I might be wrong and the brother might just be a mindless asshole, but I think the brother is lashing out as a way to give her tough love. He's probably concerned as all hell and doesn't want her to go down this path, she's his younger sister after all. Older brothers do that sometimes, not all of them are sweet and gentle. Men do that in general. Personally I feel like that type of love is lacking nowadays and that's why people in general, mainly women, are so soft and overly emotional.
Almost every strong confident women I met grown up in an environment where people didn't sugarcoat things.

Probably a mix of a budding young mans disgust at being gaslit and lied to about something that’s right in his face, combined with a child’s instinctual awareness of SOMETHING not being right, even if he can’t put a finger on it.

The kid is probably just really frustrated with the fact that his adult sister is pretending to be something she's obviously not, and he's forced to play along with it.
When you're a kid, most adults in your life don't really take your playing pretend, or your big ideas seriously. They laugh about it and have fun with it, but eventually you have to behave and do your chores and homework. Maybe he's just really annoyed at the double standard where she gets to continue the games and demand others go along with them.

These little boys are lashing out because they're getting older and smarter amd they're pissed off that they're being lied to and corrected when they didn't do anything wrong. They go to school and realize that not all of their friends have to call fat short haired women men because THEY AREN'T. They show you pictures of their pitbull, all gentle and soft with a baby. Maybe a kitten, something small and dainty.
