to be honest you really shouldn't bother with night until you get a mountain biome because wolves at night are different than wolves at the day and better to tame. build or sleep your nights away since the game will often throw pre-alerted gaydwarves at you whenever some random bullshit timer ticks and at night this just gets worse as enemies spawn to kill you and can despawn after you die. generally gaydwarves will always appear along with the dominant species of the biome.Start stockpiling food ASAP is something I recommend. It will seem like you have endless food but then you have to start making the meads and shit and it goes fast. Right now I have to spend like 30 minutes just hunting blueberries and raspberries every few in game days. Collect every queen bee you see and then make hives at your base for honey supply. They also will fuck with mobs that try and attack you as a side benefit.
Once you get a bow get fire arrows go to the forest (not at night) and try and kill a couple trolls. Troll armor will serve you well for a long time. Don't bother with a raft, wait until you can make the 2nd tier boat after you get access to bronze. The first boss is pretty easy to kill just make sure you bring enough arrows and food and try and be rested . When you're mining throw down a fire and maybe even a little shelter for the bonuses. Be careful especially at first because trolls and gaydwarfs will swarm you.
I finally killed the Elder last night. It was an epic journey on my boat to setup the portals and then the sat base and it took like 100 fucking arrows or some shit but he went down. Also, the stamina mead is fucking awesome. I know I'm supposed to be farming carrots or some shit at this point as well. Gotta figure out the food system a bit more.
and keep in mind your krakens as they drop chitin (needs alot of spears tho) and you'll need that for the harpoon where you can drag some creatures/players with it, you'll need the geckos/deers and boars so build pens/palisades to keep them at bay and keep at least two for breeding.
