How the fuck did Theresa May mess this up? I mean, how could she not see that not being seen as an accessible figure to public or expressing restriction to internet freedom would make her look like a complete twat?

:autism:

Sun's front page tomorrow.

They are pissed.

EDIT: With the Southampton Test result going to Labour, a hung parliament is now official.

Can anyone blame them for being upset with her. In many ways, this has resulted in the Labor party regaining momentum, all thanks to May.

Nope. May needs to fucking go and let someone competent be in charge.

This is how MP's can challenge May's leadership:

If Theresa May does not resign, but the party decide to make a challenge on her leadership, the following steps will need to be taken:

  • 15% of elected MPs will need to write a letter to the chairman of the 1922 Committee of backbenchers (Graham Brady) saying they have no confidence in the leader
  • If the forecast of 318 seats is fulfilled, Graham Brady would need to receive 48 letters (it would be 48 letters for any final tally from 315-320)
  • At that point, all MPs then vote on a no confidence motion.

If a motion of no confidence is carried through, the Conservative Party would then follow the steps for a normal leadership contest:

  • Each leadership candidate would need to get a proposer and a seconder for their nomination
  • They then go through a series of rounds where the MP with the lowest number of MP nominations is eliminated until two candidates are left
  • Those two candidates then go to the party on a One Member, One Vote basis
  • However, if there is only one candidate when nominations close, that member will be declared leader of the party.

Because what can possibly go wrong with entering a coalition with a party of hardline relgious asshats with a hate boner for anything remotely Irish

What can possibly go wrong with electing a terrorist sympathising Communist who boffed Diane Abbott?

Caroline Lucas kept her seat (of course)

DUP are giggling at the mo.

EDIT EDIT: Citibank analysts expect Theresa May to resign today.

Corbyn also cleaned up his image and the Labour Party seem to have tightened up their message compared to 2 years ago. The tenor of the press coverage of him also seems to have improved (or at least May has declined so much recently that he doesn't seem so bad in comparison)

That is what I mean, though. Surely, May had to know that marketing the Conservative Party as the more competent, accessible party with more aligned with the British people needed. I mean, look at Corbyn's statements about how to handle the issue of Terrorism, Brexit, or economy (terrible, barely there, or downright silly) and you can see that this guy could easily be ridiculed into oblivion. Hell, if she wanted to get real dirty she could've gone after his prior affiliation's with Sinn Fein and reignited bad memories of The Troubles. Nope, just essentially made statements about how she was going to regulate the Internet and just assumed everything else would fall into place for her. Foolish!

It's a little comforting that Americans and The British can have shitshow elections that took everyone by surprise.

It's amazing after the Brexit referendum and the 2016 US election that politicians still think they can get away with holding elections with 'predetermined' results

May's apparently going to make a statement in three and a half hours; I can't imagine what she could possibly say to diffuse any of this, though.

"i intend to offer my resignation to Her Majesty"
