Anybody looking up chris Roberts behaviour on other projects should've been perfectly aware this project was never going to be finished.

I don't think it's a deliberate scam but he has prior history of constantly expanding the scope of projects and never finishing.

Anybody who paid money for deserves what they get.

Hell anybody who uses kickstarter deserves what they get.

Providing free investment for no reward, there's one born every minute.

When a megalomaniacal scope, computer melting universe simulation game has been in development for so long that now handhelds can run it.

If you really want to see a Star Citizen simp seethe just casually mention Elite Dangerous, a game that is delivering an experience that the former promised years ago.
You can say a lot about Star Citizen but considering Odyssey was a massive shitshow saying ED delivers the same things SC promises is massively disingenuous. Just because SC is shit doesn't invalidate Frontier's many MANY blunders. Star Citizen has seamless ground to space transitions with no loading, fully featured FPS combat, and full ship interiors that can house multiple people. The game is shit. But I would say even in an unfinished state SC in a better state than a mostly abandoned game Frontier treat as an embuggerance at best. That is not a compliment to Star Citizen. But an indictment on the current state of Space sims. You don't owe any of these games your loyalty. And being disingenious about them just gives the shills more fuel.

Sunk Cost Galaxy is the Star Citizen of documentaries.
Sunk Cost Galaxy is a former investor with a seething grudge. He's admitted several times in videos and in autistic arguments on discord that he's more pissed off Chris didn't listen to him than he's actually pissed off about the state of the game.

He's also right and makes an entertaining video.

I am more interested in Sunk Cost Galaxy 8 than I am in Star Citizen.

The thing is the people behind Elite Dangerous have fully admitted that Odyssey was a shit show. They even cancelled the scheduled console release of that expansion because they knew they fucked up and fans of the game let them know that was the case. That's the opposite of shilling.

But let's not forget that Odyssey is DLC, you don't even need it to play the core ED game which is a shipped product. Meanwhile Star Citizen is a game that has been in Alpha state for a decade and what it has to show for it is being unfinished and shit yet there are people out there willing to huff Chris Roberts farts and spend thousands on the biggest examples of sunk-cost fallacy the game industry has ever seen.

There is a point where "believe the vision" just doesn't cut it anymore, not when there are so many good space sim games one can enjoy right now, fully featured, complete and available for purchase. I just can't understand the cult like mentality of the SC community, at this point I just find it funny.

Agreed on all counts. Star Citizen is too long in the oven with not enough to show. Even though the current alpha (jesus christ) can be a lot of fun and does have some impressive aspects, it being a decade overdue and with no end in sight is extraordinarily disappointing and the developers do not deserve any good will. Especially when their endless crowdfunding scheme is taken into account.

I actually do think the game will be complete someday. And when that happens people will probably really like it and have fun. I probably will if I'm still alive. But to anyone waiting in any serious fashion for that day, go play something else and stop giving RSI your money.

FUCK THOSE CONSOLE FAGGOTS HOLDING BACK PC GAMING!

STAR CITIZEN WILL BE NEXT-NEXT GEN! Only TOP spec computers will be able to run it!

Graphics were supposed to be next level, but we’re already at the point where SC had been surpassed by most games made within the last couple of years.

How do you define “complete”?!

You could call it a day now and pretend it’s complete and release it.

As far as what has been promised, it will never be complete. Years to make a single solar system doesn’t add up with 100 systems.

Many of the things that have been promised either aren’t technically possible (seamless multiplayer with one instance) or aren’t possible because the game is a nightmare of spaghetti code in an engine that wasn’t designed for this purpose.

The problem is of course, that even if it WAS released, it would still be a shit game unless you like walking simulators. Basic gameplay loops still aren’t there and flight/dogfighting has actively gotten worse over the years.

Of course the financial motivation is 100% to keep it in alpha forever.

30 systems, a variety of maybe 50 ships, plenty of weapons to create loadouts, seamless travel from space to planet and functional/fun first person gameplay in stations/space/on planets in live multiplayer. I don't really care too much about Squadron 42. And building an economy is straightforward enough. So long as items are actual entities in the game world and not magic numbers (meaning freighters are useful and therefore valuable to protect/capture) everything else would slide into place.

They should have been able to accomplish this already though. But I'd call that complete and it sounds fun. It's basically a much better version of Freelancer, which was awesome in multiplayer.

It looks like Starfield will be released before it. I still think it’s funny No Mans Sky was fixed before SC came out too. I still think it has better odds than ASOIAF being completed by GRRM.

Imagine dying before getting to read A Dream of Spring in-between flying around in Star Citizen.
There was a guy in the refund Reddit who will probably be dead before it comes out.

He bought it, got diagnosed with a terminal motor neural disease, and is already at a point where he doesn’t have the motor skills to play the game right now.

He went to CIG for a refund since you know… “I bought your game thinking it’d be released in three years like Chris said. It had now been six years and I’ve lost the use of my hands in the meantime!”

CIG told him to get stuffed.

Lord knows how many of the many 50-60 year old SW fans who bought the game because of Wing Commander will still be alive when it’s released.

I reinstalled Star Citizen for the first time in five or six years. It was actually pretty fun. I enjoyed flying around and exploring and talking/working with other players.

Not bad! Also not complete.

Remember when "Elite: Dangerous" was considered a competitor to this shit? That game has been finished for years now and has plenty of new content for the turbo autists with the time to spend in it.

For that matter, ALL this game is trying to do is what Eve Online has been doing for years now. Just "better". Its amazing to me how determined the backers of this vapor ware are. The experience they claim to want is already available from two different games. And HAS been available. For YEARS.

Elite is kinda lame though. I can't quite put my finger on what's wrong with that game. It was once described to me as a shallow lake, which I think is a good description.

How has No Man's Sky ended up all this time later? Is it any good or is it also full of tons of things but not very much gameplay variety?
