBE imo. Why Can't This Be Easy feels like Vin tried a little too hard to emulate the current Tame Impala dancey-electronic synth sounds and I think his vocals could have been better in some parts, but I do like it (just not as much as Ozymandias). By any chance, did Vinny say anything new about the upcoming Red Vox album/single yet? I know he mentioned that he had news about it during a recent art segment but I don't have time to watch last night's VOD.

In regards to streamer popularity on Vinesauce, the streamers that have made a name for themselves with a decent following have a schtick to some degree. Vinny has his corruptions, Joel has his Windows Destructions (and now Meme House), Rev had shitty flash games/Homestuck/social justice tweets, KY was an indie game enthusiast (most notable Spelunky), Hootey speed runs LttP and has a genuinely great personalty + big heart, Imakuni loves Sonic and Jet Set Radio, and everyone else... is just kinda there. Not one time have I seen in either chatango, twitch or discord seen someone say, "YOOOO Fred's streaming WoW right now pogChamp" or "Personally I find Darren's streams to be a LOT more entertaining than Joels"-- and the streams have been going on for 10 years now. It's nice that some streamers are low-key like Limes, Dire and Fred, but there really isn't much going on for them all. Most of their viewers are either randoms or people that've been around since the early days; which even then is seldom in its own right.

I always wonder if some of the more low-key streamers hold some sort of resentment towards Vin/Joel/Rev for getting free steam keys, attending cool events, getting lots of attention etc. or if they prefer to stray away from that amount of success. Granted, Vinesauce as a whole isn't as massively known as Super Best Friends Play or Game Grumps, but they definitely have stans in the audience and a good chunk of people that want them completely ruined.

Super Best Friends Play

Jesus Christ, I haven’t heard that name in years. Do they still do anything, even?
Vinesauce might not be known by name to too many people that don’t spend all day on the Internet, but it’s many people still might know the big memes (i.e. le epic Grand Dad 7) or have watched a stream without knowing who they were (how I got into them, at least.)

One thing I love about the vinesauce gang is how, on rare occasions thier memes supersede them or they revive/expose a meme, and if I see the meme I can say "haha funni swedish man

The group disbanded in December 2018. I think nowadays they just mostly stick to their Twitch channels. Matt is making a name for himself with his "What Happened?" series. I can't say I've been keeping up with the rest of the group, though. Pat and Woolie still do the podcast shtick, though I heard in recent times that it's not that entertaining.

What I was basically trying to say was what echteekay said just after you. Name how many memes and quotes can you remember from Vinny or Joel, and name at least one from, say, Jen or direboar. The difference is incredible. And yeah, Vinny was always pretty chill, and that could also be said to many of the streamers. But what makes Vinny stand out from the rest of the group is what happens in his streams. Vinny's stream highlights are unlike any other streamers, especially when he first started out. They were hilarious, unpredictable, and even witty at times. This is why many people came to watch Vinesauce in the first place. Those same people might check out some of the other streamers in Vinesauce under the assumption that they would get that same experience that they had with ether Vinny or Joel, but would most likely be disappointed in their slower pace and lack of golden moments. Even when Vinny plays a toned down game with no promise of any good highlights, there will still be a bigger crowd of people watching his stream then a smaller streamer playing the same game simply because of the impression left from his better streams.

And yeah, sometimes I feel like writing an essay when I try to explain my thoughts and it doesn't come out as I had hoped. 😅 Sorry about that.
