Start stockpiling food ASAP is something I recommend. It will seem like you have endless food but then you have to start making the meads and shit and it goes fast. Right now I have to spend like 30 minutes just hunting blueberries and raspberries every few in game days. Collect every queen bee you see and then make hives at your base for honey supply. They also will fuck with mobs that try and attack you as a side benefit.

Once you get a bow get fire arrows go to the forest (not at night) and try and kill a couple trolls. Troll armor will serve you well for a long time. Don't bother with a raft, wait until you can make the 2nd tier boat after you get access to bronze. The first boss is pretty easy to kill just make sure you bring enough arrows and food and try and be rested . When you're mining throw down a fire and maybe even a little shelter for the bonuses. Be careful especially at first because trolls and gaydwarfs will swarm you.

I finally killed the Elder last night. It was an epic journey on my boat to setup the portals and then the sat base and it took like 100 fucking arrows or some shit but he went down. Also, the stamina mead is fucking awesome. I know I'm supposed to be farming carrots or some shit at this point as well. Gotta figure out the food system a bit more.
to be honest you really shouldn't bother with night until you get a mountain biome because wolves at night are different than wolves at the day and better to tame. build or sleep your nights away since the game will often throw pre-alerted gaydwarves at you whenever some random bullshit timer ticks and at night this just gets worse as enemies spawn to kill you and can despawn after you die. generally gaydwarves will always appear along with the dominant species of the biome.

and keep in mind your krakens as they drop chitin (needs alot of spears tho) and you'll need that for the harpoon where you can drag some creatures/players with it, you'll need the geckos/deers and boars so build pens/palisades to keep them at bay and keep at least two for breeding.

Fuck I haven't even started breeding yet. Guess now that I have killed the Elder I can go back to my domestic plans including farming and pig ranching. It's like Rust solo there is always something to fucking do. That's part of the appeal to me tho, can do one thing for a while, and then another for a different while, then when you get sick of that thing go do something else.

It looks like I'm gonna need a boat to go kill the Elder, there seems to be a fucking sea in the way. Sigh.

Fortunately, I have just about everything I need, except for the nails. Gonna need to grind some copper and tin to make bronze for those.

bit of a sperg but check this autism: Repair Requires Materials, Starvation one of valheim's stronk points is not using that retarded mechanics and these morons do this shit. unfuckingbeliveable. one can say it's mod and thus its optional but it still does not excuse the fucking autism of these morons, if i wanted such retardedness i could play a good chunk of survival games to get this kind of crap, not having them is what makes valheim somewhat fun, the shitty enemy spawn where you'll face 7 trolls in a night or 20 gaydwarfs is something i found no mod to curb it, yet
I'll never understand why people choose to get angry or upset at the way other people play with their toys. I'm pretty sure I grew out of that in kindergarten.

Anyway, the game looks pretty cool, might grab it when I finished my current crop of games.

I started playing this game with my s/o and it's pretty fun. We loved The Forest and this is similar. We set up camp in a stone structure we found and it's been a pretty good base, though it's on the edge of the black forest and a troll came and fucked it up but we killed him and haven't seen another.
We've got beehives going, I started farming boars and he's making bronze now. Haven't killed anything beyond the first boss and some tombs.
I wish you could set up traps like in The Forest. Maybe there's a way and I just don't know it? The bees sometimes kill things which is cool.

At least personally I've not found taming boars to be a worthwhile endeavor, wolves at least have an extremely strong offense. It's at least easy to get a big pack of boars but for meat purposes I've always found deer extremely easy to hunt.

it's amazing for coop and the game is pratically thunk for 4 players, so the bosses and ting having like high helth, (elder has 25000 hp but fire arrows chew that easily) bronze is only good for the weapons as armors you'll be able to get better late in the game once you are more acquainted with swamps because iron. and pack poison resist meads!

boars drop regular leather, you'll need that and wolves you'll need some ferals for the fur too. deer leather is another thing.

never forget to level your benches and tools/armor, the wooden club is highly effective (if you don't like stagbreaker windup) against the bonemass boss especially if leveled... since i'm doing a tard run for giggles i'm not upgrading things and being oneshotted is fun due to multiple tombstones.

No traps like in The Forest, but you can make passive defensive stake traps once you start harvesting corewood. Hopefully they expand the things you can craft as far as house creation, defenses, etc as EA goes on as once you get to a certain point it gets very barebones. Right now my friends and I are harvesting flametal ore so we have a bunch to smelt once stuff for it gets added to the game.

If any of you guys can, you should find where the Mistlands are on your seeds. It's not populated yet but it's a pretty spooky biome that's fun to just explore for now.

One thing that bothers me about the game is the lack of a concrete road map. They have the "hearth and home" update listed as next up but details as to what exactly that entails are scarce. I get they didn't expect to sell 5 million copies in a month but now that they did they should probably expand the marketing and sales team a bit, or at least hire a full time community manager. Just having someone to put the devs' ideas into more of a concrete form would be useful to potential buyers and current EA players.

I will praise them for launching with the amount of content they did and obviously that's part of why the game is selling so well.

they just made 5mil, there's plenty of coke to snort with that money before they start decisioning, keep in mind that valheim is starting to fall off the gaymur mags and stramer tastes with loop hero seemingly to be the next darling of the moment.

one thing i noticed to farm bronze earlier is to use trolls as they can break the copper and tin deposits with their attacks, use the corspe run effect + a meal to tank his damage or just have enough blocking skill instead and you can even use that to farm pines too as he can break them into salvageable wood. you don't even need to touch eiktyr and can have no problems being raided by fucking deers and boars since kiling him disables that event.

muh world seed seems to be blessed, already found a leviathan in the middle of a small ocean biome and got me some chitin without needing to arse much with sailing. ha

This game any good? I see a lot of my friends playing it. But I am a faggot, so my friends could also be faggots and the game could suck.

I kind of expect another mediocre Unity survival game.

It's basically Viking The Forest with less cannibalism.

It's def not mediocre and it has a unique art style. Some people think it's too grindy or don't like the art style but personally, and I guess I"m a broken record: this game just HITS in a way nothing else other than Rust has for me. Rust is PVP based but has so much to do and it really feels like you impact the world. This is PVE but also has a lot to do and it feels like you impact the world.

From what I can tell people bitching about content just min maxed everything using spoilers and guides and/or used the cheats to spawn shit in. I am solo and in game day 70 and have just now progressed to the 3rd biome. I'm about halfway done with the current content at about 30 hours in game.

i'm at 50's and managed to get around the plains by being lucky and sailing southeast of my spawn point, found some goblins but they deal 110 damage so that's about 22 with corpse run, deathsquitos get killed by the tier 2 level 0 bow and fire arrows in stealth as long as i can keep my archery at 20+ anyway, by kiting the goblins i managed to get some bars of blackmetal so early it's kind of funny, if it weren't for the portals i'd have a bad time re-sailing and managed to find a swamp northeast of the elder's altar. i'll do a full five run with this armor+cape only character and make a new one to do some exploits with trolls to try a no-eiktyr kill run for giggles on the same world, or maybe i'll see Vlinny-kun's world seed for check.

Ha, man this might sound silly but I am trying to play it as a one life game as long as I can. I didn't look at any spoilers for the Elder and right at the start of the fucking battle a level 2 troll (what, why?) and half a dozen gaydrarfs stormed me. This was unexpected and I ended up kiting the troll the fuck out of there, running out of rest time, using like 40 of my arrows and generally just being pissed off before I actually fought the elder. I dunno, it was sorta a stupid fight his ranged attack needs a buff imo, but having the troll and shit show up at the start made it fun, in a mildly stressful sort of way.

Tonight I've been working on getting a shitload of potions and looking for the swamp, still haven't found the swamp but I have to make another boat after mine got fucked in the storm. This game is addictive in a good way.

Your comment about "bow above 20" led me on this autistic rant, my archery is at 42 right now, but I shoot everything with arrows, they are cheap AF and it keeps my aim good.

This guy loves the game even more than I do, damn.

I pretty much agree with him on everything, fun stuff happens quite a bit in this game.

so we got tilgores? ha.

if you are searching for a specific biome then i'd suggest you cruise about your world, circle a island whenever possible to see any potential biomes your seed might've given you, find a safe spot and build a portal then get running because you'll likely die. i got extremely lucky to find one swamp+plains+black forest+mountain with a egg island combo and there is even a ruins/crypt innit with the island being located northeast of the elder's spawn. fuck me that is ultra luck, i am searching for leads on the next bonemass boss currently but i do agree that some things must be added that tilgores complain, mostly the breeding/taming system that is whack, wanted to breed deers but so far it's not possible.

out of my curiosity i decided to see if there was a cheat table for valheim and there is, interestingly enough the features of the table shoulda been mods like tweaked skill gain, crouch/walking speed increase, multijamping, faster taming... there's a ton of stuff you can do with a cheat but mods? quite limited... if a memory hacking program can do, certainly a mod can.

Not to nitpick or tell you how to play/enjoy the game but I found this statement extremely ironic considering that your player character is already a dead Viking.

That's something that amuses me about the premise. Most other survival games either ignore your mysterious ability to respawn, or give it some contrived explanation. Valheim? You're already dead, this is Odin's trial, so if you die you just come back. Have fun!

(It also does a nice job of explaining why you don't starve to death either. Again, you're already dead. The food is to bolster your spirits and give you strength, not to sustain you.)

Hey @TVStactic how do you have your portals setup? Will mobs attack them outside even in a workbench zone? Tonight my goal is to get super baked and just do a nice chill boat ride in search of the swamp biome and to get a portal and aux base setup there. I only have 3 portals right now and all are inside. It's kinda a POA tho.
