Hospital is possible, both from the angle of Kris' therapy from when he was younger, Berdly dying in his ice coma, or Rudy's health failing.
What therapy?
So I just remembered today and it's probably already been said in the thread beforehand but I think it really speaks to how absolutely dogshit the fanbase is when there's multiple big youtubers and streamers that refuse to play Undertale and or Deltarune on their channel out of principle.
When did that happen? Has anyone actually said it?

I mean how many girls do you know that are named Kris? The only possible feminine interpretation I can even come up with would be that it's short for something like Kristine, which there's zero evidence of. As far as we know Kris's name is literally "Kris Dreemur", and in that context Kris as a standalone name is just flat out a boys name. It's just an alternate spelling of Chris, which is definitively also a boy name.

Most people who aren't indoctrinated by the troon mindvirus just hear Kris's name and look at the sprite and instantly clock him as a dude, and that's before his personality just reinforces that idea.

Ffs even by "weird kid" standards Kris comes off like a guy. How many loner chicks bring weapons to school and eat moss? There's a reason a lot of the stereotypical "loner kid" behaviors Kris exhibits are nigh-universally associated with boys. I knew people that were a lot like Kris, and none of them were girls.

Even the absolute biggest koolaide drinkers on the Nonbinary shit still have to tacitly admit that Kris is, at best, a masc enby. Even if he is nonbinary, he's still essentially just a teenage boy who still looks, acts, and speaks like a teenage boy but just goes by they/them pronouns because he's a moody hormonal teenager that's who he feeeeeels like he is. It's like pooners who literally just say "I'm a boy now :3" and change literally nothing else about themselves. It's noncommittal at best.

The only genuine androgyny or femininity that I've seen come from Kris is fan content. In-game he's just blatantly a teenage boy.
This is true now that I think about it. I think for this exact same line of thinking a lot of people see Chara as a girl (the rosy cheeks are what people associated with femininity.) Though for Frisk it really went either way.

When did that happen? Has anyone actually said it?
Not everyone but it's obvious. I forget who it was specifically but there was one big youtuber I wanna say it was either Markiplier or Jacksepticeye, but I could be wrong who only did like 1 or 2 videos of them playing Undertale before canceling the rest due to the fanbase being a cesspit like always I think they decided to play the rest of the game on their own time not bothering to record it.

EDIT: While looking for an example I incidentally stumbled upon an actual statement from Vinny on reddit from 8 years ago.

According to Vinny he simply has no interest in playing the game while at the same time bringing up how shitty the fanbase is but also saying it totally has nothing to do with his decision but it's pretty obvious to anyone with two braincells that he refuses to play it because of the fanbase's reaction. You'd have to be a retard to not put that together, he does a really poor job of hiding it. Probably some terrible attempt at damage control or something.
I don't blame him.

My niece is 11. She says Kris is a boy, frisk is a girl.

From the mouths of babes
I share the same opinion.
When I first played Undertale back in 2015 I thought Frisk was a girl and I still do, I also clock Chara as a girl given how the denizens of the underground remark the similarities between the two of them.

I just kinda assumed Chara was a girl because it completed the little 'family' the Dreemurrs had. Mom, dad, brother, and then adoptive sister. Made everything a nice little family for a while.

I've been thinking about the lyrics to Raise Up Your Bat recently and I feel like it'd make a lot of sense of Kris had absorbed Dess's soul at some point.

"Come follow me into the dark
With your heart as the ark
Which shall shine you the way"

If Kris had Dess's soul it would put a lot of these lyrics into context. Kris's soul would literally be an ark carrying Dess's soul and him to whatever journey they're on.

"Because I'm with you in the dark
With your hеart as my mark
Which shall guide you the way, through the wavеs"

If Kris had Dess's soul she would literally be with him in the dark, and it would make the 2nd line make sense. It would both be his soul and her mark.

Let's assume for a minute that we are playing by Undertale rules. If the dark fountains are similar the barrier, you would need a boss monster soul and a human soul to get through it. It would make sense for the Holliday's to be boss monsters since Carol seems to be taking the same role in the story as Asgore did in Undertale. This could be why specifically Kris/Kris's soul is needed, he is not just a human, but he's a human with a boss monster soul attached to his own.

Maybe the whole goal of trying to fulfill the prophecy is because they believe it will allow them to separate Dess's soul from Kris and return it to her body, the Roaring Knight. It would also explain Kris seemingly hating his soul enough to rip it out, even before the start of the game based on the bird cage, he feels guilty about possessing her soul inside his own.

Someone straight up tell me if I'm going insane here.

I think it's pretty clear that Kris hates the soul because not only is it in control of him, forcing him to do shit, but it's also more popular and liked than he is.
I get that, but he owned the rusty bird cage on the wagon beforehand, which heavily implies that he's been tearing it out for a while now.

How about kicking the garbage can in Snowgrave?
You've got a point, the only thing I could think of is if his anger at the player was enough to make him completely lose his shit and not care for a second. There's the same problem on the regular route with him hitting it with the hockey stick, but he's apparently had violent tendencies in the past based on what ERAM said, so I don't think it's out of the question that he could just be the type to lash out physically when he gets extremely angry.

But with Noelle and Susie we know for a fact Noelle has never even spoken to her prior to the game events and more or less just stalked her and fantasized about her. Again, if they weren't lesbians if Noelle was a dude and Susie wasn't they'd be saying Noelle is a creep but because they're lesbians it's wholesome 100 big chungus lesbian representation.
Art imitating life? 🤔

Admittedly, that could provide an explanation as to why Toby keeps calling Kris "they"; because he's talking about two separate people at once. Male body, female soul.

If Bob Fox niggers out and makes Suselle canon, the one solace will be that eventually Susie's patience with Noelle will run out and she'll start going for the World Wifebeating Championship title
The monkey's paw curls and Suselle is destined to become canon only for the two to realize they have zero proper chemistry and only want one another for surface-deep reasons and go back to being 'just friends' after they figure out a relationship is a lot more complicated than expected. It's remembered as a brief but exploratory school fling, Bluesky and Reddit chimp out.
