That would be more believable if there wasn't a gajillion romance novel covers out there arguing otherwise.
The women into those novels with the cheesy stock art covers are not the same kind as the ones making this argument in nerdy fandom circles. Females sexualise males too but most of that is stuck in the realm of fandom entertainment where they get their rocks off make fanart or fics, their problem is with the industry which was mostly driven by male creators. Chris Hemsworth took off his shirt in a movie, yeah, but was he hired for being hot over his acting, was his suit designed by a woman who wanted to see a huge bulge? Is there a female Tarantino equivalent hiring guys to act out her foot fetish shots?

I'm not saying it's all fair but there's a reason they seem to turn a blind eye on who does the 'objectification' and it's not purely hypocrisy.

Their talking points are so old, I've forgotten the answers to them.

But to go back to your original point: Merlin, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Gotham. Those were unabashedly queer-coded characters. Hook from OUAT was a sex object.

Hollywood is a little less gung-ho; maybe because they rely so much on foreign markets, which lean conservative.

But to go back to your original point: I think standards have eased up, at least on TV. Merlin, Doctor Who, Sherlock... more recently, Gotham. Those were unabashedly hot, queer-coated characters. Hook from OUAT was a sex object. He usurped the main character and dominated the show.
That's the thing, you can't take the idea of a woman in a chainmail bikini, flip the gender to a man and say the females in the audience will objectify him in the same way they're so tired of when it comes to the girl characters. Those examples you gave have hoards of fangirls who like them for a range of different reasons. Merlin himself has a different charm to Arthur who has his shirtless scenes but doesn't spend 90% of his screentime in a metal codpiece and the 11th Doctor and Sherlock aren't athletic types at all. The reason I mentioned He-Man and Conan is because they don't have the typical fangirl army lusting over them yet they'll go after Jojo characters who are just as ripped, just being physically attractive doesn't complete the formula. Big tit lovers are a dime a dozen but bring up that Rob Liefield drawing of Cpt America and it's universally deemed bad anatomy, guys on /fit/ praise Arnold for his 'hard work and perfection' but femoids on lolcow would call him ugly and bring up his affair.
The Skyrim modding community has a decade's worth of big titty sexy NPCs to download from the most prominent mod site, there's even a mod called 'The Amazing World of Bikini Armor'. The sexy male content is there but blatantly by and for gay men and everyone complains about the lack of male content. All the girls seem to prefer making cosmetic mods for other games if they're not making clothing and photoshoots with their OCs in Skyrim. They're not the ones spending real man hours coding floppy peen and butthole physics.

I see. Well, you're right that these industries are predominantly male, and cater to that audience. You probably couldn't get away with a male version of this, for instance.

I think that art would be less controversial if they angled her even a little differently. Can't get over that red ass with a giant crack above her weird floating head with no boobs to distract you from it. Like have the camera from below and have her look at it so it becomes a regular full frontal and it wouldn't grab so much attention for the wrong reasons.

You know what's sad? TVTropes used to be a place to meet like-minded fans, spread awareness of shows, and celebrate things. It was never designed to be a tool to criticize media.

They do celebrate stuff, it is just filled with ponies, western-cartoons, gacha-games and the occasional youtuber dicksucking. Also, I do not think tropers tolerate criticism, hence the entire TLoU II debacle (and who knows how many others were barred from criticism).

There's talk about them nuking the thread complaining about porn of fictional characters (archived). So far, the consensus is split between "nuke the fucking thing from orbit" and "lock it and pretend it doesn't exist." Remember the petty Discord drama? The people who started it got their bans lifted, but someone necroed the thread to complain.

Can't say anything about the other threads, although I do remember Fighteer throwing a bitchfit back when the drama flared up and nuking the Insecurities thread.

OK. Screw it. I'm archiving the thread.

I feel like there's a sex abuse scandal on the scale of the Vatican brewing just under the surface of TVT. There is so much disingenuous finger-pointing and bald hypocrisy.
You seem to be assuming the user base goes outside.

You were saying?

It's like none of you have ever visited the fan sites dedicated to Hal Jordan's or Nightwing's ass.

I've met two female comic-readers in my time.

Most girls seem to find it all pointless and stupid. (And they're not wrong.)

Humans are mortal. It's all pointless and stupid if you're not making & raising children to replace you - or robots who will kill you THEN replace you.
