Correct me if I'm wrong but the entire point of a subculture is meant to be to get away from the mainstream, isn't it? To enjoy the company of those who enjoy the same things that you do but aren't available in mainstream society?

I thought it was just the coagulation of people who shared common interests.

Yeah, I mean if you're gonna play Final Fantasy together you should be going for Crystal Chronicles or grabbing a bunch of hacked PSPs and going to town on Type-0 or Dissidia.

I like how the one person who really nerds out in this thread is autismo rated down into oblivion in a thread about raging about fake nerds.

That whole "girl game streamer" turned cammer always fascinated me. I wonder at what point you are streaming games at the PC on cam and think "I could get a fair bit more money with this fanbase if I started getting naked a shoving dildos in me".

It's when they took a cursory glance at the history of the internet.

The entire premise of the show is that the only thing that can save the successful physicists from themselves is normie women. The audience isn't supposed to sympathize with the nerds, they are suppose to relate to the normie girls who eventually become their girlfriends who "straighten those nerds out". Which is marginally insulting.

lolno, I've actually seen that show and at every point it's made painfully obvious that the nerds are the ones saving Penny from her flailing acting career that's only a half-step above doing porn.

Half the people in the my school qualifies for this. There usually are a ton of these kinds of people coming in nerdy clubs in the first few weeks, they leave after a while.
im gonna dox all those faggots. what school do you go to?

Both sides are pretty dumb. If people just let things play out organically the "fake nerds" would congregate in their own echo chambers where they can signal each other about how superficially geeky they are, while the "real nerds" cluster in the shadows as they always have. "Fake nerds" trying to infiltrate "real nerd" spaces will either become bored and leave or be sucked into the black hole of autism from which no Chad can escape.

Nerds getting angry at the concept of having an entry level interest in what you do.

I feel like some of those stupid ass "me vs other girls" things fit well here.

If you're over 16 and still need the desire to label and categorize yourself based on a fandom or commercial subculture, that says more about you then others, regardless of whether said person is a "true X, Y, or Z" or a "poser".

Yeah, that's why I classify myself as a true individual.

I remember when working at Taco Cabanna, some coworker spic kid was asking me very entry level questions about star wars, shit like askimg me who Anakin Skywalker is, and wanted to comfirm he was Darth Vader.
Turns out he was trying to hit on some chick by pretending to know about Star Wars and being a "nerd", when in reality he was a typical spic that was obsessed with rap, weed and his bmw.

ITT: :autism: and Normies REEEEEE.

Now, my two cents: I personally don't give a fuck about any kind of posers. If people really want to get into something, they will spend the hours to master his nerdy shit. All the "wannabes" are just another trend that will die out.

I guess I could add a curious small story. I know a person that is still a fan of Tokio Hotel. I can respect that. At least that's what I would call consistency.
