Uh oh. Wokeness is infiltrating this already. The whole "you can choose your pronouns" was the thin end of the wedge. I will therefore have to think carefully before I buy this.

I also smell microtransactions. The advantage of being a thin blood and thus discipline inceptor is you can flog discipline or clan or bloodline packs later as DLC.

Malkavians not being completely crazy would completely negate the point of being a Malkavian. They're supposed to be loonies, hearing voices, seemingly speaking gibberish and having strange behavioural patterns. That's the appeal of the clan, the famous "fishmalk" is named after it because you could roleplay as "lolrandum xd" and have it make sense in-universe, because Malkavians do not make sense in general, and is a Godsend for people who like to play as "Chaotic Neutral". Some Malks are so insane, they cannot function in Kindred society at all, and are locked up to protect the Masquerade.

At the same time, Malkav was believed to be clairvoyant, and their seemingly inane speech often hides wisdom that nobody but them understands. In VtMB, playing as Malkavian changes your dialogue options completely, to the point that the player can sometimes misunderstand what any given dialogue option is supposed to mean (which can be frustrating, especially to first-time players, but if you know the dialogue there shouldn't be much trouble). Instead of using names of in-game characters, player character will call them something different, usually with some sort of hidden meaning, and as you play the game, things your character says make much more sense in retrospect. One of the Malks you encounter very early predicts the entire plot of the game in rather vague terms, if you encourage them sufficiently enough. You can have them do fourth wall breaking and not break the player's suspension of disbelief. There are so many angles to this particular strain of the Curse, making it some boring Jared Leto's Joker quirky "gamers rise up" clan would make it boring to the point of tears, even more boring than something like Brujah (no offense to Brujah enthusiasts, I personally just don't like brawly strength type characters as much).

In VtMB, Malks are so exceptional (not r-tarded exceptional, although some can be) that a hefty chunk of NPC dialogue is changed just to comment on it, because they can barely undestand you. One other clan I can think of that has that many dialogue changes is Nosferatu, but even then it's almost exclusively humans. There are lots of additions that make the game feel somewhat different. Things Malks do that other clans don't include: talking to inanimate objects; hearing ominous whispers, such as "They're coming"; seeing strange objects and creatures. These are all small things, but they really add to the atmosphere.

I couldn't replicate this talking rat, so I think I'M going insane now. I'm pretty sure it appears in Hollywood sewers at some point, so maybe you can try it.

TL;DR - Making Malks into boring quirky gang weed Joker types will completely kill the depth and massive opportunities their insanity provides to play around with the tropes and make otherwise impossible jokes/add a weird angle to the plot and turn them into dull non-characters.

Also, turning Malks almost exclusively into weirdo trannies will further concrete the theory that all trannies are insane, eccentric and delusional, so we'll expect some funky articles from the usual suspects.
The clan weakness also specifically states that all malks have a mental illness, so I suppose tranny malks fit right in.

This is going to be total SJW shit. The writer wrote Dishonored 2 and was hired on the basis of fanfic. They were also responsible for getting Hotline Miami 2 banned in Australia.

Most Malks were either one of two types: 1) Had something so insignificant to power play 2) Were 'wacky'. They were barely ever played correctly which is why they were banned most of the time. They really didn't follow mental illness, but were completely driven insane from hearing the voices of the world. They were dark characters who were capricious but never played to that extent.

I have little hope for this game. The West has been shitting the bed.

Plus the developers came out and said they were going to be political about this game. Something about the technological boom and why it's bad or good. I dunno, the guy sounded like Boogie when they were talking about giving both sides a look so it came off insincere to me. Especially since they're apparently based in Seattle... rarely anything good comes from or because of Seattle.

EDIT: Wait maybe they aren't, but the guy explaining why they're talking politics lived in Seattle for most of his life.

They did make Blacklight Retribution according to their website, looks like a free-to-play FPS that got shut down on PC due to low player retention. Take that as you will.

Blacklight was steaming garbage.

You got experience for matches, which you could use as a form of currency to buy weapons and upgrades for said weapons, but they had a timer on them, so you'd buy a new receiver with XP, but it would only be usuable for 72 hours or something.

OR.

You could pay cash, and get those upgrades and weapons, permanently.

source on the hotline miami situation? i never heard of that story before
She made a big stink about a rape scene - even fictional in universe of the game - in a PC Gamer article and the games ratings board of Australia caught whiff then banned it.

I'm torn on the political angle because Vampire was always political to a certain extent. But the way they're describing it sounds fucking idiotic. The thing is there is already a massive amount of pre-orders from nostalgia alone, so they've already got their money. God fucking damn it, when will the gaming community learn? I swear to fuck this community is dumb as dogshit.

As a bit of an aside, this is something TotalBiscuit kept saying all the time - stop pre-ordering. Wait until people can play the game and give you an opinion on whether it's worth buying or not. You might be buying into a scam, and will never see this game ever again or, at least, get your money's worth (cough No Man's Sky cough Mighty No. 9 cough). No matter what you thought of TotalBiscuit, he was pro-consumer and tried to change something. If not the developers, then at least the community. He might've been a bit of an asshole and got somewhat deep into SJW ideology in his last years, I still think he was one of the better people in the community. I miss him sometimes. :'(

People are retarded and will always pre-order. The bullshit chart of different fomo tactics is enough proof of that.

If you bought No Man's Sky and played it today you'd get your money's worth. The problem was it was an early beta early access game marketed as a AAA release. Hello Games may be run by Peter Molynuex-tier flimflam artists but they did eventually make it a decent game even though running with the money would have been easier.

Pre-ordering a few days before release is fine if you intend to play it on release. You can save a few dollars on Amazon Prime that way. But pre-ordering years in advance over a pre-rendered trailer is exceptional and people who still do it in 2019 deserve to be fleeced for it.

With NMS, people bought into the hype of the game where "you can do anything" and "universes are dynamically generated". It took (twelve) years to make, it has to be good! When it came out, it was nothing like advertised, and people started review-bombing it. It took Hello Games around 2-3 years to turn NMS into a game it was supposed to be upon release, and it probably would've been longer if it wasn't for the reaction it got. Just look at Alex Mahan, he's been developing his turd of a game for, what, 5 years now? And there are still people (usually under 15) who believe that we'll see it be released, and it'll be totally great you guys, even though it hasn't left "debugging" stage ever since. Just because a game "might be good in some unforeseeable future" doesn't suddenly make a dogshit game not dogshit, because that future might never even come. Especially with small first-time devs.

I can't understand why devs are so serious about all the SJW agenda. Because, you know.
This is the world of darkness. Adding PC and stuff like that will kill the main idea of the setting.

With NMS it was obvious from a quick glance it had nothing to do and a slightly more detailed glance showed the devs were making obviously false claims. We said this was gonna be shit long before it released, it's not like the writing wasn't on the wall from the beginning.

We were dismissed as haters. Just like when we said "That which sleeps is never fucking coming out you morons, it's a scam" they called us haters. There are still people on that kickstarter sure the game is totally just about to drop if people would just stop pestering the dev for refunds.

Star Citizer is another one. Obviously wild claims, sensible people immediately say "Hah, no, you're full of shit" and the loyal cult yells about FUD.

It's so weird, people are desperate to run interference for companies that are screwing them. Just for the feeling of being "right".

I have zero faith this will be any good. The literal last time I saw a game dev use the phrase "punching up" was that racist currynigger who worked on Mass Effect Andromeda.

This does not bode well.

I still can't understand why people preorder, why can't you just buy the game the day it comes out? Or a couple days before so you can pre load or wtv.
Exactly. It's a digital download, it's not like there's even token swag involved like there is with some physical releases and there's certainly no scarcity of product.

Tbh I bought NMS in spite of the critical reception it got and was banking on them one day developing it into the game I actually imagined it could be. So far they seem to be chugging along to that end, thier next update will bring expanded social features and VR which in a world where VR remakes are often sold to you at a premium is pretty cool at least. Doesn't really make up for Sean pulling a Molyneaux though....

star citizen is on a different level altogether, its followers could probably fill a thread in community watch with their autism.
Right?! I'll admit I bought that on future speculation much like the above. The people who follow that project are insane. To this day they continue to milk thier community with new ship concepts even though the project is long since funded. And they just eat it up! Every so often you even find a cutesy "Dev appreciation thread" by some busy-body community want-in tool. Absolutely cow status.

pronouns? whatever

identity politics? don't care
