Honestly, Fighteer (AKA John M. Aldrich) is near the level of deserving his own thread. I've never seen such little power go to anyone's head as it has with him. He's always a pretentious ban-happy prick that nobody likes. He's like the manager of an Arby's who thinks his position affords him the respect of the entire world.

Fighteer's always been a fucking power drunk prick. Hell, he basically admits that he runs the site as a dictatorship.

I'm going to admit I'm biased, but I want to say a few things in his defense.

1. I had very little love for the man myself, most of old blog posts bitched about shit he did, and even some of my friends on ATT still don't like him, and it took me awhile before we could be civil, just to get out there I'm no blind advocate.

2. What brought us together was that crazed Nate Spidgewood asshole. He had been giving both of us so much shit we joined forced to interdict his bullshit.

3. Over time, as ATT and TVT formed a truce where we made sure plagiarism was dealt with on both sides and we agreed not to piss in each other's Cheerios, he came to realize I'm not a whiny asshole and I came to realize I couldn't shit on the man because I had been doing his job enough by that point I'd be tossing rocks in a glass house.

Just to emphasize the last point, the sheer amount of spastic autistic jackasses I've had to deal with are no different the many he's had to put up with, and after having seen the world through his eyes, I have a lot more sympathy for his often short temper with those assholes, and while I used to hate him being an authority figure, I'm one now too over a similar community, and frankly, I understand him a lot better.

And hell, given the way TV Tropes works, you NEED to run that shitshow like a dictatorship at this point. It's a chaotic clusterfuck of autism that took too damn long to iron out whether the mods would be assholes or let anything go, and they spent too long doing the latter that some truly cancerous shit appeared there, and to get rid of the worst of it they had to start cracking down, and given the sheer size of their site, if they relax their grip now, we'll see even WORSE autistic bullshit than already exists.

I'd like to hope I set up All The Tropes in such a way I can avoid doing that to my own stomping grounds, but I greatly understand now why TV Tropes is a dictatorship, it's at the point relaxing the reins is a fatal mistake if you want to keep the worst of the autism in check.

I admit I still don't like everything he does, have admitted as much to him, but in many ways I no longer have the right to shit on him without having to look in a mirror and see a hypocrite staring back. Still doesn't means he's above criticism, just that I'm going to largely refrain because of what I stated above.

Well, the edit banned thread is an decent place for mining some comedy gold from him.

I'm curious, do the mods never do their jobs? Is that why every user on tvt tries so fucking hard to be an admin/being a goody two shoes?
The mods have been established as being just as bad, if not worse, than the users they oversee. If anything, they encourage them more than they do try to stop them. So it surprised me that even they have limits, like with Nate.

Lately, it's hard to tell, being an hugbox and all.

But people are being banned for violating the draconian policies of the wiki.

Isn't saying cocksucker is a homophobic slur actually homophobic in of itself? After all, your average homo isn't slurping down every cock he sees and some male fags don't even like to suck cock!

I hope this hasn't been brought up before, but I was going through this page
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SignatureScene
and you know, I'm kinda wondering if anyone on tvtropes actually reads the actual description of the trope. As it says in the opening:
That one scene that everyone remembers from a movie or other media. When people think of the work, this is the one scene that they immediately think of, and may be the only reason to remember it at all. If the work is referenced in popular culture, it will reference this scene. Cover illustrations will often depict this scene. Any parodies will also center on this scene specifically.

When you go to, let's say, the Live-action TV subpage, you'll see that while they do a fine enough job listing examples from older/less mainstream shows, they go completely off the rails with stuff like Capeshit, Dr Who, GoT and YA-lite shows. Take for instance this example from The Flash:

These are less "signature scenes aka things I should recognise even though I haven't seen a single minute of the show/I saw it years ago but this is the only part that stuck with me" and more "omg this shit was so COOL and had us talking about it on Tumblr that must mean it's memorable to everyone else!!!". Compare that to the entry for TOS:

That's it. Even before I started watching Star Trek, I knew these scenes from pop culture. That's what the entires should look like, not a user just adding random shit and not thinking if your average casual TV watcher would actually recognise these through having seen them from something else.
