Another thing about The Boys? The comic is genuinely bad. Like, I've seen videos critiquing it, and even I have to say as someone of centre-right that it is proof that Garth Ennis needs restraints to do good things. So someone MIGHT prefer a TV show that takes names and character descriptions and turns what was a mean dig at superheroes and everyone who likes them into a satire of celebrity behaviour and corporate greed (Seasons 1 & 2 in particular). I can confirm: I had fond memories of watching the show's first four episodes and I'll buy Seasons 1 & 2 on home video.
I remember thinking the original Top Gun was pretty obvious military propaganda but still a fun romp of a movie. Also imagine thinking consooming a movie makes a political point either way.

Fighteer is 46 now. He became a moderator on August 12, 2010. Imagine spending eleven years of your life reigning over a site while you're in your mid 30s to early 40s. It's enough to make anyone jaded.

Honestly I don't find The Boys comic to be bad, I get that Garth has a massive hate boner for superheroes but people are missing the point, probably because people have a septic mentality. Joke aside, he makes a very good point about superheroes and how they would be if they had the same flaws and insecurities as normal people but at the same time he also shows how some people like Hughie, Starlight and MM don't succumb to such corruption and wickedness as other Supes because they are the few that either have legitimate strong moral foundations or just don't care about the power apart from the practical benefits it gives them.
When he makes America look bad, he does it plausibly by being grossly incompetent or out of touch. Other than the retarded Vice President, the clone they made to keep their superman in check became so fucked in the head because there was next to nothing for him to pin on the guy, so he makes an elaborate plan that manages to fuck everything up simply because he wanted to fulfill his purpose. Not to mention the part about the hero who pretended to like fags, which may have contributed to their dislike for the comic.

Tvtropes aside, the problem with The Boys comic is that as gripping as it can be, it's so insanely juvenile. Garth Ennis has the sense of humor of an edgy 12 year old. The worst part is that Ennis isn't actually making a point about superheroes being bad because:
Yeah, it's juvenile and spiteful. What he tries to convey, though, is how gritty and shitty people can be. Satire, after all, has some truth to it.
