I've been listening to some of the soundtrack on yt while painting and I took a look at the comments for once. Why do all of these people suck off this game so much? I get being a fan of the game as I personally like it, despite it not being the greatest thing ever made but I was reading the comments under the song neverending night and people were saying they broke down in tears after seeing the end text of chapter 4. I genuinely haven't seen this with any other game even with the ones infested with troons like ultrakill

I genuinely don't understand some people in that fan base who will just obsess over a game that doesn't get content for multiple years. I chuckled when I did the mike boss fight in chapter 4 with it poking fun at all the schizotrannies who obsessed over a character who was mentioned once

I get the reaction, even if it’s extreme. Some guy makes a game that resonates with millions of people and forms a passionate community full of fan creation and theory-crafting. A few years later, the creator says he made the game as basically a prerequisite for his real dream project which builds upon it. Now that game has been gradually getting new content over the last 7 years, not only in terms of new chapters but also stuff like the Spamton Sweepstakes and livestreams. The Undertale/Deltarune “saga” has been ongoing for over a decade (more if you count the Kickstarter demo), growing alongside its audience, and there are still questions left unanswered but getting built up since Undertale. Now Gaster, the game’s biggest mystery, says the game/experiment is halfway complete and might as well be a self-insert for Toby when he talks about “My Deltarune”.

It just emphasizes how far this game has come. That and

I’d bet most of the people having those sorts of reactions are people who were kids/preteens when Undertale released and are now young adults, so they’ve been autistically following it for most of their lives.

Heck, I was starting highschool when Deltarune chapter 1 released.

I'm already about to finish college, and the very thought that this game has only been half completed since then kinda terrifies me.
