I would imagine the 20th anniversary editions of all their old World of Darkness titles helps, too.
The only reason anyone knows about "Vampire the masquerade" nowadays is because of Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. It's partially due to how little White Wolf attempted to branch out from just a tabletop rpg setting. Like had they made significantly more video games than just 2 they probably wouldn't have needed to be bought by two separate companies.

Maybe amongst people who don't play tabletop games. Besides, D&D put out plenty of video games in the 80s and 90s, but that didn't stop TSR from being bought by Wizards of the Coast, which in turn were acquired by Hasbro.

YOU DIRTY DIRTY MOTHERFUCKERS.

FUCK YOU. WHY IS THERE ALWAYS A FUCKING CHART. THIS ISN'T A SCIENCE EXPERIMENT MOTHERFUCKERS.

Oh my god, this is going to be such a shitshow. This game is going to be terrible. Look at all that 'Nostalgia' for cosmetics. Sorry Kiwis, but this already looks like shit.

I wish CDPR wasn't busy with Cyberpunk. I feel fairly confident they could make a proper sequel to Bloodlines.

So there’s some preorder and special edition cosmetic weapons and outfits that reference the original game. And on top of that, they’re planning on adding more content to the game (likely focusing on werewolves judging by the name) as a DLC expansion pack - and you’re actually mad that is a thing?
it's moreso how there's a chart of preorder dlc.

Also this is predicted to be the tip of the iceberg considering how much dlc Paradox puts out for their games post release.

Oh, gee. I wonder if it's due to the fact that they have this all planned out a year in advance of the actual release of the fucking thing? Not to mention there's three fucking different editions of a game that isn't even so much as close to its release date. I would feel mad too personally.

I mean, does this sequel have anyone at all from Troika attached to it? I'm worried it's going to have a lot of insane social-justice overtones to it judging by the way the new IP holders of World of Darkness have been acting over the past year and that it's going to be developed by fat reject Tumblrinas; storyboarded and written by Brianna Wu, featuring voice acting from Zoe Quinn and Anita Sarkeesian.

It must suck to be a fan of this game, always having that feeling in the back of your head that your precious sequel is gonna be shit.

Not really, knowing CDPR they would probably toss shit several times out the window when their head devs suddenly has another moment off "Guys! Scrap what we did! I want -insert mechanic here- added to the game!". Plus it would come out buggy to the point it would be practically unplayble.

I'm more convinced this will end up badly considering this thing is on the dev team:

Never a good sign when a walking Tumblr stereotype is on your team.
Problem glasses: check.
Robin Thicke haircut circa that cringey shit he did with Miley Cyrus: Check.

That "I need to speak to your manager" look on her face: check.

Let's just hope she's on the art team and stays far the fuck away from the writing. Any time she wants to sit in on a story meeting someone should just say, "omg there's some chick uncomfortable with a troon in the ladies room" and wait for her to run off to check someone's privilege.

I want to add a small footnote here that Hardsuit Labs co-developed Killing Floor 2 prior to VtMB, along with Tripwire Interactive, and made some games on their own (which I cannot judge, because I have never played any of them). KF2 is a very fine game in its own right, so Hardsuit Labs probably do not have too much sway when it comes to the plot and some such. My personal guess is that they're probably helping with coding, modelling, animating, etc., and not the main things like story and gameplay mechanics, and are innocent in this, and those parts most likely lie on Paradox/White Wolf/whoever is the main developer of the game's shoulders.

But then again, KF2 didn't have too much in terms of story and its core mechanics were determined many years ago in both the original standalone game and UT mod, so take this with a grain of salt. Just something a bit :optimistic: to ease the whole thing.

Eh, not that surprised about the nostalgia pandering. Honestly, Im just gonna watch how this game developes, I know this will sound optimistic, but with devs having stuff agains em I'll honestly will be impressed if they can pull a 180 degree turn an deliver something good.

I wouldnt agree on it being a power fantasy, buuuut...when one plays Bloodlines it does become a problem when all female characters are dressed in skimpy outfits and the male vamps all wear suits or shirts. Like aside from one of the twin sisters, you never see a female vamp who wears a suit. So, I can see how someone would think this is a masculine power fantasy.

Gee I wonder why a predator species which use seduction as a way of drawing prey would dress in a way which makes it really easy to be alone with prey?

"Why yes I'd love to go somewhere alone with you."

As a side note quite a few Female Vampires in the origional game dressed normally quite a few of the male vampires dressed eccentrically. Suits where actually pretty thin on the ground.

Here's a clan by clan comparison of the pc

She might not have worn a suit, but Damsel didn't have her tits out either. I adored this game, but there definitely could have been some more female-on-male seduction options for some (attractive) non-hostile NPCs (sorry, Chunk).
I'm all for making the next installment more equal, but not by shaming the previous game as if it was somehow any worse than the other games of the era. If anything, it was fairly progressive.
