Yup, we don't have Nosferatu or Malkavian. My optimism is fading with every announcement.

I mean. Ventrue was a just a 'duh' given. They practically were the architects of the Camarilla and their history is rather expansive. NuWW might wanna paint them as 'ew rich white menz old boys club' for woke points (see the obnoxious Lore of Clans interview with an Anarch Ventrue) but it doesn't take away from the fact that Ventrue are the nobility of Kindred and they're damn good at it. And frankly if you find Ventrue wringing hands cartoon evil or gasp, boring, then you've written or played them incorrectly.

I still don't have any hopes for this game though.

Plus Mitsoda came out saying you have to be careful handling mental illness with Malkavians, so they likely don't want to piss off their hugbox... as for Nosferatu, their hugbox looks like them so they likely don't want to remind them either.

I agree. And Malks in v5 are pointless. They took away Dementation and just put it as a dominate power (the one dot dementation passion) and they feel like they've lost all sense of what their purpose was. Malks are seers and priests and madmen. They might not make sense but looking at it from another angle, they are frighteningly perceptive. That's the charm of Malks. And granted, they have an issue of FishMalk but that's no more obnoxious than Brujah 'I do everything against authority because REBELLION!" stupidity. Which v5 made even WORSE.

Just curious here cause I'm hearing the same typical white knight shit about Paradox's decision to take full control of the Vampire interests from White Wolf due to them putting in that part in one of the Vampire books about Chechen gaybashing being the straw that broke the camels back but was White Wolf's staff that bad all things considered? The little I remember from the actual books was that they were nice enough to put a forward in there saying "look this is all make believe and 99.999% of our playerbase knows this but we're stating it regardless".

Damn I guess I was wrong. Watch the dialogue be incredibly watered down so they don't risk offending anyone.

Probably. Considering Hellblade was screeched at for "downplaying" the "lived experiences" of people with actual mental health issues, even though they got a professor of psychiatry in to go over paranoid schizophrenia with them and based Senua upon actual tales from people actually diagnosed with it, they'll probably make the Malks all Quirky and Nice and Troubled in a sympathetic way, rather than the howlers at the moon and lunatics in charge of the asylum that they were meant to be. Also, in earlier editions their tradition of pranks were usually the sort of pranks that ended up with people dying or being traumatised for (un)life.

Like, a well done Malk in VTM could be a character who believed that he was the only real person in the universe, and everyone else was some sort of pawn or object of study, and thus can be used, exploited, or otherwise thrown away at will. His discovery of ghouls and ghouling could only reinforce his delusion because if they were real, he couldn't control them so easily, no? He might collect people for his menagerie or human zoo, trying to find out why they aren't real and he is. He might also think that as a Malk, and being unwittingly connected into the Cobweb and hearing voices, this is further evidence that only he is real because others don't have access to this body of information or knowledge.

Ventrue are the true chads of VtM. If you ever want to roleplay away your miserable life as a vampire god and have gotten sick of playing the uwu so special anarchs but don't want to be the faggy Hollywood type of chad, the Ventrue have got your back. They're the consistent clan with consistent and actually useful in day to day life powers, and they get the fun as fuck boardroom drama but with vampires. Which is exactly why they're going to be written as problematic in VtMB2 and you're probably going to be an upstart even if you play as one.

Oh absolutely yes.

Isn't the Ventrue clan drawback that you can only feed on specific types of blood, for instance, in VTMB1 you couldn't eat rats and if you attempted to nom a tramp or a whore you had a chance of spewing it all back up and your blood meter falling to near zero? I bet you any money there'll be a Ventrue bad guy who's a lawyer by trade or suchlike and his specific blood type that he requires is black trans sex workers and he's serially murdering them and getting away with it because the powers that be don't want to know because they're all WAYCIST.

Or you get someone who’s insane, but in that insanity gets insight into the more esoteric bits of the situation that everyone else doesn’t even if they cannot express that correctly due to being bugfuck crazy; like how Malk protags in Bloodlines 1 know exactly who the Taxi Driver is and shitting themselves in terror over it.

That’s their most glaring weakness, yes. Also, I can’t be arsed to look, but is 2 being set in new or old WoD?

Yeah, if you fed on rats or prostitutes there was a chance you would barf it all back up. Pretty much the most weaksauce of weaknesses. It did make the big sewer section to find the Nosferatu a pain in the ass if you didn't know about the door that took you to the street level, but the rest of the game had all the tramps in the bars that you could consistently feed on, as well as Heather. Still, considering that the best parts of VtMB involved dialogue, Ventrue was one of the coolest clans to pick if you wanted to just be the normal type of charismatic.

So what are the confirmed clans? Brujah, Ventrue, Malkavians, Toreador and Tremere? That's not the end of the world, I doubt too many people are crying over Gangrel being left out. But still, Nosferatu being gone sucks. Worse than that, this fucking focus on thin bloods and their gay ass OP powers. No one likes thin bloods, and more importantly no one wants to play as the bastards. They're setting fluff. People prefer sperging over generations, that's why you had all those theories that the protagonist of VtMB1 was generation 8 and shit. I honestly would have preferred if they dropped this thin blood shit and made Lasombra and Tzimisce playable.

Interviewed with Brian Mitsoda about Malkavian.

From the interview, they researched on people with mental illness from medical papers and other works of fiction. So this time, they won't portray Malkavian's insight as hilarious but more a darker and tragedy tone. Since insight is connected with network of voices, they are seen more as paranoia. I guess, Malkvaian player this time won't be as insane like the first game due to political correctness. Even from youtube video description, they say Malkavian are being looked down on by other clans.

Hopefully the character models don't look as horrific in game. Thankfully we're actually getting gameplay at e3.

Yeah, that White Wolf died a long time ago.

Now it's just the woke-meisters at Onyx Path and the equally untalented hacks that Paradox hired when they bought White Wolf out.

The White Wolf that was dissolved by Paradox is not the same White Wolf from the 90's that we all knew and loved.

At first this game seemed sketchy but I'm starting to think that maybe the knee jerking from people at the start was unwarranted. This game might end up okay

Someone tried to get me back into VTM play again a few months ago (I haven't played since the mid-late 90's). I read through the new rulebooks and was just, "yeah this really just sounds like Tumblr the rpg now, no thanks."

Where this game has went isn't really assuaging that opinion.
