Don't even get me started on LootCrate. Overpriced plastic crap that caters to the "I'm a camwhore who needs nerdy shit hoarded in the background" crowd. A few of their shirts are alright though.

Yeah but that sort of merchandising is big business to show off nerd cred. Probably a large reason gaming companies are trying to get more girls into gaming and "geek culture"

Let us not forget the cancer that is beer nerd girls.

"Oh look, they've got Innsmouth Hopps Soggoth! I've got to have one, take a selfie with it and check it off my beercunts.com list. tee-hee!"

Girls who drink beer listen to Bon Jovi unironically and make poor life decisions. You whores fetishizing their lifestyle is an affront to teen pregnancy and Dokken.

Oh trust me, it is. I used to know a chick who drifted away and became a chaturbate camwhore. Tuned in once and it was like fucking Kindergarten show and tell with all the plastic crap. Incels with a hole burning in their wallet eat that shit up.

Hey how about nerds who are cool and kickass but then they have like an asthma attack or some typical nerd trope and we treat it as funny but kind of sad but also its kind of ironic?

There have been nerd girls forever, but fewer of them. They've generally been as nerdy as guys with all that implies. They didn't just become "nerds" yesterday by putting on a pair of glasses without even any prescription lenses in them and a T-shirt of something they don't even know what it is.

Everyone hates a tourist in their culture, just like actual Japanese are disgusted by weebs.

Exactly. They just didn't wear it on their sleeve and define themselves as "nerds" like they do now. Basically every girl I grew up with and went to school with played video games and nobody cared, because there wasn't this false "culture"created by advertising executives based on being a hip, cool person who does cool "nerdy" things. Like many of you already said, it's being completely engineered by the companies that are pushing these trashy, pointless products.

People who keep on going on about how much of a nerd/geek they are tend to be insecure about who they are. "Hur hur I'm a nerdy pc gamer grill". No Caitlyn you're not a nerd, you're a fucking whore.

It's the same mentality that couples do when they keep posting "Aww I love you my baby". They can keep posting soppy shit all they want, behind that facade is a couple ready to kill each other.

That whole "girl game streamer" turned cammer always fascinated me. I wonder at what point you are streaming games at the PC on cam and think "I could get a fair bit more money with this fanbase if I started getting naked a shoving dildos in me".

To be honest, I don't really mind that people are jumping on calling themselves a nerd or whatever, it's autistic of them to do, but actual nerds etc will probably end up being called something else and move on. It's not like you're forced to not like something just because more people like it/pretend to like it. Even more so, I doubt nerds ever liked the big bang theory in the first place. But that's just my unsolicited opinion on it. The cringe that comes out of the pretenders are top notch though!

The entire premise of the show is that the only thing that can save the successful physicists from themselves is normie women. The audience isn't supposed to sympathize with the nerds, they are suppose to relate to the normie girls who eventually become their girlfriends who "straighten those nerds out". Which is marginally insulting.

This is true. I listened to this interview of a writing team who wrote for several popular sitcoms and television shows and they said that the actors who play the most hated characters in TV shows/movies are typically really nice people in real life and they have no problem playing a hated character because they are confident and secure in their lives. On the other hand, a lot of actors who insist that the writers on these shows make their characters seem "too good" or want them to write lines that are overly sappy and make their character seem unrealistically wholesome, these people are typically assholes in real life.

They want to hide their real, awful personalities behind the wholesome characters they play, whereas genuinely good people have no problem playing a character who is an evil jerk because they are confident and have nothing to hide in real life.

I recall that one of my cousins got really hit with this craze probably starting in 2007. I remember her really being into the big bang theory and even getting multiple tattoos of "nerd stuff" like an atom and pokemon. She ended up married to somebody else that was into the same sort of incredibly mainstream nonsense and they ended up making their entire identity revolving around how they're such "nerds" even though they only do what's popular. I always wondered what they'd think of what they did in say 20 years.

Nothing screams autism more than judging potential partners by if they are literally Doctor Who.

The worst thing about this "nerd culture" shit is how bright and tacky it looks. I can't imagine displaying something like that in my home. I found a bunch of reproductions of Sumerian sculptures that I really liked, and even then I thought it would clash with my decor. But then you see people with fucking 8-bit Mario on their wall with a poster of Batman.
